PROGRAM

Elizabeth King-Bennett is a passionate performer, educator, and advocate for new music. She has presented performances and masterclasses across the United States as a soloist and chamber musician, including premiers and commissions for solo saxophone, mixed duos, saxophone quartet, reed quintet, and saxophone ensemble. She has performed internationally as a guest artist at the Hong Kong International Saxophonist’s Symposium and at the Szechuan Conservatory in Chengdu, China. She maintains an active teaching studio and serves as a clinician and adjudicator, and she has taught at summer camps and festivals including Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Florida State University Band Camps, and Great Plains Saxophone Workshop. Beth is a member of the Civitasolis Reed Quintet, a nonprofit ensemble dedicated to promoting and performing new music by and for underrepresented communities. Since its establishment in 2017, Civitasolis has commissioned approximately two dozen works for reed quintet and has promoted creative musical activities including their online Reed Quintet Miniature Series, Virtual Happy Hour, and Composition Competitions. Beth is Adjunct Instructor of Music at Dallas College-Richland and is the saxophone instructor for Richardson ISD. She received the Doctor of Music degree from Florida State University, where she was a saxophone Teaching Assistant; the Master’s degree from the University of Iowa, and Bachelor of Music Education from DePauw University. Her former teachers include Geoffrey Deibel, Kenneth Tse, Scotty Stepp, and Adrianne Honnold.

Galen Dean Peiskee, Jr. has established a multifaceted career as an accomplished chamber musician, soloist, orchestral pianist, choral accompanist, and vocal coach. He has performed all over the United States as well as throughout the world in Austria, Poland, Italy, Greece, Spain, Cuba and Bolivia. Dean has enjoyed premiering works by Gregory Wanamaker, Gary Smart, Piotr Szewczyk, Paul Richards, Roger Zare, Timothy Hoekman, Stephanie Pieczynski, Valerie Coleman, Alyssa Morris, and Robert W. Smith. In Spring 2023, Dean was Visiting Assistant Professor in Lieu of Adjunct at Florida State University, where he earned the Doctor of Music degree in collaborative piano and Master of Music degree in accompanying. He also received an Artist Diploma from Texas Christian University, where he earned the Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance, and the Associate of Music degree from Kilgore College. His teachers have included Timothy Hoekman, Read Gainsford, José Feghali, John Owings, and Sandra Siler.
