PSAT/NMSQT FORT STUDENTS

ello all! Last year, our class of 2025 took the PSAT. The PSAT is a practice SAT students can take as sophomores. I recommend everyone takes it for practice, potential scholarships, and just because there shouldn’t be a reason not to. The PSAT is not required to apply to most colleges, and the SAT is phasing out as well, but both can still make you eligible for a lot of scholarships. Even if there may not be as many that you can get from the PSAT, it is a very important practice to have for
the SAT. One of the biggest challenges for the SAT can be the stress from being in an environment where every action you make matters. Every question’s answer is important to getting a better grade. The PSAT can help you lessen the stress by giving you some insight into how the test goes, how hard it is, and just being more familiar with the process. The scores came back at the end of last year (https://studentscores.collegeboard.org/home). Students who get placed in the top 10 percent get automatically placed into a program for the NMSQT scholarship. This scholarship then has you retake the test this year, and students who do well will apply for the scholarship, and get it for very little work in total. This is one of the reasons I think everyone at our school should take the PSAT, no matter what. If you do well, it’s free money! Also, students who win the NMSQT scholarship can also get a larger scholarship from sponsors. For example, you can get a massive scholarship from WSU!
