Since Monaco’s reputation as a playground for billionaires, royalty, and celebrities is well known, it may not be the first destination that comes to mind when you think of meditation. And since this photo shows me in full velvetblazer-glam-mode posing in front of Monaco’s legendary casino, you might be surprised to learn that I meditate regularly. In fact, I love the spiritual paradox of meditating Monaco because it reminds me to keep my feet on the ground. Especially when I’m posing for photos in full velvet-blazer-glam-mode in front on the Casino!
But that’s exactly why I love that tiny principality on the French Rivera so much. Every extreme is celebrated. And as you’ll see in Julia Zaltzman’s ode MONACO MYSTIQUE on PAGE 134 , there's way more to do in Monaco than just meditate.
And speaking of elegant contrasts. How about attending a polo match on a frozen lake in St. Moritz? JQ Louise captures the glamor of the action on the pitch, and the haute-couture-clad social scene in the stands of the 40th annual World Cup event in SNOW POLO IN ST. MORITZ on PAGE 42 . Meanwhile, legendary yachting writer Jill Bobrow not only explains how two of the most recognizable yacht design frms Venice, Italybased Nuvolari Lenard and UK-based Reymond Langton collaborate to create some of the world’s largest and most expensive superyachts in CREATIVE COMBUSTION on PAGE 28 . The
story also includes some rare photos that show just how mind-boggling the interior of Shaid Kahn’s 400-foot-long Kismet is.
Jill has also written the defnitive story of how Turquoise Yachts is leading Turkish superyacht shipbuilding into the 21st century, TURQUOISE YACHTS PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE on PAGE 72 . And she travelled all the way to the Philippines to report on all the sustainable, materials Nature Squared are making for superyachts in NATURE SQUARED on PAGE 66 .
I sincerely hope you enjoy this reading this issue as much as we have enjoyed putting it together. And we’d love to hear from you. Please send any comments, questions, suggestions, and ideas for future stories to me at billsboards@gmail.com. I promise I’ll respond.

What do the 357-foot, Oceanco-built M/Y Bravo Eugenia and the 400-foot, Lürssen-built M/Y Kismet have in common?
Well, in terms of visuals not much at all. They sport distinctive profles that bear no resemblance to each other, and they have extremely disparate interior designs. Still, there is common ground. The two represent a collaboration between Italybased Nuvolari Lenard and UK-based Reymond Langton two well-known rockstar superyacht design studios.
Both NL and RL have been responsible for designing some of the world’s most iconic superyachts afloat. Bravo Eugenia and Kismet belong to that category. In the case of each yacht, NL was the exterior designer and RL was the interior designer.
Coincidentally, both yacht owners are Americans who own NFL teams. Jerry Jones, owner of Bravo Eugenia, owns the Dallas Cowboys, and Shahid Khan, owner of Kismet , owns the Jacksonville Jaguars as well as the Fulham FC of the Premier League. Also, he is co-owner along with his son, Tony Khan of All Elite Wrestling.
Bravo Eugenia , delivered in 2018, debuted Oceanco’s LIFE Design platform the acronym is derived from its description as “Lengthened, Innovative, Fuel-efcient, and Eco-friendly.” She has a single tiered engine room allowing for an
optimized long and slender hull shape, resulting in a reduction in overall propulsion power demand. Nuvolari Lenard created a streamlined exterior. “The proportions of Bravo Eugenia were divided so that one third of the yacht would have free deck aft of superstructure and two thirds forward,” says Carlo Nuvolari, partner in Nuvolari Lenard. “Bravo sports what we call the ‘arrow’ shape whereby the volume of superstructure is wider than the af part.”
“We worked closely with Nuvolari Lenard on the exterior styling,” says Jerry Jones. “For instance, we went back to the drawing board on several occasions to get the bow just right...
“We experimented with several bows,” recalls Nuvolari. “In the end we and the owners collaboratively decided on a vertical shape to maximize the waterline length, with a straight but slightly reversed bow a kind of submarine-type shape. In general, a military look was adopted, adorned by a stainless-steel stem.”
Another important line is the arch connecting the af deck with the upper part of the superstructure via the glass fashion plates. These plates connecting the decks are aesthetically important, but they also have a fundamental
practical efect: they protect the guests from the wind and also allow long-ranging views when sitting on af decks.
Bravo Eugenia was Reymond Langton’s frst collaboration with both Oceanco and Nuvolari Lenard. “The interior design is contemporary with a calm atmosphere formed from light quilted maple wood, with contrasting architectural elements of Macassar ebony and ebonized walnut foors,” says Pascale Reymond, partner in Reymond Langton. “Pearlized lacquers and natural fnishes such as
ivory onyx, mother of pearl, and rock crystal add a refned level of detail.”
RL worked with artisans and crafsmen such as Based Upon, Nature Squared, and Silverlining in creating bespoke artworks, natural finishes, and signature furniture pieces. It is common for Reymond Langton to become intricately involved in artwork and custom pieces woven into their various yacht designs. They did the same with Kismet, using bespoke suppliers such as Based Upon and anodized aluminum specialists Neal Feay.
Yacht designers and architects often have the reputation of being ego driven and overly interested in creating odes to their design brands. However, In the case of Bravo Eugenia and Kismet, the designers were dealing with owners who themselves had strong opinions. Nuvolari Lenard and Reymond Langton had to listen carefully.
Dan Lenard, partner in Nuvolari Lenard, has been known to remark that “most people never see the interior of a yacht but if they are
out on the water, a yacht’s exterior is what makes an impression.” Kismet’s long, sweeping, midnight blue hull with its pointy bow is highly recognizable. Not just another white, tiered wedding cake of a superyacht, she has created a stir wherever she has been spotted in Monaco along the quay, under London’s Tower Bridge, docked in Jacksonville, Florida, and anchored of St. Barths.
One particularly defning feature of Kismet’s superstructure is her funnel mast, which Nuvolari says resembles a large Samurai helmet. Metaphorically speaking, it is a sign of power and dominance and contains the stylistic element of the “K” of Kismet, which is found in the bottom of the swimming pool and has become the ubiquitous logo of the yacht. Another unique NL
{Reymond calls Kismet "a oating land of contrasts."
{One particularly defining feature of Kismet ’s superstructure is her funnel mast, which Nuvolari says resembles a large Samurai helmet.
design element is the slender bow with very long bowsprit beneath which is the striking Art Deco silver jaguar fgurehead.
As Reymond Langton was also responsible for the interior design of the previous two Kismets, a 68-meter and a 95-meter, they had already established a good working relationship with the Khans. “They challenged us to push the boundaries of innovation and creativity and to surpass previous accomplishments,” says Reymond. “Mr. K sought a yacht that was not just an extension of his previous vessels but something entirely new avant garde, yet timeless.” And while that does seem like a contradiction in terms, Reymond
shrugs and calls the yacht design “a foating land of contrasts.”
The main salon features two mesmerizing double-height video walls, made possible by two atriums and glass foors spanning from the main deck to the upper deck. The video walls on opposite sides of the salon entrance are individually controlled to display infnite types of programmed scenes or to refect the outside environment. All of the interior spaces are dramatically sumptuous utilizing polished marble, glass, mirrors, and grand chandeliers. There is hand-painted de Gournay wallpaper, and a fresco ceiling inspired by the Sistine Chapel.
Kismet ’s interior feels like walking onto a glamorous movie set. Pascale Reymond, who always has a bubbly personality, was practically bouncing up and down as she toured Kismet with me. “Imagine you are a time traveler,” she says, “and we are at a costume ball at Versailles, perhaps in the Galerie des Glaces [Hall of Mirrors] during Louis XIV’s rule. And now we move to an Art Deco theater in 1920s Hollywood.” Each area over the six decks is meticulously designed and curated to evoke a sense of discovery and wonder.
The staterooms refect a contemporary twist on some of the owners’ favorite fashion designers and luxury brands. You can meander from 15thcentury Venice to 17th-century Versailles to the Roaring Twenties of The Great Gatsby on Long Island. At the same time, you can immerse yourself in the world of Hermès, Coco Chanel, and Lalique. Then, just when you think you have been time traveling to a bygone era, you can fast forward to outer space with the TRON engine
room corridor, where you have a great vantage point into the immaculate engine room.
Other standout features include the glass bulwark in the lower deck cinema and Nemo lounge, which has extra-large windows that dip below the waterline. Also onboard, there are three pools, four freplaces, two fre pits, a spa with a hammam, sauna, and cryotherapy chamber, a gym, a basketball court, a pickleball court, and a helipad.
Both Bravo Eugenia and Kismet are complex constructs. There are many technical considerations for superyachts of their magnitude. Design teams such as Nuvolari Lenard and Reymond Langton are certainly imaginative, creative, and savvy, but they cannot simply take of on fights of fancy and wave a magic wand; collaboration among the builders, suppliers, engineers, owners, and fellow designers is key. Given Bravo Eugenia and Kismet, Nuvolari Lenard and Reymond Langton have demonstrated that they not only can give their personal best, but they are team players as well.
{St. Moritz celebrates 40 years of equestrian action in the Alps.
The frozen Lake of St. Moritz once again played host to one of the world’s most exclusive and exhilarating sporting events this January: the 40 th Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz.
Over the course of three unforgettable days, an elite audience from around the globe gathered to witness the only highgoal polo tournament played on snow.
This year, I had the privilege of attending the Snow Polo World Cup for the very frst time, and it exceeded every expectation. From the heart-pounding matches to the haute-couture-clad social scene, this event is truly in a league of its own. As I reflected on the weekend while sipping a glass of Perrier Jouet in the stands, I knew this would become an annual tradition Snow Polo has ofcially won a permanent place on my winter calendar.
The Snow Polo World Cup is no ordinary sporting event it’s a convergence of the world’s best polo players, celebrities, and discerning travelers who value exclusivity and just a good ole’ time.
The matches, featuring international polo stars such as Guillermo “Sapo” Caset and Nacho Figueras, delivered intense competition and breathtaking skill.
Each swing of the mallet and charge down the snowy pitch drew cheers from the crowd, underscoring why this event remains a bucket-list experience for polo enthusiasts.
“This 40 th anniversary is an incredibly important milestone for all of us,” says founding father Reto Gaudenzi. “It is a very special opportunity to look back on the impressive development of the tournament and at the same
time to celebrate the future of snow polo. We are very much looking forward to sharing this fantastic event with our partners, players, and visitors.”
The 40th anniversary celebrations included special tributes to the tournament’s origins. Attendees were treated to a retrospective of the event’s history, showcasing how Reto Gaudenzi’s bold vision transformed snow polo from a daring experiment into one of the most celebrated fxtures on the global sporting calendar. There was also a black tie gala at the famed Badrutt’s Hotel in the center of town which of course was yet another excuse for the local glitterati to outdo one another

in the fashion department. Trust me, the peoplewatching throughout this weekend in St. Moritz is second to none in the winter fashion department. While the action on the frozen lake captivated audiences, the social scene was equally as dazzling. The Polo Village is filled with luxury boutiques and gourmet food and drink oferings. So, between breaks in the action on the pitch, there is plenty to explore nearby. And if you opt for a VIP ticket, you get access to a reserved seating area overlooking the pitch as well as a VIP tent that has seemingly endless options for fne dining, more champagne, and goodies from the event sponsors.
St. Moritz, of course, has a reputation as a playground for the world’s elite on any given weekend, and the Snow Polo just brings out the top of the top in all regards. The combination of luxury accommodations, fne dining, and worldclass service ensures that Snow Polo World Cup players and spectators are treated to a weekend they are sure to remember for a long time.
This event is more than a sporting competition; it’s an invitation to be part of a global tradition that combines the best of sport, style, and sophistication. As I watched the fnal match unfold with the sun glinting of the frozen lake, I found myself already making plans for next year. Mark your calendars for 2026 this is one event you’ll want to make into your own annual tradition.

{From high-tech spas to cryotherapy treatments, wellness gets top billing in today’s superyacht eet.
Once upon a time, a hot tub was considered a prized feature for a superyacht. But as modern owners have become more focused on wellness, the demand has grown for state-of-the-art spas to soothe the mind and invigorate the body in ways that go far beyond simply soaking in yet another hot tub.
Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to find a marble hammam, an infrared sauna, or even a snow room built into a yacht’s design. Some go even further, with multi-deck wellness areas containing fitness studios, beach clubs, and even medical clinics that exceed what the most exclusive 5-star resorts provide.
Take for instance the 122-meter Lürssen yacht, Kismet that wowed the world at the Monaco Yacht Show last year. Everyone agreed the vessel’s exterior was striking. But what really got tongues wagging was the yacht’s Balinese-inspired “wellness suite” that features a dizzying number of wellness-specifc spaces including a hammam, sauna, cryotherapy chamber, therapeutic tub, massage room, and rain showers. It also has one of the most beautiful relaxation areas I’ve
seen on a yacht, which features heated loungers surrounding a fre, and stones that have been strategically embedded into the foor to provide refexology. There’s also a well-equipped gym and yoga studio, a juice bar serving detoxifying or energy-boosting drinks, and a beauty salon. In short, it’s Shangri-la.
Many yachts, especially those hoping to attract charter guests, put wellness at the top of their must-have lists. For instance, Eternal Spark, built by Bilgin Yachts, provides alfresco yoga classes on its large deck, purifying experiences in its sauna and steam rooms, and specially designed detox meals prepared by a Michelin-level chef.
Designers are also placing wellness facilities in premium spaces instead of hiding them away on a lower deck in the center of a yacht. On 72-meter
Tankoa yacht Solo, the sauna built from fne woods has a prime spot with a large window so users can watch the world go by while they relax.
Judging by the industry’s latest concept yachts, the wellness trend is only gaining momentum.
When concepting a design for Oceanco’s Simply Custom line, leading British studio Winch Design chose to craf the whole yacht around the notion of wellness. Reverie features an “innovative three-deck ‘beach and wellness’ experience” in which a main deck “pool lounge” leads to an expansive lower deck spa and gym that connects with a shaded af pool and bar, leading to the sea.
Meanwhile Amsterdam-headquartered frm Dutch Design has designed what it’s calling “the world’s only wellness-frst yacht.” Founder Scott Blum drew on his own experience as a seasoned yacht owner to create the concept of 42.5-meter Sea Rover. “I’ve seen frst-hand the demand for a new lifestyle at sea one that encourages activity and wellness,” he says. “Sea Rover is for the owner who likes to wake up and jump in the water, work out, go diving, and uses all the toys. It’s integrating travel with total well-being something that has never been done before on a boat.”
Created in partnership with Dutch yacht designer Bernd Weel, Sea Rover features California-inspired minimalist interiors designed to evoke tranquillity through natural woods, stones, and earth-toned textiles. A state-of-theart spa, gym, and sports courts (for pickleball,
basketball, paddle tennis, and volleyball) are set on the bridge deck of the yacht, rather than tucked away below, meaning guests can enjoy 360-degree views of the sea as they exercise or relax with a spa treatment. A beach club with foldable wings and an expansive swim platform completes the wellness ofering.
Many larger yachts, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic, also feature medical clinics that are kitted out with all the latest technologies and staffed by experienced doctors and nurses who are on hand to ofer medical care if needed.
The trend for wellness on yachts is being led by owners who are using their vessels as second homes rather than just for holidays. Of course, there will always be a time for Champagnefueled parties and opulent dinners, but it seems that for the modern owner who knows that health equals wealth, a well-equipped spa can provide the right balance.

words RACHEL INGRAM photography COURTESY OF HEESEN YACHTS
As people increasingly view their four-legged friends as an integral part of their family, a new breed of pampered pooch is cruising aboard specially equipped yachts that have been customized to enhance safety and comfort.
When Dutch superyacht builder Heesen delivered 50-meter Amare II, it paid close attention to the owners’ prized pets: Jessie, a cocker spaniel, and Vidar, a Swiss shepherd. So the yacht was built with several dog-friendly features including mesh nets to keep the dogs of the swim platform, augmented tenders with a grippy custom cushion at the bow that allows both dogs to jump safely into the boat, and specially conceived bathing platforms from which the sizeable Vidar can be lowered into the water and then lifed back out easily. There are also special dog beds in the primary cabin as well as in the owners’ son’s room.
For Ultra G, a full-custom 50-meter delivered in 2024, the shipyard went a step further with a dedicated area for canine guests and a smart “dog relief” patch with a self-flushing synthetic grass area the innovative feature is controlled by sensors and cameras and is automatically cleaned by sprinklers.
German superyacht builder Lürssen faced a particular challenge for one superyacht owner’s dog that refuses to relieve itself on anything but real grass. Lennart Pundt, head of
project development for Lürssen, revealed that the shipyard tackled this issue by creating an irrigation system in a recess on the deck featuring real grass that, with the aid of fertilizers, grows year-round, even in hot climates.
Safety for pets onboard is a primary concern for several yachts including Heesen’s Rocket and Ocean Z that have been adjusted with small furry friends in mind and include special features such as safety rails and extra-small staircase gates. Accessibility is another key consideration. Looking at Dutch shipyard Feadship’s Aquarius, the owner’s office features a dog door panel behind the desk, while on Lady Christine, another Feadship, door sensors are positioned at dog height so four-legged friends can get around easily.
As superyacht owners enjoy extended stays aboard, accommodating pets has become a primary demand and crew ofen require special training to take care of the precious pets. But as Captain Nick Powell of Amare II says, this is ofen a welcome challenge: “The crew like having dogs on board it’s good for their mental health, and their routines help to give a focus to the day.”
{Rolls-Royce doubles down on owner individuality with the Black Badge Cullinan Series II.
Rolls-Royce may be a quintessential “heritage” brand. But, as you can see, nothing about the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinan Series II pictured here is old fashioned. In fact, it’s as disruptive, assertive, unique, and uncompromising as you can get.
“Black Badge Cullinan Series II reflects the changes we’ve seen in our client profile since we frst launched this transformative motor car fve years ago,” says Anders Warming, director of design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “Today, selfexpression, individuality, and boldness are demanded more than ever before all attributes that form the core of the Black Badge attitude.” Elegance with attitude. Yes, please.
{A JCraft Torpedo is more than just a boat.
As a writer, I'm constantly striving to capture in words the essence of the yachts I'm lucky enough to experience in person. But I think I might have met my match when it comes to describing the JCraft Torpedo. Words like beautiful, powerful, rare, exclusive, luxurious, etc. are simply not enough.
A close-knit team of boatbuilders on the ancient Swedish island of Gotland only build two a year. And the boats they build by hand are as fast, maneuverable, and seaworthy as they are timeless, elegant and yes, ravishingly beautiful.
But, you really should see one for yourself. Only then will you really understand how special owning one could be.
PICTURED: Nature Squared creates art by combining traditional craftsmanship, cutting-edge technology, and materials that are not endangered, protected, or threatened.
{The ultimate sustainable luxury.
Today, it seems as if everyone is using the word sustainable in their marketing verbiage— so much so that it is becoming almost meaningless.
Frankly, the idea of a sustainable superyacht is downright laughable. However, thankfully there are builders, designers, yacht owners, and others who truly do wish to offset their carbon footprint as much as possible. I am on a small mission for one yacht owner who is building a rather large superyacht to investigate “so-called sustainable practices” and to try and decipher what is real and what is greenwashing. It's kind of like the task of Sisyphus. (Look it up in your Greek mythology book!)
Last summer I had the good fortune to visit one company in particular that is actually taking the “green thing” to heart. Nature Squared, founded in 2000 by Switzerland-based Paul Hoeve and London-based Lay Koon Tan, creates luxury surfaces for superyachts and other highend clientele such as private members’ clubs, five-star hospitality projects, villas, penthouses, fashion designers, and more. In a nutshell, Nature Squared repurposes organic materials and byproducts, then designs and creates beautiful surfaces with them. Think wall coverings, tabletops, bar fronts, ficus tree planters, design displays such as the signature Christian Dior Mother of Pearl rose, the dashboard of a bespoke Rolls-Royce yes, really there is one that is made from pheasant feathers and such.
Hoeve and Tan had worked together in the mainstream corporate world many years
are inextricably linked.
ago and determined that they would “retire” into a business that just might make the world a better place. They started Nature Squared with the express purpose of creating meaningful, sustainable employment in developing countries. They investigated bases of operation in South America and Vietnam, before settling on the Philippines as the best place to set up shop.
“To us, sustainability means both environmental and social responsibility, as the two are inextricably linked,” says Lay Koon Tan, partner in Nature Squared.
Nature Squared combines traditional crafsmanship with cutting-edge technology to capture the beautiful essence of materials that are not endangered, protected, or threatened. They source materials predominantly
from industries such as farming and fshing, transforming what would normally be considered waste. Some materials come from the Philippines, but not all of them. Nature Squared combs the world looking for raw material.
Beyond upcycling discarded matter such as mussel shells, mango seeds, eggshells, bark, grasses, and feathers, Nature Squared has supported local communities while creating training and jobs in the Philippines and beyond. The company has evolved into a multinational team of 250 people including artisans, creatives, material scientists, engineers, and chemists. The creative and technical development is supported by Swiss-driven R&D, employing creatives in Barcelona, London, Hong Kong, and Cebu.
Visiting Cebu last summer, we spent time in the lush rainforest hills visiting organic coconut and mango plantations where some of the raw materials come from. How organic you might ask? Well, for instance, the owners of the hillside mango farm showed us how they cope with growing mangoes without spraying the fruit with chemicals. As each mango ripens, they are enclosed individually with newspaper stapled over each piece of fruit to fend of bugs.
In exploring Nature Square’s manufacturing and fabrication facilities on the island of Cebu, I was astonished to witness such painstaking fne detailing and handwork. I watched workers roast cracked eggshells, gleaned from a commercial bakery, in an open fre, then quickly

Nature Squared frowns on the point of view that developing countries are a source of cheap labor and low quality. They have invested in heritage skills as well as reestablished waning skills, such as hand loom weaving to enhance what they can offer clients. Their chief source of raw material is farmed or derived from waste materials that can be harvested in a way that will support local economies.
Is it still possible to make the world a better place? Yes, maybe just one mango seed or rice husk at a time.
Turquoise Yachts leads Turkey’s superyacht industry into the 21st century.
Given that the Bosphorus is the gateway to the Black Sea—which ultimately leads to the Aegean and the Mediterranean—Turkey is no stranger to seafaring craft.
At the intersection of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, Turkey has been a strategic area for global commerce and trade since ancient times. Today, 21st-century boats and yachts plying the Golden Horn have come a long way from the slender, decorative rowing boats, barges, and caiques used by sultans of the Ottoman Empire. Turkish shipyards are now building state-of-the-art superyachts for high-end international clientele. In fact, Turkey is second only to Italy as the largest yacht building nation in the world, even surpassing the Netherlands.
Turquoise Yachts, with its heritage dating back to the 1970s, was the first bona fide superyacht builder in Turkey. Early on, it established itself under the name Proteksan Turquoise, hitting its global competitive stride in the mid 1990s under the leadership of cofounder Mehmet Karabeyoğlu, producing such pedigreed vessels as the 50-meter motor yachts Double Trouble (formerly Turquoise ) and Mosaique, both with naval architecture
by Dubois Naval Architects and interior design by Donald Starkey. Over the years, the company evolved to its current-day success under the singular brand name Turquoise Yachts.
Intrinsic to Turquoise Yachts’ DNA is the centuries-long memory of Turkish artisanal craftsmanship. Istanbul, the former Constantinople, is one of the world’s most extraordinary cities and it is very welcoming to tourists. Witness to the astonishing architecture of the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and the Blue Mosque, Turkish craftsmanship is legendary. A stroll through the covered market of the Grand Bazaar provides a glimpse of historic Turkish handiwork rugs, mosaics, textiles, copperwork, embroidery, leather, and much more.
Dr. Mohammed Al Barwani / MB Group acquired majority ownership of Turquoise Yachts in 2014, and in 2023 became the 100 percent stakeholder of the company. (MB Group has also been the majority stakeholder in the superyacht builder Oceanco, based in the Netherlands since 2010). Turquoise Yachts is managed jointly by Executive Director Burak Akgül and CEO Patrik von Sydow.
“Turquoise Yachts offers outstanding yacht building, fexibility, fast turnaround, the highest possible standards as well as thorough afer-sales service. With Turquoise Yachts on track to becoming future proof, I am confdent the company’s ongoing growth and management changes are extremely positive,” says Chairman Dr. Mohammed Al Barwani.

The 500+ Turquoise team includes 80 engineers and architects and highly skilled craftspeople. The company operates out of two facilities on the Sea of Marmara. Kocaeli with capacity for yachts up to 120-meters is where the heavy steel and aluminum construction and installation of machinery and heavy piping takes place. The hulls and superstructures are then transferred via Turquoise’s own floating dock to its Istanbul facility in Pendik for final outfitting. Recent facility expansions have been supported by investment in technology, design, and engineering studios as well as
dedicated project management environments that facilitate companywide communication. There is a constant focus on new production methods and engineering tools.
“Much like the city where it is located, Turquoise is a bridge bringing together excellence and value in a unique proposition of engineering and craftsmanship to realize our clients' yachting visions,” says Burak Akgül.
Over the last half a dozen years or so Turquoise has made a splash in the media, at the annual Monaco Yacht Show, and in ports around the world with a number of innovative and
award-winning superyachts such as Infinite Jest , Jewels , ROE , Blue II , Go , and Rasha (formerly Razan).
Currently, Turquoise has several yachts under construction. The 79-meter Project Toro designed by Harrison Eidsgaard was delivered in January 2025 with its true name M/Y Nympheas The next delivery set for later this year is the H2-designed Project Vento. At 87-meters, she is the largest yacht under construction in Turkey and set to become the yard’s flagship. Also in build is 76-meter Project Arrow, with exterior design by Team for

In the wings are many fully engineered design concepts created for Turquoise Yachts by an international roster of designers, including a project developed jointly with Bannenberg & Rowell and Denison Yachting.
Finally, there are two spec sailing yacht projects: Wildcat and Rainbow II Wildcat, acquired as an incomplete hull from the Perini Navi 42E-volution series, has naval architecture by Reichel Pugh in collaboration with Southern Spars, and interior by GCA Architect. The 5-meter Rainbow II , a modern classic, began her life in the Netherlands as a hull for a schooner design. She was purchased by Turquoise, brought to Turkey, and has been redesigned by Dykstra Naval Architects as a sloop, with interior by deVosdeVries Design.
TURQUOISE —THE STONE — IS REVERED in many cultures as embodying wisdom and nobility, with the power of immortality.
TURQUOISE IS MORE THAN A COLOR
The word turquoise is one that evokes the magnifcent green/blue color of Bahamian waters, and, of course, it signifes the beautiful gemstone. Ancient Egyptians adorned themselves with turquoise jewelery; there are Chinese turquoise carvings that are more than 3000 years old; turquoise is the national gem of Tibet, and Native Americans have long revered the stone, memorializing it in their handicraf and amulets. The word turquoise is derived from the French expression pierre turques, or Turkish stone. The trade routes that brought turquoise from the mines in central Asia to Europe went through Turkestan or via the Turkish Ottoman empires.
Now what does this have to do with Turquoise Yachts?
While perhaps subliminal, there is a correlation. Turquoise the stone is revered in many cultures as embodying wisdom and nobility, with the power of immortality. An Arabic proverb, says, “A turquoise given by a loving hand carries with it happiness and good fortune.” Persians regarded turquoise as a gem uniting heaven and earth. Turquoise Yachts in many ways lives up to its namesake. Turquoise Yachts are modern-day gems creating sparkling refections in The Seven Seas.
Veteran marine photographer KOS Evans creates modern art on legendary sails.
photographer
Evans was the highlight of the night.
When it comes to the special alchemy that can happen at the intersection of superyachts and the America’s Cup, the Barcelona Superyacht Regatta Gala, held during the America’s Cup last fall, had all the exclusive elegance you’d expect to find at the pinnacle of the yacht racing world.
But this isn’t a story about the party. In fact, I think the charity auction that took place during the gala and featured the extraordinary modern art series created by the award-winning marine photographer KOS Evans was the highlight of the night for several reasons.
First of, her talent as a marine photographer has been obvious since she first blasted onto the scene during the historic 1983 America’s Cup. And as a yachting journalist who’s always depended on talented photographers to help illustrate my stories, I can say with authority that KOS has always been one of the best in the world.
Second, my admiration and respect for her has only grown since I’ve gotten to know her. In fact, I think she’s one of those rare artists who combines talent, fun, passion, hard work, creativity, and community mindedness in ways that can inform, inspire, and delight.
And afer learning about her motivation to use pieces of sail from some of the most famous and historic racing yachts in the world to create the stunningly modern art that was up for auction in Barcelona, I love her even more!
PICTURED: The gra ti of America's Cup host city Barcelona is featured on this high-performance carbon ber sail.
“The concept sort of came about by accident when I was offered some old America’s Cup sails,” she says with a smile, over coffee in Barcelona. “I thought how cool would it be to turn them into works of art.”
As you can see, the photographic sculptures she speci"cally created to be auctioned off during the recent America’s Cup are very, very cool.
And she continues to have rare America’s Cup sails from the 12-meter Stars & Stripes , J class-era Shamrock V , Velsheda , Ranger , and Endeavour donated to the project. Of course, she has some sails from the most recent America’s Cup, while she also has pieces from the record-breaking clipper ship Cutty Sark, King George V's yacht Britannia, and others.
“I’m excited that I have these amazing America's Cup sails,” she says. “Turning them into art has been a much more interesting and challenging project than I could have ever imagined. What I found is you can't just use a straightforward photograph. What I really love about this project is that it’s inspired me to visualize a whole

different way of portraying my images.
“For instance, I use some of the graffiti and street art from Barcelona in the team New Zealand piece. It also has an image of Sir Peter Blake I shot in 1992 during their America’s Cup campaign that had a most incredible red sail. For me, the image of the silver
sea with a red sail and the graffiti of Barcelona celebrates the Kiwis’ successful defense of the cup in Barcelona.
“It’s been a challenge to work out how to print on the material because these sails have literally been through the wars. And some are covered in salt. And some are delaminated. Some of them absorb water,
some of them don't. But it’s all been worth it.”
And that’s what makes this series so interesting to me. Each piece is not only a one-ofa-kind piece of art. Each also contains a living, breathing piece of yachting history that no one else has.
And it doesn’t get any more exclusive than that.

It’s “Better in the Bahamas” aboard the 105-foot-long Monte Carlo M .
When
it comes to tropical charter destinations that are only a short hop from Florida, none can compete with the turquoise blue water, creamy white sand beaches, and smiling locals of the Bahamas.
And when it comes to the ultimate Bahamas charter yacht, few can connect guests with the turquoise blue water, creamy white sand beaches, and smiling locals quite like the 105-foot-long Monte Carlo that’s simply called M . Better still, according to New Zealand native Captain Sannoch Clark (who everyone knows as Captain Kiwi), none have a crew that’s dedicated to helping guests experience the sun, fun, relaxation, and natural beauty of the Bahamas quite like M either.
M is a perfect yacht for the Bahamas because we have a great big sun deck that is split into three areas,” Captain Kiwi says. “The dining area is amazing. The cigar lounge in the middle has four club chairs and a little table. And then behind that, we have a comfortable couch that has an unobstructed view out to the ocean.
“Our chief stew is a ball of fre, and she's happy and likes making drinks and just making sure the guests are entertained,” he says. “The second stew is the quieter one. She just goes behind everybody and makes sure the place looks immaculate all the time. And our crazy little chef just loves turning out great food.
Sounds like the perfect combination, right?
“M is just one of those boats where you want to be outdoors most of the time because it’s so comfortable. And guests really love the great big swim platform we have. At anchor, we deploy lots of foating toys so they can sit with their feet in the water, and sit and have a cocktail and watch the kids play with the water sports equipment.”
And, oh yeah, there’s a hot tub and plenty of comfortable couches on the foredeck too.
Another cool feature is that both the sun deck and foredeck have sun protection the sun deck has a retractable roof, while a cool series of fabric sunshades can be deployed on the bow.
But as you can see in these photos, guests will love being inside too. The bright and airy main saloon featuring big windows, a bar, u-shaped couch, and widescreen TV is a perfect spot to Netfix-n-chill or gather for cocktails.
Whether you are looking to enjoy moments of serene solitude or lively gatherings with friends and family, M has a spot for every occasion. Guests
can enjoy four lavishly appointed staterooms below and a full-beam master stateroom situated on the main deck.
And since Captain Kiwi and crew believe every charter in the Bahamas should be the ideal combination of adventure and relaxation, the armada of toys and tenders guests can enjoy is world-class. Die-hard fishermen will no doubt love to take advantage of the 35-foot-long Pursuit center console that’s equipped with four rods and a selection of lures for the ultimate fishing experience. Advanced water-skiers can carve turns behind the ABJet 390 tender. And the crew is happy to help less experienced water-skiers learn the ropes too.
The yacht also has a Seadoo jetski available if you’re looking to do some speed runs on the

surface. And two Seabobs are available if underwater speed is your jam. Guests can practice their golf swing on the af deck driving range. And don’t worry. The golf balls are made of fsh food, so the environment is safe.
Captain Kiwi reports that guests also love to relax in the shade of the infatable Aqua Party Bana that floats off the stern. And they all rave about the beach set-up that features inflatable chairs, toys, and a BBQ.
But the biggest hit are the flight boards. “The flight boards are the new thing. We have two. We have a more professional version and then we have a more relaxed version where people can learn how to foil. Everybody loves them.”
The old saying goes: “It’s Better in the Bahamas.” But the truth is, exploring the Bahamas is way better aboard the 105-foot-long Monte Carlo M with Captain Kiwi and crew.
A busy couple build a waterfront paradise on Chesapeake Bay.
I grew up in an urban Richmond, Virginia, townhouse with a postage-stamp backyard, surrounded by miles of well-planned cityscape dotted with barely " shable lakes.
So, in the early 1960s when my father bought a 30-foot cabin cruiser docked on a tributary to the Chesapeake Bay, a whole new world appeared before my 10-year-old fsherman’s eyes.
Down on Sarah’s Creek off the York River, we were tied up among skipjacks, oyster boats, and more extravagant cruisers. In the waning evening hours, swarms of menhaden would slash the creek by the thousands. (“Somethin’s chasin’ ‘em,” my father’d say.) Or eels would snatch a sliver of bacon on a hook.
Watery, bacon-scented, and salt-soaked, these were the kinds of experiences that awakened me to life on the Chesapeake Bay.
But it was nowhere near the kind of life that John and Tina Galdieri and their daughter have found on a three-acre paradise at the end of a lane in Saint Michael’s, on the bay’s Maryland side, ever since John hopped a fence to inspect the then-unsold property during the pandemic and encouraged his family to follow. Afer that, their world changed totally. But then again, this is a family that thrives on challenges. John pilot’s corporate jets for his own globe-trotting charter flight firm. Tina is the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens cheerleading team.
First, they bought the lot in spite of the fact that it was
priced 25 percent higher than others nearby. Next, they found a design-build frm to help with initial planning, then set about the permitting process. That’s when they came across the work of architect Jonathan Rivera and shifed design gears completely.
“They wanted a dream property,” Rivera says.
So, he made that happen for them. Now they live full-time in a 6,800-square-foot home facing Drum Point. They called for a circular entry, a four-car garage, and a guest suite over it for their daughter. They wanted inside and outside space for entertainment, his and her offices, plus fireplaces and a good-sized swimming pool.
{They wanted a dream property.
They got it all. “The design intent was to maximize the 270-degree views of the water and the buildable space that was limited,” says Paul Mueller, whose building frm bears his name.
That’s because the architect allowed the site to inform his clients’ desires, Mueller says. “From the primary suite’s view of the water and entertainment space, to the vistas from kitchen or outdoor areas, it all opens up, easily accessed by friends or family.”
Rivera and Mueller worked with Absolute Landscape and Turf Services to achieve those goals and create a landscape that didn’t compete with its outrageously gorgeous bay views. The result: a sculpted environment that fows seamlessly from interior and grounds to waterfront beyond.
They meticulously designed paths and terraces around the 40-foot by 20-foot pool, following the natural contours of the land so each step on the property feels like a part of a carefully crafted journey. Natural stone walls, flagstone patios, and strategic lighting create a sense of flow and continuity, drawing the eye toward those expansive water vistas.
The crown jewel on this site, though, is a pier that’s 220 feet long 150 feet over the water, with more that crosses its wetlands. “Afer all,” John notes, “we have a 46-foot Sea Ray.”
That means cruises out and away from their home at Drum Point, into the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
There, they’ll likely be beyond the reaches of any wily prehistoric crustacean behemoths.
{The crown jewel on this site, though, is a pier that’s 220 feet long—150 feet over the water, with more that crosses its wetlands.

When it comes to superyacht designers, Denison Yachting’s superyacht specialist Alex G. Clarke will tell you few have the pedigree of Bannenberg & Rowell.
And thanks to Clarke’s extensive experience working with Turkish shipyards, he also knows that ARES Yachts is an award-winning, family-run shipyard that has an equally impressive reputation as Turkey’s largest exporter of commercial and military ships. But now that they’ve partnered with Bannenberg & Rowell, Lateral Naval Architects, and Clarke here at Denison Yachting to build Project Spitfire, they’re entering the yachting segment in style.
Actually, the inspiration for Project Spitfire was taken from one of the most famous and evocative aircraf in British aviation history the Supermarine Spitfre.
Simon Rowell, Creative Director at Bannenberg & Rowell Design explains their inspiration for both the
exterior and interior design.
“The famous Spitfire was a simultaneously beautiful and deadly design. A fast, nimble response to the challenges of the new airborne battlefield of World War II.
“Aesthetically, the Spitfire was immediately identifiable by its elliptical wing profile. Innovative sunken rivets created an unusually sleek aerodynamic surface. So the story of the ARES Spitfire is rooted in this ethos: it is nimble, efcient, dynamic, industrial, and engineered. This can be found in our use of smooth

In fact, construction is already underway.
With Bannenberg & Rowell Design responsible for creating an elegantly unified interior and exterior design, Spitfire sports a seriously sleek, low-
profile superstructure with bands of dark glass and military gray. Her wide, rounded bow drops vertically from cutaway bulwarks, and she has a low, open explorer-style stern beftting her adventurous potential.
“Spitfire is a project that I have been watching advance for the past few years now,” Clarke
says. “Through this process I’ve really gotten to know Dickie Bannenberg and Simon Rowell. These guys are legitimate legends whose designs and projects will stand the test of time. But just as importantly, they are great people. I love their approach to business and that goes for not just their design philosophy, but also with their team and how they go about forming relationships.”

{No place combines opulence, romance, royalty, mystery, and lots and lots of money quite like Monaco.
It’s the stuff of Hollywood legend, the all-American dream with a sprinkling of Disney-princess magic.
The boy-meets-girl story of a young Monégasque prince and an Irish-American actress who rose to prominence as a Hitchcock heroine has had the world enthralled for decades. Far from ending her career, the union opened the door to new opportunities for Princess Grace, largely in the sphere of charity work focused on young children and the arts. It also shone a spotlight on Monaco, the world’s second-smallest

city-state (after Vatican City), which became a billboard for glamour, prestige, and yachting.
Early in the 1950s, Prince Rainier, himself a keen sailor, predicted that post-war prosperity would lead to a yachting boom. He decided to establish a yacht club that would make Monaco, already a center of sailing regattas, a fashionable destination for international motor yachts.
“It was indeed my desire that we could welcome and bring together the yachtsmen who come here, with an organization worthy of the tourist facilities offered by the Principality. The future of Monaco lies with the sea,” declared Prince Rainier III during the inauguration of the Yacht Club de Monaco, which he founded in 1953. Today, 37 of its members own yachts that are among the 100 largest in the world.
Set on the eastern edge of Port Hercules, with views across the harbor to the palace on the rock, the club is a bastion of tradition and innovation bringing together more than 2,500 members. The club’s reputation has grown in the 40 years that HSH Prince Albert II, a leading proponent of environmental protection, has presided over it. He has made the club the epicenter of Monaco’s drive toward sustainability, with its annual electric boat race, its founding role in the Superyacht Eco Association (SEA) Index, and its ocean conservation initiatives.

{From Renaissance art to rolling vineyards, an inland adventure is now an essential part of a Tuscan superyacht charter.
As
Tony Bennett sang so emotively, “It’s
the good life to be
free
and explore the unknown.”
And it’s the dolce vita yachting dream that is so perfectly encapsulated in Tuscany. The Tuscan Coast stretches 500 kilometers from the Versilia Riviera to Monte Argentario. Elba the largest island of the Tuscan archipelago known for its wildlife, beauty, and adventurous cycling tracks was made famous when it became Napoleon’s place of exile. But the jewel in the coastline crown is Forte dei Marmi, just over an hour’s drive from the tumbledown houses of Cinque Terre.
Forte dei Marmi’s origins lie in the 16 th century, when the ruling Medici family used it to transport marble from mountain to sea,
including the white gold stone of Carrara so favored by Michelangelo. Today, the Via Giuseppe Spinetti is a Hamptons-like shrine to international designer boutiques and open-air coffee shops, where sun-kissed children clad in Loro Piana knitwear skip across cleanly swept pedestrianized squares.
Giorgio Armani and Andrea Bocelli own villas in the seaside town. In the 1920s, it was Italian “royalty,” including the Pirellis (of the multinational tire manufacturer) and the Agnellis (of Fiat fame) who descended on Forte dei Marmi during the summer months. Now, Villa Agnelli forms part of Hotel Augustus Lido, one of 15
{Villa Ardore’s gentle restoration was realized by leading Florence architect Massimo Pieratelli.
properties that collectively comprise the Augustus Hotel & Resort, the epicenter of Apple's 2024 series Disclaimer starring Cate Blanchett.
Further inland, cultural hubs like Florence (home to Michelangelo’s David), Siena (which hosts the biannual Palio di Siena horse race), and Pisa’s leaning tower reside. They’re surrounded by a rising number of remote Tuscan villas ofering fve-star rural stays to guests wanting to sample Tuscany’s rolling countryside while on a yacht charter, including Nautor’s Swan owner Leonardo Ferragamo's chic family retreats, Il Boro and Viesca near Florence, and Villa Ardore, a 16th-century Tuscan stone farmhouse tucked into the Chianti hills.
Owned by Americans Christian Scali and Stephen Lewis, Villa Ardore’s gentle restoration was realized by leading Florence architect Massimo Pieratelli, who used local stone and materials to achieve an authentic yet luxurious touch. It’s in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, where Ferretti boss Alberto Galassi’s
favorite Antinori winery resides. The dirt road approach to Villa Ardore winds through shaded woods before opening out to cinematic views of the rolling Rufno vineyard. Church bells peal out across the terracotta roofops of the historic town of San Gimignano in the distance.
San Gimignano is one of the best preserved medieval towns in the country, largely owing to two thirds of its population being wiped out by the plague in the 13 th century. The remaining inhabitants abandoned it for Florence, and it was lef empty until its 19th-century restoration. Lying in the west of one of the world's prime red wine areas, San Gimignano produces only whites. It’s a quaint stop of on any itinerary and a convenient 30-minute hop by helicopter from the yachting hub of Viareggio, itself a gateway for yachts carrying on to Capri or heading north to Santa Margarita.
