Last week I had a fun week here at Hy-Vee with my Hy-Vee Kids’ Camp. Each day kids ages 6-12 came in for 2 hours and learn about healthy eating, play a game, do something active with me and then cook their own lunch. One day kids tried new fruits and veggies they had never had before and were quite open to this after being able to pick them out in the store on their own. Asparagus, jicama and Brussels sprouts were some things that were tried. That day we made pizza wraps and I thought you might enjoy this quick and easy recipe too: Each wrap is individual and it is up to the eater to choose his/her own ingredients in the wrap: 1 whole grain tortilla 1-2 tbsp. pizza sauce Amy Pleimling 1 string cheese – broken up into slices Blanched asparagus in 1 inch bits Registered Dietitian Blanched zucchini in small bite sizes Cut up green onion Mushrooms Place your sauce in your tortilla and put 1 piece of string cheese in the middle (I broke up the cheese so it melts better). Then add your toppings and wrap it up. Put a toothpick in so the wrap stays closed. Bake at 350 for 5-10 minutes until the cheese melts and you have your pizza wrap. Yum!

Last week I had a fun week here at Hy-Vee with my Hy-Vee Kids’ Camp. Each day kids ages 6-12 came in for 2 hours and learn about healthy eating, play a game, do something active with me and then cook their own lunch. One day kids tried new fruits and veggies they had never had before and were quite open to this after being able to pick them out in the store on their own. Asparagus, jicama and Brussels sprouts were some things that were tried. That day we made pizza wraps and I thought you might enjoy this quick and easy recipe too: Each wrap is individual and it is up to the eater to choose his/her own ingredients in the wrap: 1 whole grain tortilla 1-2 tbsp. pizza sauce Amy Pleimling 1 string cheese – broken up into slices Blanched asparagus in 1 inch bits Registered Dietitian Blanched zucchini in small bite sizes Cut up green onion Mushrooms Place your sauce in your tortilla and put 1 piece of string cheese in the middle (I broke up the cheese so it melts better). Then add your toppings and wrap it up. Put a toothpick in so the wrap stays closed. Bake at 350 for 5-10 minutes until the cheese melts and you have your pizza wrap. Yum!
