"Too Late"

Giovanny Zomboli, Camilli Engman, Entliczek Publishing House, 2011 “Too Late” - created by Italian writer Giovanna Zombola and with graphics by Swedish illustrator Camilla Engman, is the only book that is not one author's vision on the whole, but the result of cooperation. Despite all the problems resulting from it, the effect is wonderful. The illustrator has beautifully read the text and created around it a unique world that is living its own life so near. The slow, lethargic rhythm of the words and unusual atmosphere of softly coloured illustrations create a beautiful lullaby. A lullaby about someone who does not want to go to sleep yet. As usual, when we close the book we won't answer the question so easily – what did the book tell us. It may be a book about childhood and longing for incredible adventures. Or about magic of dreams that sometimes starts working just before falling asleep. Sometimes it is a good way to lull the kid reading the repeated lines slowly, or sometimes to trigger his or her imagination, a machine that creates beautiful dreams adults do not dream so often.
