LEISURE improves with practice and tuition. Soon you will be out there, on the greensward, with only one concentrated thought in mind, all other worries put aside, can you reach and touch that distant jack?

May, charming May!

When, with a slight relaxation of the Cocid19 restrictions, we are at last able to venture onto the bowling Green For those of you who are new to, or considering joining, the bowling fraternity, as friendly a bunch of locals as you are ever likely to meet, there is the promise of joy and victories to come, as your game steadily

However, to achieve your goal you will need to practice, and from 17th April until 17 of May we will be allowing club members, and you when you join us, to play practice games. During this period Covid 19 rules and restrictions limit us to 6 persons on site at any one time. You will need to book beforehand via our website, or by email to our Captain, who for newcomers will arrange a playing partner, and play will be in 1 hour sessions, with ½ hour gaps to permit socially distant arrival and departure. We are hopeful that these restrictions will be lifted as the season progresses, so that at

last you will be able to enjoy a full afternoon of play, pitting your wits against those of opposing teams, and glorying in that brief ripple of applause as your efforts dislodge the opponent’s wood and you win the end! As the sun sets, and you enjoy those much anticipated refreshments, you can look back on an afternoon well spent, with pleasant company, sun tanned and exercised, and rejoice that you were lucky enough to join this wonderful bowling club – happy days indeed! Alresford Bowling Club

We are a friendly bowling club, situated in Sun Lane, close to the centre of Alresford. During the bowling season (roughly mid-April to September) we play many friendly matches against local clubs, have a number of internal competitions and knock-out tournaments, and regular roll-up sessions. Roll-ups are opportunities to meet, play and socialise with other members, and take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 10.00am to 12.00 noon, and Thursday evenings 6.00pm to 8.00pm (with a social element). Visitors are welcome at roll-ups, and at other times when accompanied by a Member. 2021 is a good year to join the Club, as we have a one-year-only half-price membership offer of £40 for Playing members (£10 for Social Members). Lawn bowls is a great game, not just for the retired but for adults of all ages; and we can provide bowls for you to have a go. Further information from Barry Morgan (Club Secretary) 01962 733477; and on the club website.
