The Multicultural Student Leadership Council (MSLC) is made up of the cultural organizations on campus, spanning different races, religion and other underrepresented groups here at Quinnipiac. Andrew DePass, Executive Chair of the MSLC, explained how its central role is to support these organizations “Our goal is to provide a platform for these students, especially when it comes to creating change on campus, in addition to supporting these organizations, supporting the communities that they support and then fostering collaboration between all of them because we work better as a unit,” DePass said. MSLC can support these organizations through funding if they do not get enough money for a vendor or an event. It also helps multicultural organizations get started if they are new. The MSLC gets involved in activism as well and trying to make changes within the university. Last summer following the mass Black Lives Matter protests sparked by the deaths of people like George Floyd, the MSLC drafted and proposed a 10-page plan for change in diversity inclusion on campus at the faculty, administrative and student level. “We do a lot of drafting of proposals, sort of getting the ideas of students. And then constructing ways in which we can find solutions and proposing that to you know bigger bodies like SGA and administration.”

“Our goal is to provide a platform for these students, especially when it comes to creating change on campus.”
