Positioned in the heart of Downtown Orlando’s Thornton Park District, Baoery offers a contemporary take on traditional Asian cuisine but re-imagined as a modern fusion. Here it is common to see an array of unexpected ingredients like their Bao Wow, American-inspired hot dogs with House Sriracha-Kraut in a bao bun, to their Sizzling Lemongrass Chicken and Miso Ramen all on the same menu.

From the great food to the atmosphere, this place glows with its own kind of charm. A Godzilla at the bar, an array of TVs playing old kung-fu movies, a giant Buddha mural, and a Chinese gong prep guests for the meal ahead and set the tone for an incredible night out. Daring, original and progressive, Baoery is fusing traditional Asian dishes with diverse American and indigenous flavors and ingredients with finesse. It is fusion not for fusion’s sake like those that are forced, simply to be novel. Rather, it is a fusion cuisine that has evolved; a fusion that makes sense with fun tongue-incheek dish names.

GRAND OPENING OF RED ROBIN IN CHAMPIONSGATE

We were fortunate enough to enjoy the new Red Robin location in ChampionsGate during their Sneak Preview Week. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of food and drinks, especially since this was our very first visit. The decor was well done also. We were greeted by Ron Pyrz, Regional Operations Director, and was given the company’s history as well as the mission and plans for future growth in Central Florida. “Better for being here sums up our company’s philosophy and we pride ourselves in helping both our restaurant team and guests feel that way,” said Ron. Since 1969 when the very first Red Robin opened in Seattle, they have been serving up gourmet burgers and signature dishes alike. To top it off, all of their Gourmet Burgers and Chicken Sandwiches are served with Bottomless Steak Fries®, which means free refills. And who doesn’t love thick steak fries with Red Robin’s signature seasoning? Unless of course you prefer their garlic parmesan fries, which we recommend you try! Aside from the plentiful burger, sauce and appetizer choices, they also have a variety of brews and cocktails.

Red Robin’s Menu Highlights: •

Suggested beer pairings with burgers

Boozy Shakes, as the name implies, are milkshakes made with alcohol

Appetizers ranging from $3 to $9

They even take it one step further on their menu and suggest which beer you should order with a burger. Nice touch Red Robin! Finally we must touch on the decor and ambiance of this new ChampionsGate dining destination. They’ve done an excellent job of targeting both audiences of families with kids and adults only, so much so that they have separate dining areas for both, which is great for everyone.

Delivering their Unparalleled Vision for the Vacation Home Business

Long before Matthew and Birgit Daniel were married, they moved to the United States and attended college here. When they were planning their wedding, they had to find ways to accommodate over 100 guests from all over the world. After asking around, they found out that vacation home rentals were right in their neighborhood, which had a huge impact on making their wedding a lasting memory for everyone and a chance to spend more quality time together. Thus, the idea for Tropical Escape Vacation Homes was born. Having worked in the hospitality industry for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Birgit and Matthew know a thing or two about providing superior guest experiences. The couple say they were inspired to build a company that had everything under one roof -- and they did.

They offer over 70 home rentals

with first class property management, professional interior design and furnishings, as well as new home sales. This turnkey approach has made this couple’s business a success in 10 years. After spending some time with them, you get the feeling they aren’t afraid to think big. Bursting with enthusiasm, they proceeded to talk about their newest business venture, Blue Ginger, an upscale Indian Bar & Grill coming to the new Downtown ChampionsGate this fall. Scheduled to open this fall, their new fine dining destination sounds amazing. They have assembled a famous restaurant interior design team known for their work at Season 52, Paradiso 37 at Disney Springs

PUBLISH ER ’ S P I CK SOME OF FLORIDA’S HIDDEN GEMS ARE INNS

Planning a road trip this weekend? We have been scouting the state for the best boutique inns for your road trip destination. Here we are featuring two of our nominees with more to come next issue. Enjoy! Our two hotel choices are a bit different, not a faceless chain or bland corridors which lead you to a room which could easily be anywhere. We selected these because they are unique, boutique and independent. What makes these boutique hotels so special? A high standard of service, luxury and beauty with some unforgettable special touches, ideal beach locations and all within a weekend getaway reach of Orlando. The hotel in South Florida that made the cut is Washington Park Hotel in Miami’s famed South Beach. This centrally located 4-star property is in the heart of all the action at South Beach. The hotel is easy walking distance to restaurants, nightclubs, bars, and shopping. It’s also a good example of art deco architecture that South Beach is known for. WPH offers complimentary breakfast and transportation -- Tuk Tuk shuttle and Martone bikes to further the appeal of this boutique inn. If you’re looking for food and shopping, don’t miss our South Beach article on page 10. To learn more or make reservations at Washington Park Hotel: 1050 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139 Phone: (305) 4216265. Now our second hidden gem is just an hour’s drive from Orlando. Located in New Smyrna Beach, this town offers a lovely drive-on Atlantic coast beach and you’re only steps away from the Indian River when you stay at The Black Dolphin Inn. This historic inn has a connection to the outdoors with ocean breezes and seemingly endless water views. The inn is a Spanish Isle-inspired historic estate which features 14 guest rooms and suites. The inn even has its own private dock to fish or watch dolphins from.

We selected this B&B because of what makes it truly “boutique”: a prime address that still feels removed from the tourist grid, with an air of sophistication, a unique personality, and first-class customer service.

With Orlando being the home to a large tourist industry, the City Beautiful takes up residence in millions of hearts each year. It is the most visited city in the USA and one of the most visited cities in the world. Orlando has a big heart that offers comfort, entertainment and leisure to each guest, and in return her heart pulsates through a global community who associate Orlando as a home away from home. The fun loving character of the city is not just gained from the entertainment industry; Orlandoans love their city and know that it is a shared gem. One of the best sources of information comes from the passion of an eager local that can’t wait to experience the next thing along with you. Central Floridians frequent their major tourist attractions, and they keep up with the latest buzz. Orlando residents are tourists too and a majority of them moved to the city and the state of Florida from elsewhere. Orlando welcomes its diverse population with an open heart: tourists, snowbirds, natives and migrants. Orlando belongs to us all!

by Jessica Lang

One of the ways Orlando offers a warm and homely stay to visitors is through its growing market of vacation rentals. Instead of the typical and impersonal hotel stay, vacationers prefer to lay their hat – and kick off their flip-flops, in a villa, condo or luxury home that resonate with their personal style. Hotel room #3045 never makes it into the family vacation album, but 123 Homely Road does. There are pictures of Jake and Lisa splashing in the private pool, Grandma Rose cooking her famous stew in the kitchen, the family sitting down for dinner or the teens taking selfies in the game room. Future conversations will forever include, “Remember our house on Homely Road?” It is with warmth and sincerity that we – the Orlando residents, make every effort to ensure that our City Beautiful provides a most enchanting experience to forever live on in every visitors heart.

A c t Fast: MOVE-IN READY FLORIDA GOLF HOMES ARE AVAILABLE FOR END OF SUMMER BUYS by Connie Helena

The Central Florida based real estate developer, ABD Development Company, is offering its inventory of move-in ready golf course homes in Providence Golf and Country Club Community in Davenport, Florida. Conveniently located in Polk County just southwest of downtown Orlando, Providence has been recognized with real estate awards and honors since breaking ground in 2006. Here is the current list of what ABD has in Heritage Green at Providence: - Three bedroom/three bath, 2543 square foot Sorrento model with side entry two-car garage on third fairway of the golf course. Extras include oversized kitchen with very large island, cooktop with hood, oven/convection microwave combo, tile floors in living areas, wood floors in bedrooms, extra-large paver patio, and giant wood doubledoors. Priced at $419,000. ¡ Four bedroom/three bath, 2614 square foot Wyndham V model with three-car side entry garage on third fairway of the golf course. This beautiful home will be finished in less than 60 days but the buyer can still choose paint colors, flooring, cabinets, and countertops. Priced at $469,000.

- Four bedroom/three and one half bath, 2749 square foot Courtyard II model with two-car garage and a pool on a lot with a conservation view. This superior home (our most popular plan because of its detached one bedroom/one bath pool house) will be completed in 90 days so there is still time to choose paint colors, flooring, cabinets, and countertops. Priced at $489,000. - Five bedroom/four bath, 2984 square foot Wyndham V model with three-car side entry garage on fourth green of the golf course. This award winning model has an upstairs bonus room/bedroom with bath and balcony overlooking the green. This one is just starting construction and will be ready by the end of the year. ORLANDO’S FALL Fashion by Maria Wyatt-Uhl

Florida’s Hottest Fall Fashion Trends Fall fashion in Florida is a wide range of styles that mix the key pieces of your spring/summer wardrobe, while incorporating statement trends for fall. For fashion lovers, it can be difficult to dress comfortably while keeping abreast of the warm temperatures of Florida autumn. Wool coats, faux-fur bombers and overthe-knee boots may be a little too warm for southern temperatures. Styling is the key to creating the perfect look while being realistic about the warm weather. Adding texture to your attire can create depth and alter your look from summer to fall such as leather, fringe, suede, satin, lace, etc. Accessories are a fantastic way to add textures to your look. Handbags, hats, jewelry, scarfs, capes and booties can be very effective and elevate an outfit. Another tactic to semi-fall styling is to showcase colors that blend with autumn trends and create a warmer tone. Marsala, mint foam, sand, airy blue, hunter green, camel and roses are colors that you can blend for a fashion forward cacophony. It is important to integrate trends but not look too busy. Many women tend to over-accessorize during fall, trying to wear every new item in one outfit. Keep it simple and have one statement be the eye-catcher. Layering is a fantastic tool during Florida fall as the evenings are cooler and can add additional options. Draping a leather motorcycle jacket over your shoulders or a fun collared shirt under a t-shirt will create statements that are easy and simple. The goal is to look chic while effortless.

Pick from poolside dining if you want a relaxed affair, to a beautiful setting oceanside at Atlantic Grille. Food, fun, and sun, amid luxurious resort amenities with mesmerizing ocean

and golf views.

What could be better? Our stay at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast with two full days of savory cuisine and entertaining activities, plus a couple’s massage and pedicure made us realize one thing - why haven’t we been here before? What we do know, Phone: 866-841-0287 www.hammockbeach.com

however, is that it won’t take us nearly as long to return.

Atlantic Grille Restaurant An over-the-top view of the Atlantic Ocean, this fine dining restaurant is grilling, sautéing, and even flavoring up dishes with housemade sea salt. With its just creamy enough texture, generous potato chunks, meaty pieces of clam and bacon, Atlantic Grille gets our vote for Four Magazine’s 2016 Best Clam Chowder. If you eat too much chowder then you won’t have room for the final crowning glories of the kitchen -- dessert. It’s just another one of the charms of Atlantic Grille’s menu: enticing diners to keep eating long after they’re full. 

My feminine foodie review may be a bit bias this time since Italian is one of my favorite cuisines. For starters, the

bruschetta is fresh and delicious. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t make an entire meal out of it because it was that good. Next was Chef Russell’s panzanella salad, which was the perfect blend of fresh veggies, herbs and vinaigrette. This would be perfect paired with the bruschetta for those wanting a light meal. Deciding whether to have a flatbread or pasta can be difficult at Forte, but if you

With a menu that stays close to its classic Italian roots, it’s easy to overindulge in appetizers and entrees, but don’t! Save room for dessert, especially their pink raspberry sorbet served with biscotti simply amazing. UNIQUE HOMES IN OUR AREA by Melisa S. Kennedy

f you like enchanting and unique homes, you’re going to love these homes we found, and they are all for sale. Whether your vision of luxury living is in a historical mansion, beachfront resort style, land in the countryside or a jewel-like condo in downtown Orlando, you won’t have to travel far to enjoy these beauties - but you may be transported back in time for some. Our first home is nestled in the Lake Wales area, about 30 miles south of I-4 Exit 55. This historical castle called Casa De Josefina, was built in 1920 and is a registered Florida landmark. Irwin Yarnell built the Casa for about $1.5 million at Highland Park, as a surprise for his wife, Josephine, according to the stories. Her name is even inscribed in the decorative iron grillwork of a stained-glass window above the front door. Her profile is sculpted in a parapet wall. This amazing home consists of nine bedrooms, five full and three half bathrooms, plus two kitchens. You enter the home through an elegant entryway and greeted by the original, Italian imported, fireplace (pictured below). The unique E-shaped layout boasts two courtyards, one with a garden, and one with a refreshing swimming pool for those hot Florida days.

If a castle isn’t enough for you, would a really cool staircase from a ship, two courtyards with gorgeous flowers, and large acreage seal the deal? You’ll find all that and more on over 7 acres of pure Florida country charm located next to a lake. The house has been upgraded and well taken care of, so it offers an old house aesthetic coupled with plenty of modern conveniences. To the true historical house lover, we say: “Welcome home! (And can we come over?)”

Regardless of the size or location of the home, certain characteristics are shared by homes that are considered luxury. Buyers looking at high price tag properties have certain standards for the home they are purchasing, such as upgraded flooring, unique custom features and

cabinets are assumed to be among the standard of any high-end home.

Take for instance this custom home in the country side sitting on about 5 acres. Elegant country living in this exquisitely detailed, Spanish Style custom built home offering unparalleled quality, finishes and design. Custom in every way with details that will amaze you at every turn. The floor plan is magnificent and has every room anyone could want with four full bedroom suites, five baths plus a detached office. You will be greeted by the grand two-story height rotunda with circular staircase leading to the living room with the most dramatic view of expansive pool and tropical landscape.

If downtown living is what you love, look no further than this Sanctuary condo unit.

Enjoy views of Lake

Eola and Downtown Orlando from the balcony, along with the master and guest bedrooms. Imagine being greeted downstairs by the concierge before you head to the 10th floor where you will enter into the spacious unit with wood and ceramic tile flooring in the main rooms and carpet in the bedrooms. Ready to work-out? Head out to the fifth floor to use the fitness center or take a dip in the pool. Having guests over? Relax by the pool or enjoy the clubroom. When you live in this luxury high-rise residence building, you get plenty of perks like the bonus of enjoying its three great restaurants and nearby events at the Abbey.

As the area’s growing real estate market takes hold, Ellen Thunell, Broker / VicePresident at Watson Realty Corp in ChampionsGate, shares her insight on what is fueling the boom. “Whether you’re looking at Downtown Orlando, ChampionsGate or surrounding subdivisions, this entire area is booming right now with new construction which in turn is feeding the real estate market. As the vacation capital of the world, we should expect to see this trend continue,” says Thunell.

Giving up suburban living for city life has its perks.

The wait is finally over for local residents to finally get a neighborhood cupcake bakery. Located right next door to Reunion Resort in the plaza behind CVS Pharmacy, Caque is not only serving up delicious cupcakes, but treating its guests to sweet pink and gold filled ambiance complete with fancy chandeliers. Caque Owner, Arriel Young, has always dreamed of owning a bakery.
