Although both the ISA summer and winter seasons were affected by COVID-19 again this year, our Oakhill sports women continued to show great talent and strength across many sports and divisions.
All players and Coaches must be congratulated on their patience and perseverance in less than ideal circumstances. Your commitment to Oakhill Sport is to be commended, and I am so disappointed we could not play out the season, especially for our Year 12 girls.
Firstly, congratulations to the Oakhill 4ths and Oakhill 5ths Netball teams. They were both undefeated when the ISA winter competition was interrupted and were consequently awarded the Minor Premiership in their respective divisions. Well done girls, you played some great netball this season and were very deserving of this award.
A special mention must also go to our talented Rugby 7’s players. Our 1sts team successfully took out the Division 2 Championship with a great win over St Scholastica. Fantastic effort, it is exciting to see how quickly our Rugby 7’s numbers are growing!
Congratulations to all our award winners across the summer and winter seasons and particularly to our 2021 Outstanding Contribution to Girls’ Sport Award recipient – Elizabeth Kitcher (Year 12). She displayed outstanding leadership and maturity across all aspects of Oakhill Sport and when required was always willing to assist. Elizabeth is to be commended on her achievements over the past two years of representing Oakhill College, including Oakhill Swim Team 2020, ISA Swim Team 2020, Oakhill Cross Country Team 2020, Oakhill Athletics Team 2020, Firsts V Basketball 2020/2021, Captain of Oakhill Swim Team 2021, ISA Swim Team 2021 and Oakhill Cross Country Team 2021.
BASKETBALL
There was a high number of registrations for the 2020/21 ISA Basketball season and Oakhill was pleased to enter four teams into the ISA competition. We experienced mixed results throughout the season, however, all teams displayed great sportsmanship during each game. I must take this opportunity to mention our fantastic Basketball Coaches. Every team this season was coached by an Oakhill ex-student which goes to show how much all our girls value their involvement in Oakhill College Sport.
Historically our 1st V Basketball team is formed around a handful of experienced basketballers and this season was no exception. The girls came together throughout the competition and although they did not take out the Premiership, all their games were closely contested which was fantastic for the spectators!
A special mention goes to Chelsea Hudson (Year 11) on her selection in the ISA Basketball team. We are very much looking forward to watching Chelsea take the court for Oakhill in the 2021/22 summer season.
TOUCH FOOTBALL
During a disrupted ISA summer season our newest sport - Touch Football continued to grow. The addition of this sport into the ISA competition has successfully provided the opportunity for more girls to be involved in summer sport.
Our 1st Touch Football team had mixed results throughout the season, however, the grading in the second half of the season allowed for some fantastic competition. Although the girls did not take out the Premiership, they only lost one game during the season. This was a great achievement in what was a difficult season to maintain consistency.
Congratulations to Amelia Polley, Piper Watson (both Year 11) and Beatriz Matias (Year 12) who were selected into the ISA Touch Football team. Well done girls!
RUGBY 7’S
The Rugby 7’s competition continued to build momentum this season with Oakhill entering two teams in the NSW Schoolgirls competition. Many of the girls were returning from the Term 4 competition and we saw an influx of new Year 11 girls wanting to play Rugby 7’s. Numbers at training were consistently over 20 and we were thrilled to see the enthusiasm and willingness to listen and learn.
Our 1st team had a fantastic season and made the Grand Final of the Division 2 Senior

competition. The match was very exciting, with some great rugby on show. Our Oakhill girls fought hard and came away with the win!
A massive congratulations to Charlise Cleary and Mikeeli Lake (both Year 11) who, after a great season, were rewarded with selection in the CIS Rugby 2nds team. Well done girls!
FOOTBALL
Both our 1st and 2nd Football teams experienced quite a tough season in the 2021 ISA winter competition. The 1st XI girls indeed overcame many challenges including their fair share of injuries, however, they continued to arrive on game day with a positive attitude and displayed some excellent talent week in and week out. Our 2nd Xl girls were placed in an extremely challenging division. Unfortunately, just as their year was about to improve with some better competition, the season ended abruptly. It is a credit to the girls and their Coach that they managed to maintain enthusiasm and effort throughout their matches. A special mention must go to Jemma Bateup (Year 11) on her selection in the 2021 ISA Football team. Well done Jemma.
HOCKEY
Oakhill College Hockey .. you never know what you are going to get! One thing is for sure, our team is always based around school spirit and 2021 was no exception. Before the ISA winter season was cut short, our Hockey girls were making great progress, with an evident increase in both skill level and understanding of the game. What a great way to complete the short season with an impressive draw against Barker College. Well done to all the team for ensuring the mighty Oakhill Hockey team remains strong for another year running.
A huge congratulations to Lara Bovey and Katelyn Steele (both Year 12) on their selection in the 2021 ISA Hockey team. This is the first year Oakhill has had two ISA representatives – what an achievement!
NETBALL
Once again, the strength of Netball here at the College was on show and our teams were performing well throughout all divisions when the season was cut short. Oakhill entered six teams across five divisions with the majority of these teams sitting in 1st or 2nd place at the conclusion of the competition.
Our 1st Netball team was gaining some good momentum throughout the season and once again displayed great talent across the court. What a shame the season could not be played out, as I have a feeling another brilliant show-down against Barker was looming in the Finals. Congratulations to Charlise Cleary (Year 11) and Indigo Kelly (Year 12) who made the ISA Netball team for 2021!
