Eat More Fruits and Vegetables!

Any Dietitian will tell you…so here are 10 tips to get you on your way to eating 5 servings every day.

1. Variety is never ending when using vegetables as pizza toppings. Try broccoli, spinach, bell peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and zucchini.

2. Make a veggie wrap with roasted vegetables and low-fat cheese rolled in a whole wheat tortilla.

3. Stock your freezer with frozen vegetables in steam-ready bags. Pop them in the microwave or stir-fry them on the stove for a quick, healthy side dish.

4. Top a baked potato with beans and salsa or broccoli and cheese.

6. Microwave a cup of vegetable soup as a snack or with a sandwich for lunch.

8. Add grated, shredded or chopped vegetables such as zucchini, spinach, or carrots to lasagna, meat loaf, mashed potatoes, pasta sauce, and rice dishes.

9. Make a habit of adding fruit to your morning oatmeal, cold cereal, yogurt, or toaster waffle.

10. Stuff an omelet with vegetables. Broccoli, squash, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, or onions. Top your creation with some sharp cheddar cheese.
