The2021/22schoolyearmarksthebeginningofKrisCorey'sninthyearasthe Superintendent of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. Ms. Corey has overthirtyyearsofexperienceineducation.Hercareerbeganwhenshewas recruited to Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District from South Dakota to teachattheelementarylevel.Afterthirteenyearsintheclassroom,Ms.Corey entered administration She has served as a teacher, Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal, Director of Elementary Education, and Assistant SuperintendentofEducationalServices.

In 2016 voters passed Measure J The purpose of Measure J was to upgrade, modernize and construct classrooms,sciencelabsandlibraries;improvestudentaccesstotechnology;repairleakyroofs,outdated electricalplumbingsystems;andimprovesafety,security,andaccessforstudentswithdisabilities.
TheSuperintendentofFSUSDisthetopadministratorintheDistrict. TheSuperintendentisresponsiblefor theentireDistrict.AstheSecretarytotheBoardandtheBoard’sonlyemployee,theSuperintendentworks withtheBoardasa“governanceteam”andassurescollectiveresponsibilityforbuildingaunityofpurpose, communicating a common vision, and creating a positive organizational culture. The Superintendent createsanddevelopsboardagendaswiththeassistanceoftheBoardPresident,BoardVicePresident,and administrative staff. Board meetings are held at least once each month. The Elementary Education Department is responsible for supportingandaligningthegoalsoftheFairfield-SuisunUnified School District with our preschool programs, K-5 schools, K-8 schools, and all special education programs housed within elementary schools. Elementary Education is responsible for organizing, planning, and coordinating the implementation of all aspects of the preschool-8th instructional program for nineteenelementaryschoolsandourCaliforniaStatePreschool Program.TheElementaryEducationstaffsupportsourdistrict's elementaryschoolstoensurethedeliveryofequitable,rigorous, robust,andrelevantlearningexperiencesforallstudents;where learningandstudentachievementisfostered.

Assessment and Accountability: CIA develops and uses assessment and accountability systems to monitor, improve, and extend educator practice, program outcomes, and student learning by increasing the collective capacity to apply a variety of tools and technology to gather feedback, organizeandanalyzemultipledatasources,andmonitorstudentprogressdirectedtowardimproving teachingandlearning.
ThemissionoftheEnglishLearnersandInstructionalSupport(EL-IS)departmentistoprovideschoolswith quality instructional support, guidance, and direction to improve instruction for English Learners and ensure their academic success This entails the implementation of proven, research-based instructional strategies that are utilized in conjunction with district-adopted resources to meet the academic needs of English Learners based on individually assessed needs. The department also provides guidance and support to sites receiving federal categorical dollars on the appropriate and ideal uses of the funds to improvestudentoutcomeswhilemaintainingcompliance. EL-ISprovidesthecoordinationandsupervision ofextendedlearningopportunitiesincludingbefore/afterschooltutoring.
The Instructional Materials Center houses educational materials. All current adoptions are available in additiontoanymaterialscurrentlyupforadoptionreview.ThedepartmentislocatedinsidetheTeacher SupportCenteronthethirdflooroftheCentralOffice.

The Special Education Department’s mission is to provide services and support to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in the least restrictive environment. FSUSD offers students 16 Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways across four secondary schools: Armijo High School, Fairfield High School, Public Safety Academy, and Rodriguez High School. Each pathwayspans11differentindustrysectorsallrelevanttolocalworkforceopportunities.
The pathways provide FSUSD's junior and senior students with a career-ready sequence of courses that equips them with vital life skills, appropriate to the ever-changing society. The Business Services Department has many areas of responsibility consisting of budget and accounting, technology support, facilities, maintenance and operations,studenttransportation, and student nutrition services. The business leadership team is committed to providing sound financial management for the District; school facilities that are clean, safe, and well-maintained; and other operational services to support the District's vision and academic objectives. The Benefits Department is responsible for administering FSUSDsponsored benefit plans. TheFiscalServicesDepartmentisresponsibleforthefinancialaccounting,aswellasthedevelopmentof thebudgetandmonitoringoftheDistrictfinances.ThedevelopmentofFSUSD’sbudgeteachyearinvolves acollaborativeanddetailedprocessthatengagesavarietyofimportanteducationalpartnersrepresenting students,parents,communitymembers,andschoolandDistrictstaff.
UndertheBusinessServicesDivision,thePurchasingDepartmentisdedicatedtoproviding schoolsitesand administrationwithahighlevelofcustomerservicewhileupholdingbusinesspracticestothestandardsset forth by local, state and federal mandates. The Purchasing Department works closely with school site and department staff to ensure all goods and servicesaredeliveredandreceivedatintendedlocations Itisofutmostimportancethatthedepartment workscollaborativelywithallstafftoensuretheitemsaredistributedtoschoolsitesandcentrallocations. TheultimategoalistoensureneedsoftheDistrict’sstudentpopulationaremetthroughtheprocurement ofgoodsandservicesthatwillassisttheminachievingtheireducationalgoalswhileatFSUSD.
ThePayrollDepartmentworksdiligentlytoensurethatallemployeesarepaidaccuratelyandtimelywith the correct tax withholdings and deductions in addition to assuring withholdings and deductions are remittedtotheappropriatevendorinatimelymanner.
TheFacilitiesDepartmentoverseesallaspectsofmanagingthedistrict'sbuildings,includingmaintenance, bondoversight,construction,issuingfacilitiesusepermits,energyconservationprograms,andmanaging variousreports.TheFacilitiesDepartmentworkstoensurethephysicalenvironmentsofschoolsareclean, safe,andwelcoming,aswellasequitableandenvironmentallyresponsible.
The Maintenance & Operations Department provides maintenance, groundskeeping, custodial and field servicesatdistrictlocationstoensureasafeandhealthyenvironmentforstudentsandstaff.Thisincludes maintenance of all district buildings, systems and related equipment and also preventative maintenance servicestomaximizetheusefullifeofdistrictfacilities.
Warehouse
TheWarehouseteamworkscloselywithnutrition, custodial, technology, and curriculum services to ensure all goods are delivered and received at intended locations. Additionally, the Warehouse department manages the distribution of essential itemstoschoolsitesandcentrallocations
The Technology Support Services (TSS) Department is responsible for technology support, installation, planning, approval, and procurement. The department also provides technology-related professional development for staff. The department maintains key software applications including the district’s Student Information System, Financial System, and Human Resources Enterprise Resource Planning Software. TSS coordinates the district’s data collection and submissions for the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) and other state and federal programs. The Department maintains the Google Domain for students and staff and the fleet of over 30,000 end user devices. Finally, the department is developing and implementing strategies for increasing the district’scybersecurityawarenessandpreparedness.
The Nutrition Services Department comprises a teamoffoodandnutritionprofessionalsdedicated tostudents'health,well-being,andabilitytolearn. Child Nutrition Services provides students with access to a variety of tasty, seasonal, and quality foodsthatmeettheirhealthandnutritionneedsto learn at school. All food and beverages sold or served on campus conform to State and Federal nutritionrequirements.
The goal of the Transportation Department is to provide a safe and positive riding environment for FSUSD bus riders. The Transportation Department provides home-to-school transportation to eligible special education and unsheltered students in accordance with board-approved bus service guidelines.
To ensure all students, regardless of income level,havethesuppliestheyneedwhenschools resumed, FSUSD partners with the Fairfield Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Partnership Engagement program to host the annualBacktoSchoolResourceFair.Familiesin attendance received backpacks filled with free school supplies to help them take on the academicyear.Thefairalsoprovidedschooland community resources and immunizations including COVID-19 vaccines for students and families.
Annually, FSUSD takes part in the "Inspire: DreamsStartNow!"careerfair
“Inspire:Dreams StartNow!”isauniquecareerinitiativedes to motivate children to find their passion pursue their occupational dreams within own community. Representatives from ov local agencies and businesses took part event These organizations hosted han activities and presentations to provide stu with the ability to explore career interest makecontactswithinlocalbusinesses.
Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District hosts theannualTrunkorTreateventeveryOctober. After a two-year hiatus, this year's event was at the Fairfield-Suisun Adult School cipants from FSUSD school sites and ct office departments elaborately rated their trunks, played games, and ed out candies and other goodies to renandfamiliesfromthecommunity.This sparticipantsprovidedafunandengaging for everyone in attendance by creating elaboratedisplaysusingcartrunks,truckbeds, canopies, and a dance party complete with DJ booth,lights,andvirtualreality.
