ARTS & HUMANITIES– FORT MEIGS

KARATE

Karate offers physical fitness, self-confidence, and discipline.

Students will learn karate and self-defense in a fun, safe atmosphere! All Karate classes are held in Studio 4. All testing fees are included in class cost. Uniforms are an additional $25. More questions? See Sensei Amanda for more information.

MUSIC PIANO/KEYBOARDS (AGES 7 & UP)

This program is taught on an electric keyboard supplied by the YMCA. Conference Room B. Member: $35 Non Member: $70 YOUTH KARATE- (ages 5-12) THURSDAY 5:00-5:45PM This class is perfect for new students. Increase muscle tone, 6:00-6:45PM flexibility, endurance, coordination and speed. Create a feeling of focus in your daily life, increased self-esteem, respect for self and others, self discipline and learn self defense.

GUITAR, BEGINNER (AGES 6 & UP) Members: $ 50 Learn the basics of guitar including proper fingering, chords Non Members: $100 and scales. Please bring your own acoustic guitar.

This is a mixed rank class (beginners through advanced) of tween ages (8-14). Uniforms may be purchased through the Member Service Desk – please bring your receipt to class to receive uniform. Testing Fee included.

KIDS FITNESS KIDS YOGA (AGES 3-12)

Uses a flowing movement to connect yoga postures.

Promotes strength, stamina and stability while enhancing flexibility, breath awareness and mental focus, ending in relaxation.

ARTS & HUMANITIES– FORT MEIGS DANCE DANCE RECITAL SESSION All dance classes will be in the recital. The session runs April 26-June 19. It’s an 8-week commitment with our “Candyland” Annual Dance Recital on Saturday, June 19. A costume fee $20 will be added at registration time. No refunds on costumes. Your instructor will handle the details of the costumes. Due to COVID guidelines our dance recital will not look like it has in the past but we are excited to see the kids showcase once again.

Continuation of Ballet-Intro with emphasis on basic ballet positions and introduction of basic ballet barre work. This class is appropriate for children ages 5 & up with completion of Ballet-Intro or previous ballet class and instructor placement. We recommend a dance leotard and ballet shoes.

JAZZ (AGES 7 AND UP) Learn basic jazz steps and movements. Appropriate for all skill levels.

PRAISE DANCE - ADVANCED (8-UP)

This class will start with a short prayer and devotional encouraging the YMCA character qualities. In this class we will focus on basic movement and learn to “praise His name with the dancing,” as it states in Psalms 149:3.

ARTS ART TOTS –with parent (ages 1-3) Student and parent will discover and explore many different art materials together from paint to clay. Be prepared to have fun getting messy!

A fun and upbeat class that explores basic hip hop skills through creative movement. This class is perfect for those who love to dance to upbeat music!

A fun energetic introduction to the world of Hip Hop dancing. Kids will learn to pop, rock, and move to the latest music.

GROWING LITTLE ATHLETES (Ages 3-5)

Girls and boys will be taught the basic skills of volleyball including bumping, setting, serving, and moving around a volleyball court. Coaches will teach game situation techniques in the form of fun team drills.

This clinic is for beginners and those who want to work on their basic skills.

This class will teach your little one fun ways to move and will include games to accomplish this goal. We will combine skills from all different kinds of sports to work on over all wellness and movement.

This parent/child class is a great way to introduce your 3-4 year old to the game of soccer. This is a fun program developed for children to introduce them to the basic concepts of soccer.

Whether your child is new to the game or looking to further their skill development, this clinic is perfect. This program will focus on the fundamentals that are so essential to the game of basketball while increasing the player’s performance level.

With adherence to the CDC and ReStart Ohio guidelines, learn the new paddleball sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Come develop the skills in an environment that emphasizes good sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperative play and a love of recreational sports.

Use of own equipment strongly encouraged.

Get up and moving with the return of our adult volleyball league, with a few modifications. This is a four week 4 v. 4 league that gives players a safe and fun space to unwind and play volleyball.

Active kids are BACK! Put down the video game & jump over For ages 7 and up. Intermediate tumbling. Skills include: power round the couch! G2N (Gymnastic to Ninja) challenges kids of all off, front and back walkovers, front and back handsprings. Tumbling ages using Jonathan Horton’s G2N’s system and curriculum to 1 skills MUST be mastered first. For ages 6 and up. be active, creative and skillful. You can call it warrior, parkour TUESDSAY or ninja...we call it fun!!! Co-ed.

Designed for girls ages 11 and older. You’re never too old to start! An age sensitive option for beginners and gymnasts of all skill levels.

PRE-TEAM

Gymnasts in Girls 5 and Girls 6 who are interested and ready for competitive gymnastics may try out for this training program. Pre-team gymnasts will focus heavily on USAG Level 3 competitive routines and skills. This class meets twice weekly and commitment to attendance is encouraged. Tryouts will be in June and December only, date and time will be posted. Realistic expectation would be for the gymnast to be ready for the annual June Gymcat tryouts.

Y’s Guys compete USAG routines at USAG meets throughout Ohio and Michigan. Practice year round. USAG levels 4 -10.
