The world as I like it

TALKING ABOUT OUR PROJECT The world as I like it is an etwinning project promoted by Via Monte Spada Infant school I.C. E. Cortis in Quartucciu (Italy ) and Secondary school Çağlayan Osman Hacıalioğlu in Rize(Turkey).

This project also envolved : Infant school Nipiagogeio of N.Filadelfia (Greece) Primary school ICS 12 Golosine di Verona (Italy) Primary school ICS 3 di Chieti Scalo (CH) Italy Primary school DDS 2° Circolo di Marsciano (Italy)

Our team of teachers shared a common idea and purpose , that is to promote active citizenship through collaborative activities among our pupils. We believe that kids can suggest a better way to manage and live in the world, starting from the place where they live.

Our objective were : To promote exploration capacity and collaborative work To increase the independence and resourcefulness of children in their learning process.

To improve communication, decision- making and problem- solving skills To develop and implement citizenship skills To develop sense of responsibility To use creativity and spirit of initiative All key competences were promoted, in particular : Personal, social and learning to learn competence.

Citizenship competence.

STARTING FROM OUR PUPILS

Meeting and introducing ourselves, the place we live, our favorite places, listening to the ideas and thoughts of our students was our starting point.

They told us about reality and imagined new possibilities, we listened to their desires and dreams.

Our students are the first fascinating world !

Students wrote, drew and started this path by using new and traditional ways to introduce themselves and to collaborate in all the activities

OUR FIRST WORD IS COLLABORATION

Despite the difficulties and the precautionary closures during this school year, our students have created and shared many common activities and experiences.

Exchanging cards for Xmas and New year was one activity that our kids loved, even the younger ones. Cards with their

PUPIL HOUSE IN GREECE

The first world for everybody is the house where we live.

One of the collaborative activities was to take pictures of our homes, stimulate observation and inspire the imagination.

So our students are committed to designing and telling the characteristics of their ideal home. It was interesting to compare the various projects and descriptions of our pupils from different ages and country. Some homes can look extremely fantastic - will this be the homes of the future?

Kids from Italy , Turkey and Greece imagined and designed their dream's house: they are colorful, enchanted, fantastic.

Make plans Make them in reality Through our project we have motivated our students to suggest solutions, carry out projects to build spaces or transform places close to them. A square in your own village or the same school garden can be designed following the proposals of the children.

Our students have designed, made cardboard models ,eventi made some initial intervention in the area, being active protagonists in living citizenship starting from their own city.

Fantastic worlds , fantastic tales

Developing the imagination was a goal in our project. Give space and voice to the thoughts of our students, discover fantasy world what their interests and passions are. One activity that saw the collaboration of older students was the invention of collaborative fantastic stories, born in one class and continued by pupils from another city.

A WORLD INTO THE BOX An activity that fascinated all the children of the schools involved was to contribute to the creation of a virtual museum in which all the works of our students have been collected.

TEN THINGS I CAN DO Choose and make things for a better world From an early age you can and must choose those daily behaviors that can contribute to making the world we live in livable and healthy.

Through playful activities, field activities, shared stories and reflections, the boys and girls of Italian and Greek infant schools have created a collection of ten possible actions that we can all follow to take care of our Earth.

Sorting waste, walking to school, knowing the importance of bees, we can make together a better world

SHOW US YOUR PLACE Through our project we motivated our students to research and choose those places in their country that they wanted to make known to their friends, partner of the project.

A great opportunity to deepen the knowledge of one's land and traditions and to broaden one's horizons by encountering a variety of worlds.

WE LOVE THE EARTH Our students wanted to celebrate Earth Day by sharing and advocating a message that they want to spread everywhere.

"Please, let's save the world" is a commitment to spread and to keep in mind every day.

The Earth is a place for everyone and we must all take care of it.

WE ARE THE WORLD AS I LIKE IT Throughout our path we have dedicated an important space to the meeting between our students, organizing them based on age. It was a way to get to know each other, to open one's gaze to a wider world, to start communicating by discovering the possibilities offered by a common language of exchange.

At the end of a year of activities carried out together we wanted for everyone.

Good sharing

Families and the local area were fully involved in our project, both for carrying out many activities, in surveys related to the educational path and in sharing what was achieved and in the final evaluation.

WHAT OUR PUPILS SAY At the end our students were interviewed and shared their opinions on what they did, on the activities that most involved them, on what they learned during this journey.

Their reflections are significant and narrate a true involvement of all the participants.
