OUR 2024-2025 GOVERNING BOARD

The Role of the Governing Board

School districts and county offices of education are governed by boards, not by individual trustees. While understanding their separate roles, the Board and Superintendent work together as a "governance team". This team assumes collective responsibility for building unity and creating a positive organizational culture in order to govern effectively.

The Governing Board believes that its primary responsibility is to act in the best interest of every student in the district. The Board also has major commitments to parents/guardians, all members of the community, employees, the state of California, laws pertaining to public education, and established policies of the district.

INSPIRE: DREAMS START NOW EVENT SPARKS CAREER EXPLORATION

AMONG 8TH GRADERS

Eighth-grade students from across the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District gathered at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Suisun City for the annual Inspire: Dreams Start Now! event in October 2024.

This exciting career field trip, designed to inspire young minds, gave eighth-grade students from across the district the opportunity to discover their passions and explore a variety of career paths available within their local community.

Participating local organizations gave students hands-on experiences and a chance to explore real-world applications of their education, including CPR, financial literacy, medical professions and military careers.

The Inspire: Dreams Start Now event was a powerful opportunity for our 8th graders to envision their futures and discover the career possibilities available within our community.

SUCCESSFUL STUDENT CUSTODIAN PROGRAM

EXPANDED TO INCLUDE 59 STUDENT WORKERS IN 2024

The Student Custodian Program is part of FSUSD's broader commitment to providing meaningful work opportunities that equip students with life skills and practical experience.

In 2024, the Student Custodian Program expanded during its second successful year to include 59 student workers. These students participated in four hours of onboarding training, where they learned the basics of cleaning techniques and safe chemical use. Additionally, they received hands-on training from permanent custodians on how to deep clean classrooms, providing essential custodial support to the district's summer school programs.

This program not only serves as a valuable learning experience but also fosters a sense of responsibility and pride in maintaining a clean and safe school environment. By engaging students in this program, FSUSD emphasizes the importance of hard work, attention to detail, and teamwork skills that are valuable in any career path.

FSUSD remains committed to offering programs that not only support the operational needs of the district but also provide students with opportunities to grow, learn, and prepare for their futures The Student Custodian Program is just one example of how the district is dedicated to investing in its students' development.

This is my second year in the program, and it's been a really good experience. I've learned a lot, and I've recommended it to a lot of my friends.
