CHARITY & OUTREACH
CULTIVATING COMMUNITY THROUGH CREATIVE AND IMPACTFUL CHARITY INITIATIVES & PARTNERSHIPS
Frensham Heights School instils a deep commitment to philanthropy, empowering students to drive meaningful change through innovative fundraising and community engagement. Our student-led approach begins with a schoolwide nomination and voting process for a chosen charity, ensuring broad participation. Last year, the school supported The Fountain Centre; this year, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) was chosen, with junior school efforts also benefiting Mary’s Meals.
Beyond school initiatives, Friends of Frensham has dedicated a percentage of their profits to a local charity, the Woodlarks Centre.
Fundraising for GOSH has been exceptionally creative and student-driven, including our whole-school 8km walk, a Year 9 student shaving his head, and a Year 10 student running two half-marathons and organising popular hot chocolate sales. The Junior School even incorporated fundraising into their Peter Pan production, given J.M. Barrie’s historical gift of performing rights to GOSH. Other successful events included handmade item sales, discos, cake bake-offs, and a raffle. The school also hosted a Bold and Brassy concert for GOSH.
Beyond fundraising, we also support intergenerational community engagement. Students have made weekly visits to Gostrey Brightwell elderly day centre, offering games, art and performances. Year 4 hosted afternoon tea for Farnham Assist elderly guests and Year 5 shared historical dioramas. Senior students also serve monthly Sunday lunch for Farnham Assist clients.
Our comprehensive programmes cultivate compassionate, responsible and engaged citizens who understand the profound impact of their actions on the wider community.
We are also dedicated to fostering impactful partnerships and outreach initiatives, enriching both our students and the local community. These collaborations are integral to our educational philosophy, providing unique learning experiences and strengthening connections.
Our weekly visits with the Acorn Group from a local primary school exemplified our commitment to inclusive education. Year 9 and 10 students engaged with SEND children, leading varied sessions from crafts to animal petting. These interactions cultivate empathy, leadership and adaptability, fostering genuine connections through shared activities.
We hosted our annual Sports Tournament for local state junior schools. Our sports leaders meticulously organised the event, championing sportsmanship and teamwork. This developed valuable organisational skills for our students while offering a platform for visiting schools to showcase athletic talents and build friendships.
Our performing arts programme extends beyond campus, offering local schools access to our theatre for performances, professional Shakespeare productions, and curiosity lectures. We also share our vibrant musicals and plays. A strong partnership with Junction 4 Big Band culminates in an annual concert where our pupil singers perform with the band, offering unparalleled experience and a wonderful community evening.
Collaboration also thrives in our dance department, where local rugby coaches work with our dancers to choreograph pieces for young players. Our IT outreach programme at Bordon Junior School sees our students teaching coding with robots to Year 4 students, inspiring computational thinking.
Throughout the year, we offer eighteen diverse workshops in areas like Greenpower racing, performing arts, and outdoor education to surrounding schools, igniting new passions and broadening horizons.
At Frenham Heights, these partnerships are fundamental to our identity, reflecting our belief in the transformative power of collaboration, fostering empathy, and building a stronger, more connected community.
