Director’s Notes Happy belated new year everyone As this is our first brochure for 2019 we thought we’d better extend our wishes to you all and hope you have all had a great start to the year. As ever, we at Funky look to roll with the times in an ever changing market place and keep up to date with fresh, new and exciting breweries and beers for yourselves and your customer base. You will notice the additions of some great breweries that are new to our Funky range but we believe and know that these breweries and beers not only elevate our selection but will in turn do the same for yourselves. The likes of Roosters, Summer Wine Brewery, Wimbledon, Titanic, Farmageddon, Revolutions, Mad Dog and Mobberley only enhance what was already a great choice and I’m sure you will all agree that some of these beers sound heavenly. We have added this time around a new range of permanently stocked keg beers. This should give all your craft bars a great reliable selection to choose from and watch out on your email shots as we will be continually sending out “when it’s gone it’s gone” specials from all of our featured breweries, again ensuring a fresh selection on a regular basis. You will also notice we are featuring our partner brewer from Stuttgart, Germany in Dinkelacker-Schwaben Brau. We mentioned our trip over to the Canstatter Volksfest in our previous brochure and now we have added extra info on the great product range available from these guys. The range of keg beers supported by a selection of the finest bottled beers means this brewery is an absolute must to be featured in any world/imported beer emporium. We have noticed out in trade a bit of an upturn in the desire for foreign beers again and would like to ensure you all that we are working behind the scenes to bring some great new brands into the country. In February of this year we took a trip (part work but mainly pleasure) over to Bruges in Belgium. This is an annual trip we take for the Bruges Beer Festival and has grown and grown amongst our friends and colleagues every year. This year we took our friends and customers (Rob from the Steamhouse in Manchester and Gareth from Craft Minded in Liverpool) with our very own unbeaten football team Cross Bay FC along for the ride. And what a ride it was. The beer festival (situated in the Bruges Market Square) is a fantastic event and we would highly recommend a visit there to any beer lover. Coupled with visits to bars like Le Trappiste, ‘T Poetersgat and our absolute favourite for many years now ‘T Verdriet Van Belgie (known as Jari’s bar to us on account of the owner being called Jari and pictured with us) this is a great weekend and hope more of you can join us next year. The trip wasn’t all about us simply getting drunk and eating frites, we did have some work whilst there. After a meeting with our colleague from a local Belgian craft brewery, Paljas, we are pleased to announce that we will be the UK distributor for these “World Beer Award” winning beers. Fusing the traditional Belgian style with some great forward thinking brewing, we believe these again are a great addition to the range (and the UK market) and would be an asset to any bar, especially with a second to none POS range to support it. Please speak to your account manager for more details. Our most recent visit out took us for a day out up to Newcastle to meet our partners from Anarchy Brew Co. Simon, Les (both pictured with Kieran, Loic and Gareth), Dawn, Phil and Stuart were great hosts and treated us like one of their own with an endless supply of craft beer and Greggs.....what more could we desire. We had a great time and are very grateful and can’t wait to get some of their exciting beers over to you throughout the course of the year. We will also be holding a competition later in the year to bring some of you guys up to their awesome Taproom so watch this space for that. All that is left is for us to thank you all for taking the time to read through what is going on at Funky HQ and we hope you like the look of our new range.
