One year ago today, I was mocking up a magazine cover and thinking of a name for it. I wanted something simple and easy to remember, yet representing this beautiful state with all of its charm, history and local folks. I wanted it to look and feel like this place we call home. Being an entrepreneur at heart, I saw a need for a local magazine that focused on local people, lifestyle, businesses, restaurants and destinations -- a magazine that blends both the needs of our tourists and those of us living here. My first thought was to print it ourselves and distribute it to only the businesses in our neighborhood of ChampionsGate, but that's not where our path led us. Now, here I sit -- a grateful friend to many who supported us and cheered us on from day one. I am thankful for the very first business owners I approached, John and Heidi Marling, the developers of The Gate Apartments in ChampionsGate. They encouraged me to pursue this dream and were the very first contract we signed. This past year has been an amazing adventure. We've gone from FOUR representing and covering only spots along I-4, to two magazine brands -- FOUR and FOUR Weddings -- which covers all four regions of Florida. The good grace and support of our local Florida business owners and readers have made both magazines a hit. You write us sweet emails showing your appreciation and then turnaround to share the magazines with your own customers, friends, and family. This makes our hearts melt! Friends, we have only finished the first chapter of this glorious journey. We have lots more hugs and local love to share with you. This newly opened hot spot is one of those oncein-a-lifetime dining experiences with some of the most innovative dishes we've ever seen. All of this creativity in the presentation is equally matched by the delicious taste of everything we had on the menu. Rarely do you find a restaurant that has all the first class elements you're looking for -- quality of food, service, ambiance and presentation. But from the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with tables that are elegantly set, graced with white tablecloths and wine glasses in place, dĂŠcor of green palms along with a reflection pool which lends a cool elegance. We met up with owner, Ann Hartley, who told us the beautiful history and passion behind her restaurant. She told us the story of when Seagrove Beach was nothing more than a few houses hidden behind sand dunes. A man named Cube McGee saw something more. Cube developed and shaped Seagrove into the vibrant, soulful place it is today. He was also a local celebrity, with his pet deer named Bambi. Both of them could be seen each morning on the beach (photo right).

Aside from the classic cocktail, a highball is a train conductor’s signal to depart at full speed. It was how Central Florida’s abundant harvests moved from field to table, an iconic symbol of the region’s agricultural might. Highball & Harvest (H&H) pays homage to this legacy, with menus laden with ingredients from local farms, as well as their own green-growing efforts on property. Despite the glorious bar menu, this place isn’t just about cocktails. This upscale spot in The Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes serves up impeccable fresh, local and seasonal fare. We love the idea that many of their ingredients are grown right on property -- pretty unique! Cocktails were our first foray. Our favorite cocktail is the "Doc Holliday". Following the cocktail, we devoured their pumpkin soup, which is divine. Of course, no southern meal would be complete without fried chicken with pimento mac and cheese,

Located in Historic Cocoa Village, this place has charm and good food Eating at Murdock's is the epitome of comfort, from the food to the prices, as well as the local salvaged décor. As we’re both prone to Southern food gluttony, we were rather excited by a menu filled with hearty treats like fried chicken and fried green tomato sandwiches along with various mac n' cheese dishes. It took us quite awhile to decide, but we eventually formed a plan of action, opting to share everything as usual. May we suggest you indulge in the Southerner Burger, pictured below, which is done right with pimento cheese, fried green tomato and bacon. Or if you're looking for just appetizers, their fried pickles are the best we've tasted ‘round these parts. The drinks

are also out of this world, especially "The Vinny", as you can see us enjoying one in the photo below. It’s a cozy spot with good comfort food. You can’t beat that.
HOLLER & DASH
Located in Celebration, this southern brunch restaurant is a little gem The standouts from our visit to Holler & Dash would have to be the Andouille Hustle, Chicken Holler and Tot Bowl (all pictured above). The biscuits here are flaky, buttery, and most importantly, pillowy soft. Even their gravy was spot on. We love the beautiful displays of Southern splendor here, such as the tin ceilings and handpainted benches, which bring a sweet farmhouse element to the restaurant. We found everything on the menu to be delectable -- the Southern-style cuisine was unbelievably rich and comforting, and the biscuits are made fresh daily, which we love! Surprisingly, there’s something for everyone and it's affordably priced. We'll be back!
