SMALL GROUP SEMESTER BEGINS! REMNANT WOMEN’S CONFERENCE

SMALL GROUPS

PASTOR’S THOUGHTS SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE d

AN URGENT CALL “Pray without ceasing.” I Thessalonians 5:17 “I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day…” II Timothy 3:1 Without ceasing? Really? Without “ceasing,” – literally: uninterruptedly, without omission, without intermission. There’s more: “assiduously, “incessantly,” “continually.” Doesn’t God know I work? Ever heard of kids? Has he seen my kitchen (garage, yard, car, schedule, marriage)? I really don’t even think about prayer. Pray tell, (pun intended), how does a mother of 1-2-3-4-5 (or 1 that seems like 5) pray “without ceasing?” Come on, I don’t even have time to sleep. How does a two-job (insert here: or long job, or far job, or own-my-own job, or no job) father have time to pray? I have school work, homework, class work, 16 units work, work,-work – “without ceasing?” How do I… How does a tired (weary, burnt out, exhausted, drained, beat, fatigued – story of our life?) working Mom… I’m glad you asked! The Lord has called us to pray, to learn to pray, to talk about prayer, to practice prayer and to pray more. Look around, the world is going down fast and the church (pillar and stay of the truth) can’t go down with it. I don’t know how it works, but prayer works. I need it, my spouse needs it, my kids need it. Prayer changes things. (It seems that we live it reversed: Things Change Prayer – scary!) It humbles me. It brings me to reality. It shows me I’m nothing without God. It breaks me. It bring me peace.

SMALL GROUP Praise the Lord! We are excited to announce that Small Groups will start the week of September 7th. We have a variety of groups that will minister to you and to all that will attend. To highlight just a few ~ we have Small Groups that are dedicated to:

PRAYER - where the members join together in intercessory prayer. COMMUNITY SERVICE - reaching out to help meet the needs in our community, through giving such things as warm hand-made blankets to children’s shelters and to others that are displaced, back packs filled with school supplies, and food to the homeless. READING BOOKS - reading and discussing books that can aide in our spiritual walk with the Lord. COUPLES – encouraging couples by addressing life issues in fun ways and with great fellowship. BOXING – where you can be strengthened both spiritually and physically. REMNANT – Young people coming together forming friendships and growing in the Lord together. We are working on adding more Small Groups. I am pleased to say that there has been increased interest from people wanting to lead a group and wanting to offer their home to host a group. God is touching hearts. Often times, for whatever reason, some sit back and do not get involved. I know that getting involved requires you to step out of your comfort zone, and I understand that it may make you nervous, and that it will add to your work load. But I also know, that when God allows you to help someone, when He allows you to say something that will make a person that was getting ready to end it all say, My brother or sister, you said something that gave me HOPE; It is worth it all! I would like to take this time to say that we still need more Leaders. We will provide the training and the needed support to get you up and impacting the world for the kingdom of God. FTC, the Bible is still bringing to our attention that the Harvest is plenteous. There are a lot of souls that just need someone that will effectively minister to them; someone who will come to their aide and say,” I cannot take the pain away, however, I can go through the pain with you, and point you to Someone who can.” Oh what a blessing it is to have friends in the time of need, but in order to have friends, one must show himself friendly. FTC members get involved with small Groups today!!!. Lead one, host one, or join one! Only what you do for Christ will last. May God richly bless each of you. Please let us know if we can answer any questions, or be of any assistance. Bro. Wendell Wright BRO. WENDELL & SIS. TRACY WRIGHT. wendell4me@aol.com tracy8412@aol.com

PASTOR’S THOUGHTS

Pray in the morning and the rest of your day falls into place. Don’t pray and watch what happens. Tired of hollow Christianity? Tired of going through the motions. Tired of pretending? A few months ago we took FTCA students to Pretend City somewhere in Irvine. I took Zachy with me. I watched the kids pretend to be fry-cooks, pretend to be gas station attendants, pretend to be construction workers and dentists – well…it’s Pretend City. It seems the only thing missing in that children’s museum is a pretend church. I shuttered at the thought that God may be looking down at us as we ‘pretend’ church. Lack of prayer will do that. AN URGENT CALL TO PRAYER I’m inviting you to join us for 11 Mondays (one Tuesday because of Labor Day) from September 8, 2015 through November 9, 2015 at 7pm in the Q&A room to come and pray and learn to pray. (See brochure and be alert for announcement and free registration). This is a serious class session; the intent is to guide us to be a praying church - then watch God do things. We will receive a lecture-type lesson on Monday’s and then discuss, ruminate, dialogue and apply during the small groups. It will enhance, not be redundant. Bring your kids, teach them to pray with you. (There will be Children’s activities) This may be the last call,

Pastor Sam Valverde
