With only four members, many Quinnipiac students have never heard of Lambda Theta Phi Fraternity, Inc., but for those involved, it’s a crucial part of their college experience. “I know everything there is to know about them,” said Derek Hernandez, vice president of Lambda Theta Phi. “They are the true definition of a brother.” The fraternity formed a chapter at Quinnipiac in 2017 and while it was “Latin founded,” Hernandez said the brothers are not

“Latin bound.” “Our founders were all Latino men, but the culture has changed and we accept any culture, race and creed,” Hernandez said. “We are very open-minded to everyone.” The mission of Lambda Theta Phi is to “empower males through scholarship, brotherhood and opportunity and protection of identity and equality,” Hernandez said. While the fraternity is currently very small, Hernandez said he and the other members are actively working to recruit new brothers.
