Stiles Creek Snowmachine Trip

Transportation, snowmachine and helmet provided. Bring lunch, snacks, drinks and cold weather clothing. If the temperature drops below -10 degrees we will try to postpone to a warmer date.

Alaska Range Snowshoe

Geocaching in the Fairbanks Region (Chena Hot Springs); 11/16; 0800-1700 Fee: $20

Take the knowledge from the 101 class to the local community, go out and search for some of the hidden caches. This is a great way to see how geocaching really works and learn about different areas in your community. Makes for a fun filled family day activity.

New Fall Sessions! Fall Child Care Sessions:

Child, Youth & School Services provides limited child care for FAME programs. Child care is provided on site at Melaven Gym. When: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost: $35 per child per month Registration for the upcoming month’s sessions opens the 20th of each month. Children must be pre-registered at Parent Central Services, Bldg. 1049, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. AFC Benefits for families of Deployed Soldiers, Wounded Warriors, or Fallen Soldiers may be used to pay for this care. Thursdays, 0900-0930 at LFCAC Hands on Parent and Child classes designed to improve communication with young children. Families will learn signs through song and play–keeping it fun for everyone! This basic signing series of 12 classes will be offered on a rotating basis and is appropriate for families with children 9 months to 5 years of age. No cost to attend. Romp and Stomp Playgroup

Hired! Apprenticeship Program

Positions with ACS, SKIES, and CYSS now available! The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program provides youth with meaningful, professionally managed career-exploration opportunities in Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) operations. • Candidates must be 15–18 years of age • Must be registered with Child, Youth & School Services (CYS Services) • Must have and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better • Chosen participants are required to work 15 hours/week for 12 weeks • Additional options and requirements may be offered during the Summer Term • Apprentices may complete up to 2 terms/year for 3 consecutive years For more information, call the MWR Partnership Specialist at 361-9897. SCHOOL AGE CENTER | BLDG. 4166 | 361-7394 ANNUAL CANNED FOOD DRIVE Annual Can Food Drive community service project. SAC will collect food items during the month of November and distribute to the Food Bank of Fairbanks.

RECOGNIZING ALL VETERANS Throughout the 2nd week of November, children within the SAC program will develop cards defining their meaning for recognizing Veteran's Day. Cards will be delivered to the Veterans Office in Fairbanks and showcased on one of the local TV Station.

Prepare and educate yourself on how to be successful during the harsh Alaskan winters: It covers preparing your vehicle for winter (winterization), winter driving techniques, winter maintenance procedures, what to carry in your winter emergency kit in the car, proper clothing, caring for your pets in the cold, and much more. This is a Must for all newly arrived families.

A comprehensive developmental screening will be conducted to determine what resources are needed and available for your child to have a fun and successful school experience. NEW PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAM (NPSP) Offered to Army families to enhance parent and infant attachment, increase knowledge of child development, and provide connections to the support services that allow parents to become nurturing and capable caregivers. The NPSP staff consists of licensed registered nurses and social workers who provide in-home parenting education, support, and resource linkage.
