Our Year 11 students have diligently worked towards their goals and aspirations this year, showcasing their capabilities and proving themselves to be a remarkable group of young adults with bright futures ahead. It has been inspiring to witness their growth and development as they navigate this pivotal stage in their education. I commend the students who have demonstrated flexibility and resilience, particularly those who have had to change subjects or pathways for various reasons. Making such adjustments is not easy but their determination to succeed speaks volumes about their character.
I would also like to express my gratitude to the staff who have gone above and beyond to accommodate new students in their classes. Your efforts to ensure these students have access to everything they need to thrive are greatly appreciated. It’s this collaborative spirit within our community that fosters a nurturing environment for all our students.
As we look ahead, I’m excited to share that the 2025 Ball Committee was formed in Term 4 and planning
is already underway to create a memorable and enjoyable evening for our Year 12 students early next year. This event is not only a celebration of their hard work but also an opportunity to make lasting memories with their peers.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to the team of students who assisted with the design process for next year’s leavers’ jackets. This was another challenging yet rewarding experience that I had not been involved in before and I truly enjoyed collaborating with such creative minds.
Once again, it has been a genuine pleasure working alongside this year group. I look forward to continuing our journey together as they progress through their studies.
As we approach the holiday season, I wish everyone a safe and happy break. Take this time to relax and recharge - you’ve earned it! I hope you return refreshed and ready to embrace all that 2025 has in store.

This year the AFL and AFLW programs have engaged in numerous events such as camps, lightning carnivals, WAFC run competitions and guest speakers. The program has also seen some fantastic individual achievements, including state representation and individual honours within their community teams.
At the end of 2024 our senior school cohort travelled to Queensland and northern New South Wales and embarked on a tour which included a game versus the Gold Coast Suns Academy, a special visit from ex-player Johnathan Brown, a trip to Dreamworld and a visit to Byron Bay. The tour came off the back of winning the Senior School Boys Cup. In 2024, although the boys showed great effort and determination throughout the same competition, fell short of achieving the same heights. However, the experience of playing at Optus Stadium against Churchlands SHS and coming away victorious was a fantastic occasion for the boys and one they will not forget.
The Year 8 and 9 boys competed in the Waalijt Cup and Eagles Cup throughout Term 2 and although the competitions didn’t go to plan, they showed some huge steps forward in the way they played together, setting the Year 9’s up for an exciting year in 2025 as they step into Senior School football.
Our lower school girls had a fantastic year, firstly winning the Freo Dockers Cup Lightning Carnival in Term 2 and recently taking out the Division 1 Freo Dockers Schoolgirls Cup for the first time in the school’s history. What made it even more special is that it is only the second year the school has had a girls AFL program. Both groups also attended a leadership and connection camp at Forrest Edge Recreational Camp in Waroona. Throughout the camps, students were tested physically and mentally as they were asked to repeatedly step out of their comfort zones.
Some notable individual achievements throughout the year include:
• Year 9 student Jayke Taylor represented the 15’s WA State Schoolboys premiership winning team on the Gold Coast.
• Year 11 student Koby Evans represented the WA State 18’s team in the National Championships. What was more impressive was that he was one of two 17-year-olds to make the squad. He also played in a U17’s national game played at the MCG prior to the AFL Grand Final.
• The program also had a number of players who made WAFL pathway squads, some for the first time in both the boys’ and girls’ programs.
• Throughout Term 3, several students triumphed in community club grand finals.
• Year 12 student Tylah Williams played for Swan Districts Colts team in the WAFL Colts grand final at Optus Stadium in late September.
2025 looks to be another exciting year in the programs as the students embark on more competitions, camps, guest speakers and another tour to the Gold Coast.
