Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is the first historically Black intercollegiate fraternity. It was founded on Dec. 4, 1906 at Cornell University by seven men that are referred to as the seven jewels. It helps to create a space for men to foster growth and provide community service and brotherly love. Although based out of Yale, the Zeta chapter, which was founded on April 10, 1909, invites Quinnipiac students and has goals of encouraging manly deeds, scholarship and a love for

all mankind. Alpha Phi Alpha’s purpose is to provide for college men a more perfect union, foster members’ personal growth and relationships, mitigate prejudice and create a safe community. Alpha Phi Alpha’s motto is “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.” With a mission of developing leadership, encouraging brotherhood, academic excellence and community service. Alpha Phi Alpha takes great strides in the personal growth and achievement of its members by creating a supportive space that encourages a challenging atmosphere towards personal betterment.
