Inordertomaintainthesafetyandsecurityofourstudents,the Districtmayrequirevolunteerstobeprocessedforclearance beforeworkingwithchildren.(CAEducationCode§45125.01) Theschoolprincipalwilldetermineifyourvolunteeractivities necessitateabackgroundcheck.Thesitesecretarywillprovide youalinktothewebsite,whereyouwillbedirectedtocomplete theLiveScanapplication,paythe$52.00fee,andmakean appointmenttobefingerprinted.Yourcooperationinthis procedureisverymuchappreciated.Thefollowingmaybe requiredbeforeyouareacceptedasavolunteer:

AuthorizedvolunteersintheDistrictarecoveredbyworkers' compensationbenefitsinaccordancewiththeCaliforniaLaborCode foranyinjuryorillnesssustainedwhileinthespecificservicesofthe schooldistrict.Shouldyoubeinjuredwhileservinginthiscapacity, andthereforecoveredunderourWorkers'CompensationSelf-Funded Program,weneedtoadviseyouthatyouwouldnotbeeligibletofile anycivilclaim,actionorproceeding.
AutomobileLiability
Ifyouaretransportingstudentsinyourvolunteercapacity,theowner(operator)ofthevehicle mustcarryhis/herownliability.(MinimumLiabilityrequirements:$100,000perpersonto$300,000and$50,000 Liability/PropertyDamageperoccurrence).Pleaseprovidetoyour schoolofficeproofofliabilityinsurance,inthenameofthevolunteer, forthevehiclethatwillbedriven.AVolunteerVehicleFormmaybe completedforthispurpose.Pleasemakesureyoufollowpickupand dropoffdirectionsgivenbytheteachers.AllchildrenMUSTbe appropriatelyrestrainedinseatbeltsandchildrenunder8yearsof ageandunder4'9"needtobeinachildpassengerrestraintdevice.
