Bikefest.. The weather was perfect and we had one hell of a good time with all of you who came. I certainly got the opportunity to eat at some great restaurants, Wobbly Boots, Dog Days, Shorty Pants, Red Roof Lakeside Bar and Grill and several more. I had some of the best food I’ve ever eaten this weekend and understand why so many people go to the lake every weekend. Friday night did bring a bit of rain but the rest of the 4 days was perfect weather to ride. There were lots of vendors at the 4 Vendor Village locations and the Lake Ozark Harley was an awesome place to stop and pick up your Harley souvenirs and t-shirts. We want to thank The Marriott Tan Tara and The Inn at Grand Glaze for hosting our Full Throttle Gang. The accommodations were excellent. We also want to thank all of you who came to Bikefest for taking the ride and making this event a HUGE success. Thanks to our friend Tim Jacobson and all the people that make up the Bikefest committee for all of their hard work. Because of them we were able to have a great rally right here in our home state. I am already looking forward to next year’s Bikefest so watch for dates and details. Don’t forget that the Lake is a great place for a bike ride even when Bikefest is not happening. There are so many great back roads to ride, restaurants with great food and lots of first class places to stay. We are fortunate to have such an awesome place to ride and visit right here in Missouri. As October rolls in and the weather starts to change we still have lots of great rides and awesome events to go to. Here are a few to keep you busy…. Sunday, October 4 will be the Rat Run at Shady Jacks. Saturday, October 10 will be a huge party at Shady Jacks for their 19th Anniversary party. Waterstreet Bar & Grill will have the Ride for Pride also this day. If you’re looking for a fun ride the weekend of October 10th, take a ride to Dog Days Bar & Grill for the Lake of the Ozarks Annual Harbor Hop. Saturday, October 17 Halfway Haus will have its 5th Annual Fall festival. October 17-18 Doc’s Harley will be hosting their Fall Open House. Saturday, October 24 Ted’s Harley will bring the house down with their Halloween Bash. Saturday, October 31 will be a day full of Halloween Parties. Stop by any of these places to join in on the Halloween fun; Doc’s H-D, Hawg Pit BBQ Barn, Waterstreet Bar & Grill, Halfway Haus, and Fro’s Crossbones. Now let’s start to get you ready for the party of the fall at Casaloma Ballroom on Saturday evening November 21; The 24th annual Leather and Lace Bikers Society Ball. Full Throttle Magazine is proud to be the Motorcycle Magazine sponsor for this event. Call Full Throttle or check out www. Casalomaballroom.com to see where to buy your tickets. Get them soon before they are sold out. Look forward to seeing all of you and these events. As always, Ride safe and we will see you on the road with Full Throttle Magazine Bob

Sorry Boys, No Men Allowed!

The Do’s and Don’ts Of Riding Fashion

Some of you who know me, know that I’m a bit of a fashionista and love the bling. So when it comes to fashion vs motorcycle gear, I’m always looking for the cuteness as well as the functionality. Let’s break it down from head to toe. The Helmet: Nothing beats helmet hair right? NOT! But for those helmet required states, it’s a must. Whatever your preference is, the full face, three-quarter, half, or the novelty, you want to look cute. You try to find that one specific helmet that has that bling instead of the blah and you can say DAMN, I look good. Now, safety is the more important thing here; even over the cuteness. With the full face helmet, you can’t help but look like Robocop. Let’s just pull out our concealed firearm that is tucked away in our exterior leg armor and go after the next bozo that cuts you off; then again maybe not. Then you try on the three-quarter helmet, you look in the mirror and all you see is you’re sitting on the back of the Captain America bike in the movie Easy Rider; which would not be so bad as long as you are sitting behind Peter Fonda. Still undecided, you reach for the half helmet. LORD, you look like a mushroom. Is there any possible way to make this look cute? Maybe add a few studs along the chin straps. Well, you take a crack at the novelty helmet. It’s smaller, it’s lighter, and it comes in various shapes to fit your head. Most of them come in a gloss blah black. That’s an easy fix; go to your local craft store and buy some flat back crystals and bling it up. Whatever helmet style you choose, make sure you find that balance of the three S’s – Sassy, Sexy, and Safe. The Jacket: When buying a jacket, you always want to make sure it fits you properly. It needs to couture to your figure; you don’t want to look like Violet Beauregard after you just chewed blueberry pie gum. Know that you are going to be in a seated position with your arms stretched out in front of you. The back needs to be longer to prevent any of your fanny back showing. The body of the Page 8 www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

jacket should fit snug around the rib cage but leaving a little breathing room for your nibbly bits, if you know what I mean. When you try on the jacket, stretch out your arms. If the sleeves stop right behind the heel of your hand, you are good. Alright, now that you’ve found a properly fitted jacket, you got to look for the cute factor. Does it have the bling you’re after? Even if there is no bling, the proper fit will make you look good. The top: During the summer riding season, you general are not going to be wearing a jacket; unless you are really in the protective mode and fear the open road. None the less you should look good in the shirts and tops you buy. Remember, you are going to be traveling pretty fast and it is going to be very windy. When you are looking for a shirt or top, make sure that you are wearing ones that are somewhat fitted. Try to avoid wearing shirts that are overly blousy. Riding your motorcycle and looking like a boat sail is just not attractive. But, if you wear a shirt that is too tight, then it accentuates flaws that otherwise should be concealed. It’s a happy little balance dance that us as women have to play. Whatever style of shirt or top you decide to wear, it should be sassy and classy. The Pants/Jeans:

For total cuteness, please, for the love of all that is holy, stay far away from those saggy ass, high-waisted, 1980’s, Jordache mom jeans. There is nothing more unattractive then stepping off your bike and your pants look like you had an “Oh Sh**” moment from the back and the front looks like you are crowding more than your nickers. Jeans should fit your figure. When you are searching out for that right fitting jeans for riding, take into consideration that you are sitting. Try them on and sit down. You should not have a big gap in the back where it will allow air to flow down your backside; nothing like an “Air Enema”. But if the jeans are too tight in the waist, it will cause the God awful muffin top and panty exposure; not a pretty site. I have a curvy figure and the best fitting jeans are mid-rise to low rise with a higher back and a nice boot www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com Page 9

cut. They should lay smooth around your hips, legs, butt, and waist. To make sure that they maintain their shape, go for jeans that have a small amount of lycra or spandex. Most jeans these days have that in the fabric. If all else fails; SPANKS PEOPLE, SPANKS. Rule number one: make sure they fit you properly. Rule Number two: go for the bling. There are numerous manufacturers that bling the poo poo out of their jeans. Go for the sassy and sexy. The Boot: When looking for that riding boot, you do need to make sure that they are comfortable, especially when you are planning on doing a lot of walking; like Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Since you are all decked out, you do want cute feet to complete your ensemble. My favorite is cowgirl boots. There are so many fashionable styles of western boots. If you like that route, I would suggest to make sure the inner sole has great support and the outer sole is rubber, at least in part. This will allow your shoes to grip the pavement and not be slippery. Heel height is important. If you are not planning on walking much, you could possible get away with a higher heel. That is only if you are a passenger. It’s damn near impossible to shift when you are wearing spiked heels; I know I’ve tried. Keep the heel at a 2 ½ inch height, max; for comfort and functionality. The items that I would never recommend wearing while on the back of a motorcycle are shorts, skirts, and any open toed shoes. Protect your legs and feet from those extremely hot exhaust pipes. I made that mistake once in my life and got a bologna size burn on the back of my calf. Now that you got your clothing in check, it’s time to accessorize; the blingier the better. You can add earrings, necklaces, rings, and belts. Don’t forget your side bags; where else would you store your lipstick, compact, phone, money, and credit cards? Adding fun sparkly jewelry is a way to bring your outfit all together. When you are searching out for that perfect outfit, always, always remember; it is better to be Classy not Trashy and Sassy not Sleazy. Find what you love and fits you well and watch all the heads turn. Page 10 www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

HARLEY-DAVIDSON AND LAND SPEED RACING On October 16, 1970, the World Motorcycle Land Speed record was achieved at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway. At the time, Indianapolis crew member for Dan Gurney, and a two-time winner of the Daytona 200 - Cal Rayborn, did this when he attained a two way averaged speed of 265.492 mph in the 1970 Harley Davidson Steamliner. With numerous wins in his career, he is now recognized as one of America’s best racers of all time. Standing 25 inches high, 23 inches in diameter, with a 10 foot wheelbase; the Streamliner’s 16 foot long aluminum monocoque constructed body takes shape aerodynamically like a torpedo soaring down the track. During his practice runs, Rayborn ranked nearly 170 mph with a standard gas burning Sportster engine. Confined and enclosed in that combined chassis-body capsule design, he would have to lie on his back and steer by peering outside the windows. He crashed during several test runs due to this. The world record was accomplished by a two way average of 265.492 mph. The outgoing run was 266 mph, and the opposite direction was 264 mph. That record stood highest until 1975. Had the misfortune of Rayborn not breaking the valve seat on the return pass, causing engine failure 200 feet before the course end; the record would have been exceeded even higher and probably sustained more years. Nonetheless, the Harley Davidson Steamliner is still ranked as one of the fastest single motorcycles in the world history of speed records.

WHEN SPEED AN In this desolate area, nothing grows or reproduces except land speed records. So flat without deflection of bend, the strip extends into perpetuity. With no echoes, the only sounds are your heart beating like a hummingbird’s while you race the track and hear the agility of other machines as they propel by you. One of the fastest tracks in the whole entire world where you are the only car on the track being tried against the race of time. This is the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway. Near the town of Wendover; The Bonneville Salt Flats are located just off of Exit 4 on Interstate 80 in Utah, just before reaching the Nevada state line. Here you will find what looks like an eternity of snow reaching the horizon. Only it’s a 30,000 acre expanse of hard, white salt crust on the western edge of the Great Salt Lake basin. When this large amount of fresh water slowly disappeared over time, large concentrations of dissolved minerals were deposited in the soils that form the watershed for the Bonneville Salt Flats. These minerals include gypsum (commercially used to make household wallboard) and halite (common table salt). Potassium and magnesium are also present in smaller concentrations. When the salt flats are dry, it is generally safe to drive on them. The Southern California Timing Association and The Utah Salt Flats Racing Association host five major land speed record events that take place at the flats: Speed Week – Mid August BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials – Late August/Early September World of Speed – September Mike Cook ShootOut – September World Finals – October Three are different track courses. Any vehicle is allowed to run on the short courses, and records may be set on any of the three tracks. SHORT AND SPECIAL COURSE: 5 miles each; speed timed at 2nd and 3rd mile. ONE LONG COURSE: 8 miles total; speed timed at the 5th mile and the remainder for rundown. Qualifying for the long course required running a minimum of 175 mph in 2 ¼ miles on one of the short tracks. On the Long Course, a racer is given five different mph numbers. The first is referred to as the quarter and is based on average mph over a 1,320-foot timing trap that starts at the 2-mile marker.

Page 18 www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

ND SALT COLLIDE Next, the official time slip provides average mph numbers over three flying-miles: the 2 to the 3 (Mile 3), the 3 to 4 (Mile 4), and the 4 to 5 (Mile5). The 3 and 4 are referred to as the “middle mile”. The final timing number is called “exit speed”, or “terminal speed”, and is measured over a 132-foot trap at the end of the 5th mile. The Short and Special Courses apply the exact rules, except there are two flying miles times instead of three. RECORDS CAN BE SET IN NUMEROUS WAYS A vehicle isn’t required to run the full track if they can record qualify in the 1st or 2nd timed mile on the long course. The speed at the 5th mile is never used for a high qualifying speed; but if it turns out to be the fastest, the 3rd or 4th timed mile can be used in its place for record. With that being said; whichever mile the qualifying time was set on, the time at that same mile mark on the return pass will be what’s averaged to establish a record. Ex. Qualifying speed was at 2nd mile, so return speed at 2nd mile is averaged together. That race is that race. Any mph ran from a record return run can’t be used for qualifying of another record. Due to conflict of how world records were recognized, in 1924 The Association Internationale des Automobile Clubs Reconnus (AIACR) introduced new regulations of two passes in opposite directions (to negate the effects of wind) averaged with second run in the opposite direction. The average gradient of the racing surface to be not more than 1 percent, and timing gear accurate within 0.01sec. It gets a bit more technical. The racer must exceed the current record in their class by at least 0.001 mph. If that is accomplished, the car goes to Impound, where it is retained overnight for officials to certify compliance with that classes rules. The following morning the record qualifying cars perform their return runs to be averaged with the day before qualifying run. If their average is at least 0.001 mph faster that the existing record, and the vehicle passes another tech inspection promptly after the return run to verify engine displacement; then they establish a new land speed record. THE FIVE CRITERIA OF VEHICLE RACING CLASSES

2016’s

Welcome back Full Throttle readers and riders! Summer is winding

down and fall is just getting started! Honestly this is one of my favorite times to ride! Not only is the riding amazing this time of year but that also means it’s time to release the 2016 Harley-Davidson models! This year Harley released the stunning line up in sunny Las Vegas at the end of August and we saw some pretty interesting changes this year and I was very pleased as well as excited to see damn near all of them! Most everyone was very happy to see the return of the Road Glide Ultra which has proven to be a huge hit in its Road Glide Custom configuration! Now instead of buying the RG custom and having to order the matching tour pak and accessories, Harley has brought the ultimate in road touring to you in the full package right off the sales floor! With the fixed fairing, a spacious tour pak and bags, and too many amenities to list this bike is road ready for the open road from day one. Most of the touring line stayed the same but one big advantage is that all 2016’s come with the reduced primary cover featured on the Ultra Limited Low that maximizes ground clearance and saves leg room for the rider. We welcomed some amazing changes to the Softails in 2016! All Softails went to “fly by wire” throttling systems eliminating throttle idle cables and welcoming cruise control options that have been requested by Softail customers for years. Harley also introduced the high output 103 motors to all Softails and Dynas except the Street Bob. The big buzz from the Softail family was the addition of the one hundred and ten inch Slim S and Fatboy S! That’s right!! CVO power in a Softail frame without the CVO price tag! What more could one ask for? I had a chance to ride a Slim S and it was a fun ride. The S models come with a Hydraulic clutch, High Flow air cleaner and optimized exhaust to get you rolling the throttle Page 42 www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com Page 42

IN REVIEW right off the showroom floor. The Sportster line, which holds a spot in my heart, got some much needed love! One feature I really liked seeing was the new “steam roller” front end on the Sportster 48. A Small compact bike sporting a mid-glide front end with massive fork tubes and MT90 front tire! This bike really is something to stare at! Not to mention the MSRP of only $11,199 that gives you a lot of custom for a small price tag! The suspension on all the Sportsters got attention as well, no more seats and shocks that beat you up! The seats and shocks were redesigned with rider comfort in mind. Harley added better foam and placement for the seats and a new nitrogen filled shocks for the rear and cartridge style suspension up front. This combo gives the rider comfort and amazing responsiveness from an already nimble ride! The Motor Company strived to deliver big power to its late model big twins by offering some advanced motor options in 2016. If you don’t want the Slim S, Fatboy S, or the price tag of a CVO but you want the power applied to your own 07 and later Twin Cam motorcycle you are in luck! For the first time Harley now offers a 110” bolt on kit in a number of packages, from mild to wild, here at St Charles Harley-Davidson we can get that rear tire spinning for a very cost effective price tag! This year was an exciting year for Harley! There was a lot of forward thinking as well as l ong awaited requests fulfilled to both customers and those who work in the industry. To be honest there is just way too much to list about all the changes in 2016 so just stop on by and chat with me directly about any new bike or product that may peak your interest! Thanks for stopping by and yall enjoy the ride!

1957 Chevrolet 150 Custom Coupe Ram Jet 350ci Fuel Injected GM Performance Create Engine 5-Speed Manual Transmission A/C by Vintage Air Power Steering with Tilting Column Extremely Clean Reupholstered Interior Custom Grille & Front-End 1957 Chevrolet Series 150 A Coupe. Easily mistaken for its’ more expensive model the Bel Air; the Series 150 A was introduced in 1953 as Chevrolet’s economy and fleet model. Mostly bought by law enforcement agencies, government agencies, and small business; these cars were rarely sold to private individuals. However price frugal hot rodders soon realized the Series 150 was an excellent cheap platform to build from. MotoeXotica’s Series 150 was built with the hot rodder philosophy in mind. In true hot rod fashion this hardtop coupe has a crisp white base coat of paint with extremely well executed painted flames engulfing the front section of this Chevy. Clearly this paint job was performed by a highly experienced painter and it shows amazingly. There are only very minor imperfections, which are negligible and only visible upon close inspection. A tri-bar chrome front bumper sits beneath a custom grill and lighting mounts, all of which are in fantastic condition. Both fit and finishes on this Chevy are very well done; panel gaps and doors are ideal. Taking a step inside this Chevy it is clear the attention the exterior of the car received was not exclusive. Both bench seats have been reupholstered in a period correct vinyl with cloth inserts and are in ideal condition with no defects to be found. Newer refurbished gauges are placed in the very clean dashboard; all of the gauges are back-lit by a pale green light. However the temperature gauge and windshield wipers are inoperable. Air conditioning is provided by a newer Vintage Air system and is controlled by custom gauges that feel period correct. A more modern CD/radio unit is hidden to the left of the steering column. Newer carpet and headliner Page 50 www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

Car Mania have been placed inside and are in excellent condition as well. Every chrome accessory is in place and shows little signs of use. Powering this show quality Chevy is a General Motors Performance crate engine! The previous owner decided to remove the original motor for a new and highly upgraded Ram Jet 350ci small block; making a very reliable 350hp. General Motors’ Ram Jet engine includes an exclusive 9” intake system that clears the hood without worry, MEFI 4 engine management controller, new wiring harness, and modern electronic port fuel injection. This engine package has the appearance of a classic Rochester mechanical injection system with the reliability of a modern General Motors engine. A hydraulic roller camshaft and Vortec heads with a 9:4:1 compression ratio allows the engine to use pump-gas and leaves room for power modifications. Tremec 5-speed manual transmission is paired with the Ram Jet and is silky smooth with every gear change. Keeping the new performance engine cool is an aluminum radiator that is more than enough to keep the engine temperature in check even on hot days. Power front disc brakes and rear drums stop the car without any worry. The rear-end is original with upgraded replacement parts; while the front-end has been completely revised with new independent suspension geometry and “I Did It” tilting steering column with power steering too. This Chevrolet 150 Series A has everything that a hot rodder that wants a complete daily driver would want on their car installed professionally and it shows!
