Hello, Ladies. Welcome back. I hope Y’all had a great month of July. There was lots to do and see. From the 4th of July weekend to our GGG event and let’s not forget the Illinois Biker’s for Babies. It was a great month. One thing that I am a big advocate about is eating right and exercising. Everyone who knows me knows I enjoy keeping active. Now, I give myself some down time; you have to. It’s finding that balance. I mentioned last month that I always want to stay physically fit to help with my riding. Having the strength in my shoulders, arms, core and back helps me maneuver through turns and corners. The push and pull of the handlebars takes the use of my biceps, triceps and shoulders. I even use my back and core muscles to steer. Before I had a reverse on my trike, it took a lot of leg strength to back that beast up. And admittedly I would use the assistance of my husband to help. But, not too many bikes have a reverse and you will need to engage the strength of your legs to maneuver your bike. Aside from your muscle strength, there is your stamina. If you carry excess body weight, it can cause you to become sluggish and fatigue too easily. This is not good, especially if you are traveling long distances. If you are traveling you need to be alert at all times. Your reflex actions can become compromised if you get tire. Getting tired while you are riding your bike is way more dangerous than if you are in a car. So, it’s very important that you eat right, drink plenty of water and get an ample amount of exercise. This is good advice whether you ride a motorcycle or not. Jessica wrote in telling me that she loves to hike. That is her form of exercise. She also runs in several 5 and 10 K’s throughout the year. She loves being outdoors and riding a motorcycle keeps on that

trend. She rides a Honda Shadow. This is her first bike and even though it’s a smaller and lighter bike, she still notices that it does take specific muscle to maneuver her bike. Carly talked about one thing that I can completely relate with. She said that when she started riding, it was on a Harley sportster. She went on her first all day ride and by two-thrids of the way through the day, the muscles in her left forearm all the way down to her thumb were killing her. This was from pulling in the clutch lever. She never realized that it took even hand and lower arm muscles. Needless to say she was a bit achy for a couple of day after that ride. OK, on to the next topic; Detachments. What I mean by that is simple. Do you ride alone or do you always ride with one or more people. Some women purposly ride with someone and some women feel comfortable riding all by themselves. Me,I make a choice to always ride with my Husband. Not that I have any fear or lack of comfidence, I just don’t like riding alone. I would say my Husband is the one that has more fear of the fact if I were to ride without him. And, again not because he does not have faith in my riding ability. His fear is that if something, God Forbid, ever happen to me and he wasn’t with me, he would never forgive himself. He’s very protective of me and he always wants to make sure that I am safe at all times. Tell me your story. LADIES, LET’S CHAT! editor@fullthrottle-magazine.com
