IF NOT NOW, WHEN? “Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.” Psalms 105:3, 4 You probably just skimmed over the above verse carefully; I encourage you to read it again.

// 3 DAYS OF FASTING IN AUGUST // A few weeks ago I arrived to Lancaster, PA where Tim and I were picked up by one of the local pastors. After dinner he offered to drive us to see the Sight and Sound Theater, a world famous 2,000 seat building that presents huge dramas about biblical characters. I was actually very tired but agreed to go, out of pure courtesy. When we arrived at the very beautiful and exteriorly well-lighted building, I was impressed by the grounds, but really wanted to go to my room and rest.

“Let’s get off so you can see the lobby,” he invited, “They are showing Jonah.” I figured we were already there, so to the lobby we went. A very courteous lady asked how she could help me. I mentioned that we had just flown in from Los Angeles and had stopped by to see the building. “The show is about at the half way point,” she said, “Would you like to see the second half? Let’s hurry so that you won’t miss the whale!”

CONTINUATION OF “PASTOR’S THOUGHTS’

My interest perked up and soon we were sitting in the back row of one of the balconies. I was immediately mesmerized by - precisely - the sight and sound. We walked in just as Jonah was being thrown off the boat. I was soon drawn in by the story and songs. The part where the King called this pagan and gentile nation to repentance through a three day fast (Children and animals included!) was extremely moving.

Just seeing the King and his court and all the city fall on their faces (and ultimately Jonah also fall on his face) was very moving. I was literally in tears seeing the effects of repentance and fasting dramatized before my very eyes. // Fasting still works! // I’m calling FTC to 3 days of Fasting.

It’s who we are and what we do...we each have 168 hours a week. Imagine just giving 2 hours on Sunday...more is needed and LG’s are the vehicle we use to accomplish the mission of making disciples as Jesus asked.
