For over ten years, the Muslim Student Association (MSA) has given a solid community to Muslim students at Quinnipiac University.

The group holds events such as Rose Day, Eid Dinner and Hijab Day. According to Irsa Awan, senior health science major and president of MSA, these events are opportunities to inform the greater Quinnipiac community while also giving MSA members a group to celebrate their religion with.

“These events not only bring in those who are Muslim, but those of other faiths as well,” Awan said. “It’s a great way to spread what we stand for and gives those the chance who are not familiar with Islam to ask questions and understand.”

The MSA is open to all Quinnipiac students who are open to sharing. Meetings feature discussions about the Muslim experience in the Quinnipiac community and around the world.

“(MSA is) a safe space for everyone who needs to be heard and feel comfortable being who they are,” Awan said. “You don’t have to be the perfect Muslim, you just have to be a good person.”
