Ms Stella Papavasiliou The attendance at Oakhill’s weekly Chess Club has increased substantially, and so has our players’ reputations. 2021 has been one of our most successful years, with players from both our Intermediate Teams and Senior Teams having great success against the mightiest of opponents.

Our Intermediate Team is developing into one of our most promising teams with a noteworthy win for Bradley Flannery (Year 9) against his opponent from James Ruse Agricultural High School. Our Board 1 Player, Moazam Baig (Year 9) won most of his games, and both Lachlan Rooney (Year 10) and Isaac Tocher (Year 9) have shown great promise for the future.
The year’s highlight has been the growth and progress of our Senior Team, consisting of its captain, coach and mentors Andrew Roseby (Class of 2021) and his fellow teammates Kristian Rendulic, Jacob Salkovic (both Year 11) and Daniel Burford (Class of 2021). This team has battled some of the top schools in the region and remained unbeaten, winning first place in the regional division.
The Finals were eventually abandoned due to COVID-19, however our Senior Team were awarded the Division trophy as they were the clear winners of the competition. Congratulations to both teams for their commitment, success and overall fabulousness.
