Come celebrate in Boerne's historic downtown and beyond throughout the holiday season! It all kicks off Thanksgiving weekend with Dickens on Main, where the Hill Country Mile transforms into a vintage holiday wonderland, complete with live entertainment, carolers and snow along Main Street. The first Saturday in December brings the Weihnachts Parade, where more than 100 lighted floats delight guests along the
Hill Country Mile. Interested in more lights? Step off The Mile and head out to Crumbling Castle, The Jones CHRISTmas Ranch, and Old West Christmas Light Fest for dazzling displays. The festivities continue with Toast to Olde Town and Kinder Fest in December; visit holidaysinboerne.com for more details as the holiday season approaches.
Experience Boerne’s Old-World charm and modern-day amenities that make it a “Top Destination.”
Boerne has retained much of its German heritage and OldWorld charm, despite its proximity to nearby San Antonio. Its commitment to revitalizing iconic, architectural gems along Main Street and the Hill Country Mile is evident in the new lives that these beloved buildings now have as exciting businesses. Grab a free Historic Walking Tour map at the Visitors Center or download it on your phone and start exploring! There are local museums, including the Old Jail Museum, the Kuhlmann-King Historical
Complex, The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center, and the Historic Herff Homestead located on the grounds of the Herff Farm at the Cibolo Center for Conservation. There are also two show caves in the area worth exploring — Cave Without a Name, and Cascade Caverns.
Boerne is named “Boerne” in honor of Karl Ludwig Borne, a well known political writer who many Germanic settlers respected.
1850-60s
Business booms; gristmill, sawmill, blacksmith shop, livery stable, butcher shop, saloon and more open. The Old Reed House (now The Kendall) opens.
1880s
The Dienger Building is built and opened. The railroad begins daily treks from San Antonio. Three churches and five hotels are built in the Boerne area.
Boerne is incorporated. The first Kendall County Fair is held.
Cascade Caverns and the Cave Without A Name open for public tours. 1930s
2021 : The AgriCultural Museum & Arts Center : @MyCurlyAdventures_
IH-10 is completed, and Boerne begins rapid growth in population and tourism. The Cibolo Nature Center opens on Earth Day with a televised ceremony and memorial tree planting.
The Patrick Heath Public Library is constructed and opens in its current location. The Boerne Visitors Center opens its doors on the Hill Country Mile at 282 N. Main St!
The Historic Kendall County Jail is renovated and opened as The Old Jail Museum. Open for tours on Saturdays.

Gracefully poised in the heart of Boerne’s Main Street shopping district—known as the Hill Country Mile—there is an elegant, iconic building that houses Bechants—a world-class department store that is artfully arranged to provide a shopping destination that is like no other in the Texas Hill Country. The store is divided into multiple smaller boutiques that offer an array of products and services including women’s clothing, women’s shoes and accessories, tableware, gifts, seasonal décor, jewelry,
fragrances, home and office, baby and children’s, healthy living, wellness, and products from around the world. Their dedicated service and personal attention to detail are legendary, and they have brought this same custom touch to their newest addition, Bechants Men’s, an exceptional clothing store for the well-dressed man located across the street.

Mix Your Hill Country Mile Shopping with a Little Crafting
If you're someone who loves to craft, The Downtown DIY is your adult creativity playground. They have premade projects and classes or you can bring your own inspiration and they will bring it to life. Or try your hand at the charm bar or truckerhat bar at Pixie with all sorts of fun patches and charms.
At The AgriCultural, we learned how agriculture shaped the community and really enjoyed the blacksmith demonstration.
We love staying at The Kendall Hotel. Their spacious, renovated chapel is our favorite space, with a claw-foot tub and a dual shower. It’s the perfect weekend getaway.
We love exploring the gorgeous landscapes of the Cibolo Nature Center. A hike among the cypress trees along the Cibolo Creek is truly breathtaking.
For a day on the water, we enjoy Boerne Lake. We hang out along the banks, bring a picnic lunch, and rent kayaks and SUPs from Hill Country Paddle Sports. We’ve even taken a sailing class with Trisum Sailing.
Cave Without A Name is an incredible underground wonder, we felt like we were in another world. We highly recommend their underground concerts. They are truly magical!
