Dear Resident, RE: UPCOMING ROAD WORKS ON FRANCIS STREET, YARRAVILLE
We advise of upcoming changes in traffic conditions in your local area as a result of drainage works associated with the widening and upgrade of Francis Street, Yarraville.
These temporary traffic management measures are scheduled to be carried out from 7th October 2023 until the end of January 2024 along Francis Street, between Urwin Street and Gent Street. Construction will take place Monday – Friday between 07:00 to 16:30
The speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/h in the vicinity of these locations during the period of works. The work will impact the westbound lanes along the southern part of Francis Street between the above two intersections. During this period, both westbound lanes will be closed for approximately a 500‐metre section and traffic will be funnelled into a single lane on the northern side. Kerbside parking will be temporarily prohibited in the section of Francis Street directly within the vicinity of the work areas.
Traffic management associated with these works will be undertaken in compliance with the plans approved by the Department of Transport and Planning. These measures include implementation of speed reduction within the vicinity, installation of road barriers, and temporary bollards.
This temporary lane closure is a critical component of the widening and upgrade of Francis Street, which will enhance the daily traffic capacity and reduce travel time for the community.
