Als student leer je op de academie èn in het werkveld. Voor je het weet, sta je op professionele podia zoals 013, Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg, Paradox of De Nieuwe Vorst. We geloven in de kracht van samenwerking met het professionele werkveld, zodat je goed voorbereid bent op een succesvolle carrière in de kunsten.
Studeren is niet alleen een vak leren maar ook je blik op de wereld verruimen en nieuwe mensen en perspectieven leren kennen. Eigenheid, aandacht, verbinding en veiligheid vormen de kern van alles wat we doen. We hechten veel waarde aan respectvolle omgang met elkaar en zorgen ervoor dat iedereen zich gezien en gehoord voelt. We ondersteunen elkaar, ook als het even wat minder gaat. Bij ons luister je naar elkaars perspectieven en reageren we op de veranderingen en behoeften in onze omgeving. We stimuleren de ontmoeting.

At Fontys, you will learn to make art and develop your talents, while remaining free to be yourself. The love of art is tangible in everything we do.
Our international community is a source of inspiration for everyone with a passion for circus, theatre, dance, music, musical, visual art, design or architecture. We share this passion, and bring our valuable practical experience and love for the profession to the classroom.
Our students learn both in the academy and in the professional field. Before you know it, you will be performing on stage at professional venues, such as 013, Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg, Paradox or De Nieuwe Vorst. We believe in the power of collaboration with the professional sector to give our students the best possible preparation for a successful career in the arts.
Studying is not only about learning a subject; it is also about broadening your view of the world and getting to know new people and perspectives. Individuality, attention, connection and safety are at the heart of everything we do. We never forget how important it is to treat each other with respect and make sure that everyone feels seen and heard. We support each other, even when things are not going so well. We listen to each other's perspectives and respond to changes and needs in our environment. We encourage the encounter.

Welkom bij Fontys Academy of the Arts! Een plek met 17 kunstopleidingen onder één dak. Een unieke, bruisende en experimentele plek. Wij stimuleren je om, met kunst, de wereld van morgen te creëren en het verschil te maken.

Je ontwikkelt hier je eigen talent en tegelijkertijd kom je in contact met studenten van andere kunstopleidingen. Dit geeft inspiratie, is de start van een waardevol netwerk én je verbreedt en verdiept je eigen horizon. Je wordt meer dan ‘gewoon goed’ in je vak.
Persoonlijk en veiligheid voorop!
Onze studenten, docenten, alumni en lectoren vormen een fijne community. Studenten ervaren bij ons een kleinschalige en veilige leeromgeving waarin zij experimenteren en fouten mogen en moeten maken. Onze docenten inspireren, coachen, delen kennis en ervaring en hebben aandacht voor jou als persoon en voor jouw eigen stijl en geluid.

All kinds of inspiration under one roof
You develop your own talent while connecting with students from other art programmes. This not only sparks inspiration, but it will also be the start of a valuable network, as well as enabling you to deepen and broaden your own horizons. You become more than ‘just good’ at your craft.
A safe and personal environment
Our students, teachers, alumni and professors form a close community. Students are nurtured by our small-scale and safe learning environment in which they can experiment and can –or even should – make mistakes. Our teachers inspire, coach, share knowledge and experience, and will pay attention to you as a person and to your own style and sound.
A diversity of people
Our students and teachers come from the Netherlands and from abroad. This ensures a diverse mix of people; something we are proud of. We are also proud of our (inter)national network of partners. This network makes it possible for you to discover and explore the world from your base in the heart of Tilburg, ‘City of Creators’.

Studying in Tilburg Studeren in Tilburg
Je studeert in het centrum van de stad. Tilburg stimuleert de verbeelding, is rauw en tegendraads en is, met zo’n 30.000 studenten, een levendige studentenstad. Er is altijd iets te doen! De gemeente vindt kunst en cultuur belangrijk en dat merk je. We vroegen onze studenten wat zij de leukste plekken vinden. Ze noemen de parken zoals onze Muzentuin, het Spoorpark, de Loonse- en Drunense Duinen en de Moerenburg. Feesten, koffiedrinken en chillen doen ze aan de Piushaven, de Spoorzone, de Korte Heuvel en het Stadhuisstraatje. De evenementenkalender is elk seizoen goed gevuld! Vergeet ook niet de topmusea en poppodia, zoals De Pont, het Textielmuseum, Poppodium013, Paradox, de Nieuwe Vorst en Kunstpodium T.
Vragen we studenten waar ze het liefst studeren, dan noemen ze de LocHal (één van de mooiste bibliotheken ter wereld) en Boove & Benee. Die laatste vind je in de Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg (waar ze ook altijd op zoek zijn naar collega’s > bijbaan tip!).
You study in the city centre. Tilburg stimulates your imagination and is raw and defiant. Home to around 30,000 students, it is a lively student city. There is always something to do! The city council values the importance of art and culture, and it shows. We asked our students about their favourite places in Tilburg. Some mentioned parks such as our Muzentuin, Spoorpark, the Loonse and Drunense Dunes, and Moerenburg. To party, drink a coffee, or just relax, they go to Piushaven, Spoorzone, de Korte Heuvel and Stadhuisstraatje. The events calendar is well filled every season! Let’s not forget our first-class museums and pop venues: De Pont, the Textile Museum, Poppodium013, Paradox, the Nieuwe Vorst and Kunstpodium T.
When we asked students where they preferred to study, they said LocHal (one of the most beautiful libraries in the world) and Boove & Benee. The latter is located in the Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg (where they are always looking for staff if you fancy a part-time job!).
Tilburg was voor mij liefde op het tweede gezicht. Het is hier knus en gezellig. Er zijn veel leuke dingen te doen. De alternatieve gemeenschap groeit in Tilburg. Hierdoor zijn er meer events rondom muziek, theater, dans, circus en andere kunstprojecten.

Docent Beeldende Kunst en Vormgeving Fine Art and Design in Education
Wil je beeldende kunst maken, bekijken, erover praten en het anderen leren? Dan is de opleiding Docent Beeldende Kunst en Vormgeving iets voor jou. We leiden je in vier jaar tijd op tot docerend kunstenaar. Een professional die de wereld artistiek, educatief en creatief vormgeeft via kunst en cultuur.
Kunsteducatie combineert creativiteit en nieuwsgierigheid. Je leert zelf creëren en je werk te exposeren. Via kunsttheorie, didactiek, pedagogiek en beeldende praktijk ontwikkel je een eigen visie op het kunstvakdocentschap.
Tijdens stages ontdek je hoe je met verschillende groepen werkt. Denk aan scholieren, museumbezoekers en kunsteducatie organisaties. En natuurlijk je eigen ‘publiek’ als je ook zelfstandig kunstenaar of vormgever wordt.
Elk studiejaar werk je aan projecten met studenten van andere kunstopleidingen (muziek, dans en theater) van Fontys Academy of the Arts. Bij die projecten zijn ook externe opdrachtgevers betrokken. Zo kun je na je opleiding direct aan de slag als docerend kunstenaar.
Do you want to create, look at and talk about fine art and learn more about it from others? If so, our Fine Art and Design in Education programme may be just right for you. This four-year study programme will train you to become an artist who can also teach; a professional who can shape the world artistically, educationally and creatively through art and culture.
Art education combines creativity and curiosity, as you learn to create and show your work. Art theory, didactics, pedagogy and visual practice will all help you to develop your own personal vision of educating art.
During internships, you will discover how to work with different groups, such as school children, museum visitors, and art education organisations. Not to forget, of course, your own audience if you also decide to become an independent artist or designer.
Each academic year, you will work on projects with students from other art programmes (music, dance and theatre) at Fontys Academy of the Arts. External clients are also involved in these projects, often enabling you to find work as a educating artist directly upon graduating.

Docent Dans
Dance in Education
Gek op dans? En ben je nieuwsgierig naar hoe je anderen inspireert met dans?
Bij ons ontwikkel jij jezelf als docent, maker en performer. Dat zijn drie gelijkwaardige onderdelen tijdens de opleiding. Alles komt evenveel aan bod. Daarnaast krijg je vrije ruimte voor eigen initiatieven.
Onze dansopleiding is ervaringsgericht. Wat je leert pas je meteen toe in de praktijk. We kijken naar je talenten en je krijgt persoonlijke coaching. Ook werk je, samen klasgenoten, aan projecten in jouw toekomstige werkveld. Je bouwt dus al tijdens je opleiding een netwerk op.
Cijfers? Wij werken liever met feedback waar je meteen mee aan de slag kunt. We werken en leren van en met elkaar.
Onze studenten zijn veel in de dansstudio’s te vinden. Voor danslessen, ontwikkeling van eigen performances en ook om met klasgenoten samen te komen en te dansen. En ook buiten de opleiding ontmoeten zij elkaar. Je maakt hier vrienden voor het leven!
Extra voordeel: we werken samen met andere kunstvormen zoals theater, muziek en beeldende vorming. Zo ontwikkel jij je tot een authentieke, eigenzinnige en bevlogen docent dans.
Are you crazy about dance and curious about how you could use it to inspire other people?
At Fontys, you will develop yourself as a teacher, creator, and performer. These three are equal in importance as elements of the study programme, so we give each aspect the same attention. You will also have plenty of space for your own initiatives.
Our dance programme focuses on experience. You apply what you learn immediately in practice. We will uncover your talents and give you personal coaching. Together with your classmates, you will work on projects in your future area of work, so you can start to build a professional network while you are still a student.
As for marks and scores, we prefer to work with feedback that you can apply straight away. We work and learn with and from each other.
Our students are often in the dance studios: taking dance lessons, developing their own performances, and meeting up and dancing with classmates. They also meet up outside of the study programme. You will be making lifelong friends here.
An extra benefit is that we collaborate with other art forms, such as theatre, music, and visual arts. This will help you to develop into an authentic, individual, and inspired dance teacher.

Docent Theater
Theatre in Education
Wil jij de combi maken van zowel doceren als theater maken?
We leiden je op tot professioneel docerend theatermaker die door middel van zelf maken en spelen anderen coacht, verbind en inspireert.
Bij ons leer je door te doen en werk je samen tijdens toffe projecten en stages. We bieden je een playground waarin je met elkaar of zelfstandig werkt. Elk jaar bestaat uit drie verschillende projecten waarin je lesgeeft, theater maakt of speelt. De expertlessen gebruik je om beter te worden. Tijdens de projecturen ontwerp je lessen, maak je voorstellingen of speel je zelf.
Je werkt en onderzoekt vier jaar samen met je klasgenoten. Samen plezier maken, lachen en soms huilen, samen successen vieren en alles opnieuw moeten doen. Je daagt jezelf uit, je experimenteert, treed buiten de gebaande paden en omarmt dingen niet standaard zijn. Onze docenten helpen je!
Na je studie ga je aan de slag als docent theater of theatermaker en soms ook als regisseur, trainingsacteur, producent of ondernemer.
Wij zijn onderdeel van Fontys Academy of the Arts. Een unieke plek waar veel kunstvormen samenkomen. Je krijgt de ruimte om samen te werken met studenten van andere kunstvakopleidingen.

Would you like to combine teaching and making theatre?
We will educate you to become a professional teaching theatre maker who coaches, connects and inspires others through making and performing.
At Fontys, you will work collaboratively on inspiring projects and internships, and learn by doing. We offer you a playground in which you can work both independently and with others. Each year will consist of three projects in which you teach, make theatre or perform, using these masterclasses to hone your skills. During the project hours, you will either design lessons, make performances or act in them yourself.
For four years, you will work and conduct research with your class mates. Together, you will have fun, laugh (and sometimes cry), celebrate your successes, and then start all over again. You will challenge yourself, experiment, step outside the box, and embrace the unusual. Our teachers will help you!
After completion of your study, you will be equipped to work as a theatre teacher or theatre maker, or as a director, training actor, producer or entrepreneur.
We are part of Fontys Academy of the Arts, a unique place that brings many different art forms together. You will be given the space to work collaboratively with students from other arts study programmes.

Docent Muziek
Music in Education
Adem jij muziek en heb je een eigen geluid? En wil je zowel op het podium staan als voor een groep? Bij ons ontdek je jouw eigen weg als muzikaal inspirator.
Je werkt vanuit je muzikantschap in diverse omgevingen met verschillende groepen mensen om hen muzikaal te inspireren. Van lesgeven tot een band coachen en van eigen muziek uitbrengen tot projecten opzetten. Wat je ook doet, jouw eigen stijl blijft altijd het vertrekpunt.
De opleiding is vernieuwend en heeft geen traditionele vakken, maar sessies met experts. Je leert door samen te werken met het werkveld en verkent nieuwe gebieden. Inspirerende docenten, professionals en medestudenten dagen je uit om creatief te zijn.
Je hoeft niet te kiezen; je kan al je muzikale en educatieve dromen volgen. In het vierde jaar creëer je een inspirerende muzikale leerervaring voor individuen en groepen. Een ervaring die ook past bij jouw eigen kracht en energie.
Het werkveld vraagt om muzikale inspirators met een eigen geluid. Met een diploma van Fontys Docent Muziek op zak voldoe je aan deze vraag. Daarnaast verlaat je de opleiding met een bak aan waardevolle connecties in de kunstsector.
Do you live and breathe music, and do you have your own sound? Do you want to perform on stage and also in the classroom? We will help you to find your way as a musician who inspires others.
You will use your musical skills in a variety of settings and with different groups of people to inspire them through music. From teaching to coaching a band, and from releasing your own music to setting up projects. Whatever you do, your own style will always be the departure point.
This is an innovative study programme in which traditional subjects are replaced by sessions with experts. You will learn by working in the profession and exploring new areas. Inspiring lecturers, professionals and fellow students will all challenge you to be creative.
You do not have to choose between your dreams to be a musician and being a teacher; you can follow both paths. In your fourth year, you will create an inspiring musical learning experience for individuals and groups. This experience must also match your own strengths and energy.
This field of work demands inspirational musicians with their own sound. With a Music in Education diploma from Fontys, you will meet these criteria. You will also be graduating with a network of valuable connections in the art sector.

Op exposities blijken bezoekers gemiddeld acht seconden naar een kunstwerk te kijken. Ik zoek naar manieren om aandacht langer vast te houden.

Art, Communication and Design
Ontwerpen die prikkelen, verwonderen, nieuwsgierig maken en gesprekken op gang brengen. Als experience designer maak je ontwerpen die niet alleen een geweldige ervaring bieden, maar ook aanzetten tot nadenken. Bijvoorbeeld over thema's zoals klimaat, diversiteit, eenzaamheid en verduurzaming.
De opleiding start breed, zodat je veel experimenteert, je skills ontdekt én ontwikkelt. Je onderzoekt en test ideeën en concepten en geeft ze vorm met diverse materialen en technieken. Jouw inspiratie komt uit alle kunstvormen. Je evalueert, reflecteert en schaaft bij. Zo sluit je ontwerp aan bij de beleving van je publiek en speelt het in op actuele gebeurtenissen in de wereld.
Onze bevlogen docenten bieden kennis, ontwerpmethodes, advies en een luisterend oor. Experimenteer in werkplaatsen voor hout, metaal, grafiek, keramiek en textiel. In de digitale werkplaats maak je met computergestuurde machines, zoals 3D-printers, van je concept een fysiek product. In het Curiosity Café komen kunst, technologie en studenten samen. Hier ontdek je hoe je innovaties, zoals AI, combineert met andere kunstvormen.
De veelzijdigheid van onze opleiding zorgt ervoor dat jij je uiteindelijk specialiseert in jouw talent. De interdisciplinariteit en flexibiliteit van onze alumni maakt dat zij gemakkelijk het werkveld betreden. Na vier jaar ben je een multidisciplinaire en multisensorische experience designer. Do you want to make designs that will excite, amaze, arouse curiosity and spark conversation? As an experience designer, you will produce designs that not only give people a fantastic experience, but also provoke them into thinking about a range of topics, such as climate, diversity, loneliness and sustainability.
This study programme starts with a broad base, enabling you to experiment widely to discover and develop your skills. You will research and test ideas and concepts, and shape them using diverse materials and techniques, deriving inspiration from all art forms as you evaluate, reflect and refine. This will teach you to make designs that resonate with the public and respond to what is going on in the world.
Our inspirational teachers are here to share their knowledge, teach you all about design methods, give advice, and lend a listening ear. We have workplaces in which you can experiment with wood, metal, graphics, ceramics and textiles. In our digital workplace, you can turn your concept into a physical product using computer operated machines, such as 3D printers. Art, technology and students come together in the Curiosity Cafe, where you can discover how to combine innovative techniques such as AI with other art forms.
The breadth of this study programme will ensure that you end up specialising in your talent. The interdisciplinarity and flexibility of our alumni makes it easy for them to enter the professional field. Rockacademie
Je plek veroveren in de popsector. Het is een gezamenlijke droom binnen Rockacademie. Hier studeren is meer dan het volgen van een opleiding. Vanaf dag één ben je opgenomen in een gepassioneerde groep creatieve mensen en inspirerende docenten. Veel bekende namen zijn hier ooit begonnen met die ene droom.
Bij ons ligt de focus op de verbinding tussen creativiteit, eigenheid, talent en ambitie en de mogelijkheden in de beroepspraktijk. Dat betekent dat je gaat optreden en opnemen, je krijgt muziektheorie, je leert hoe de popsector in elkaar zit en hoe je daar jouw plek vindt. We helpen je ook bij het opbouwen van je netwerk.
We begeleiden je bij het ontwikkelen van je talenten. Dit doen we in verschillende werkvormen. Tijdens de opleiding werk je al aan je ‘gemengde beroepspraktijk’. Hiermee bereid je je voor op een brede inzetbaarheid na je opleiding. Wij zorgen voor een veilige omgeving waarin je experimenteert, reflecteert en vooral jezelf mag zijn.

Everyone at Rockacademie dreams of achieving a place for themselves in the pop sector. This study entails more than just following a programme; from day one, you will be part of a passionate group of creative people and inspiring teachers. Many famous names started out here with the same dream.
We focus on the connection between creativity, individuality, talent and ambition, and the opportunities within the profession. This means that you will be performing and recording, studying music theory, finding out how the pop sector works, and discovering how you can find a place for yourself within it. We will also help you to build your network.
We will coach you to develop your talents. There are various ways to accomplish this. During the study programme, you will work on ‘mixed professional practice’ so that you will be employable in a wide range of positions after you graduate. We provide a safe environment in which you can experiment, reflect, and above all, be yourself.
We are part of Fontys Academy of the Arts, a unique place with multiple arts programmes under one roof. We encourage our students to work collaboratively with dance, design and theatre students, and we make space in the programme for such activities. There’s more than enough inspiration!

Op deze gerenommeerde opleiding leer je op hoog niveau zingen, dansen en acteren, want musicaltheaterperformers zijn veelzijdige artiesten.
Naast optreden leer je ook creëren. Dit maakt je breed inzetbaar. Het programma is veelzijdig en afwisselend. Naast lessen in zang, dans en acteren, krijg je ook regie en musicalgeschiedenis. De docenten zijn ervaren en werken in het vakgebied. Al tijdens je studie bouw je een netwerk op. Veel studenten worden tijdens of direct na het afstuderen gevraagd voor grote producties. Alumni spelen hoofdrollen in Nederlandse, Belgische en Duitse voorstellingen.
Naast spelen in musical- en muziektheaterproducties zijn er ook andere carrièremogelijkheden, zoals acteren in series of films. Of zie jij jezelf eerder als regisseur, zangdocent, choreograaf of een eigen dansschool of agency starten?
De studie is zwaar, zowel fysiek, mentaal als agendatechnisch. Doorzettingsvermogen en discipline en een sterke mindset zijn erg belangrijk. Elk jaar zijn er 25 plekken en zo’n 500 auditanten. Als het je eenmaal gelukt is, deel je het schoolgebouw van Fontys Academy of the Arts met getalenteerde studenten van allemaal verschillende kunstopleidingen. Je leert en werkt samen, wat zorgt voor nieuwe inspiratie en een waardevol netwerk, ook in andere kunstvormen.

Musical theatre performers are multi-talented artists. So, during this renowned study programme, you will learn to sing, dance and act to a high level. As well as performing, you will also learn to create. This will make you well-equipped to perform a wide variety of jobs when you graduate from this multi-faceted and varied programme. In addition to singing, dancing, and acting, you will also receive lessons in direction and musical history. Our lecturers are experienced artists who also work in this profession, so that you can begin to build your network during your study. Many of our students are asked to perform in major productions either during their study or immediately after graduation, and our alumni play leading roles in Dutch, Belgian and German productions.
There are other career options besides performing in musical and music theatre productions, such as acting in films or series. Or do you see yourself as a director, voice coach or choreographer? Or you could start your own dance school or agency.
This is an onerous study, both physically, mentally and in terms of the timetable; perseverance, discipline and a strong mindset are all important. There are only 25 places each year for the 500 candidates who come to audition, but if you succeed, you will share the Fontys Academy of the Arts building with talented students from many different art programmes. You will learn and work together, sparking fresh inspiration and creating a valuable network in your own and other art forms.

Ben je nieuwsgierig, gedreven, creatief en ondernemend? Wil je jouw eigen stijl ontwikkelen als danser of choreograaf?
Deze internationale bachelor biedt je alle ruimte die je nodig hebt om jezelf te ontwikkelen. Je experimenteert, je daagt jezelf zowel fysiek als artistiek uit. Je bepaalt je eigen leertraject. In een uitnodigende en levendige leeromgeving verken en ontwikkel je jouw persoonlijke interesses om zo een danser te worden met een eigen identiteit.
Samenwerking is essentieel. Je leert samen te maken, te denken en te ontwikkelen, soms met deskundigen uit andere vakgebieden. Docenten en medestudenten uit meer dan 25 landen vormen samen een hechte gemeenschap.
Ze delen en tonen hun eigen nationaliteit, cultuur en stijlen. In plaats van te concurreren, moedigen ze elkaar aan om de beste versie van zichzelf te worden. Dat geldt ook voor het hechte alumni netwerk, dat vaak terugkomt in de rol van gastdocent.
Dit programma is speciaal omdat het drie verschillende profielen aanbiedt, waarvan er twee uniek zijn: Choreography, Contemporary Urban en Contemporary.
Je wordt ondergedompeld in een veelzijdige dansomgeving met diverse perspectieven op wat dans is, kan zijn en kan betekenen in de wereld van vandaag en morgen. Het curriculum behandelt daarbij belangrijke maatschappelijke onderwerpen zoals inclusiviteit, racisme en body positivity. Dit alles bereidt je voor op waardevolle posities in zowel de podiumkunsten als de bredere samenleving.

This international programme gives you all the space you need to grow individually. You experiment, you challenge yourself both physically and artistically. You control your own learning path. In a warm and vibrant learning environment you explore and develop personal interests to become a dancer with your own identity.
Collaboration is key. You learn to create, think, and produce together, sometimes with professionals from other fields. Teachers and fellow students from over 25 countries form a strong community. They bring and showcase their own nationality, culture, and style. Instead of competing, they encourage and motivate each other to become the best version of themselves. So does the close alumni network, often returning as a guest teacher.
This programme is special because it offers three profiles of specialization, of which two are unique: Choreography, Contemporary Urban, and Contemporary.
You are immersed in a rich dance environment with multiple perspectives on what dance is, can be, and can mean in the world of today and tomorrow. The curriculum also covers important social topics like inclusivity, racism, and body positivity. This prepares you for valuable positions in both the performing arts and broader society.

Conservatory - Music and Performing Arts

Muziek is een universele taal die emoties oproept en mensen samenbrengt. Ons programma is innovatief en maatschappelijk betrokken.
Tijdens je studie (klassiek of jazz) verken je jouw muziek in verschillende sociale situaties. Je krijgt theorielessen over culturen, duurzaamheid en muziekgeschiedenis. Al deze opgedane kennis pas je toe in jouw optredens, je musiceert een verhaal.
Jouw individuele hoofdvaklessen zijn van een hoog niveau. Daarnaast werkt de opleiding fysiek en online veel samen met andere conservatoria in het buitenland, want muziek kent geen grenzen. Je studeert in Tilburg samen met een groep studenten vanuit de hele wereld. Zij brengen verschillende perspectieven en tradities mee en dit bevordert jouw artistieke groei. Je werkt ook samen met de andere kunstopleidingen van Fontys Academy of the Arts en met toonaangevende podia in Tilburg.

Music is a universal language that evokes emotions and brings people together and our programme is both innovative and socially engaged.
Throughout your study (classical or jazz) you will explore music in different social situations and receive theory lessons about different cultures, sustainability and music history. You will then apply all this knowledge in your performances, using music to tell a story.
Your individual main subject lessons will be of a high standard. As music has no boundaries, the study programme also works with other conservatoria, both physically and online. You will be studying in Tilburg with a group of international students who bring different perspectives and traditions from all over the world that will further your own artistic growth. You will also collaborate with students from other art study programmes at Fontys Academy of the Arts, and with leading venues in Tilburg.

Circus and Performance Art
Ben je klaar om je passie voor circus om te zetten in een spannende carrière?
Bij ons ontwikkel je jouw creativiteit en unieke talenten in een kleine hechte groep van internationale studenten en docenten.
Je krijgt professionele training van topdocenten en gastdocenten uit de internationale circuswereld. Naast je gekozen discipline, krijg je training in trampoline, acrobatiek en leer je riggingtechnieken. Ook werk je samen met studenten van andere opleidingen in dans, muziek en design.
We bereiden je voor op het werkveld met onze management- en organisatiecursussen. Met ons flexibele programma stel je je studie af op jouw unieke doelen en interesses.

You will receive professional training from our resident teachers and guest teachers from the international circus world. Kunst brengt verwondering in de samenleving waarin verandering een constante factor is. Kunsteducatie speelt een belangrijke rol in de wereld van vandaag én morgen.
In twee jaar tijd bereiden wij je voor op leidinggevende en coördinerende functies in het kunsteducatieve werkveld, denk hierbij aan het onderwijs en cultureleof beleidmakende instellingen. Vanuit verschillende invalshoeken maak jij samen met anderen het verschil.
Tijdens de master leer je vanuit onderbouwd onderzoek je eigen ideeën en visie op kunsteducatie te vormen. Onder leiding van experts uit binnen- en buitenland, verbreed en verdiep je jouw kennis van kunst, cultuur en educatie. De focus ligt op interculturaliteit. De master is ingericht vanuit een niet westers perspectief. Dit zie je terug in zowel leerinhoud als in leeractiviteiten. Een intensieve samenwerking met internationale partners zorgt voor verbinding tussen jou en professionals uit verschillende landen.
Een tweede speerpunt is de interdisciplinaire focus. Binnen de hechte leergemeenschap, waarin Nederlandse en Vlaamse studenten halen én brengen, zijn veel verschillende kunstdisciplines vertegenwoordigd. Wat de master tevens kenmerkt is een grote mate van eigenaarschap voor jou. In this two-year programme, we will prepare you for managerial and coordinating roles in the field of art education, for example, in schools, colleges, cultural agencies or policymaking institutions. Working with others from all these different perspectives will equip you to make a difference.
During the master’s programme, you will learn to shape your own vision and ideas about art education based on substantiated research. Under the leadership of experts from the Netherlands and abroad, you can broaden and deepen your knowledge of art, culture and education. The focus lies on interculturality. The programme has been designed from a non-Western perspective, and this is reflected in both the educational content and the learning activities. Intensive collaboration with international professionals ensures a connection between you and professionals from different countries.
The second key element of the programme is its interdisciplinary focus. Many different art disciplines are represented within this close-knit learning community, within Dutch and Flemish students both acquire and contribute knowledge. This master’s programme is also characterised by the large degree of ownership it affords you. In an interdisciplinary environment, you will experience a mix of curricula and be given plenty of scope to conduct your own artistic research and projects, and to explore your own specific learning questions.

Master Performing Public Space
Vandaag de dag vormen publieke ruimten een belangrijke plek voor artistiek activisme en maatschappelijke verandering. Dit masterprogramma biedt een unieke kans om conventies ter discussie te stellen en deze ruimtes te hervormen door middel van artistiek onderzoek en praktijk.
In de looptijd van één jaar brengt dit multidisciplinaire programma een diverse groep kunstenaars uit verscheidene disciplines samen. Ze komen van over de hele wereld, allemaal gemotiveerd om de rol van kunst in de samenleving te verkennen en om zich te verbinden met hedendaagse kwesties. Ze nemen deel aan ons programma om maatschappelijke normen te bevragen, te reflecteren op mondiale uitdagingen en de grenzen van hun artistieke praktijk te verleggen.
Gedurende het jaar ontwikkel je individuele onderzoeksprojecten onder begeleiding van betrokken docenten. Deze support creëert, samen met de diverse perspectieven van vakgenoten en het ontwikkelen van theoretische kennis, een omgeving waar samenwerking en kritische dialogen tot bloei komen.

Over the course of a year, this multidisciplinary programme brings together a diverse group of artists from different fields. They come from across the globe, all eager to explore the role of art in society and to engage with contemporary issues. They join our programme to question societal norms, reflect on global challenges, and push the boundaries of their artistic practice.
Throughout the year, you develop your individual research projects under the guidance of dedicated tutors. This support, alongside the diverse perspectives of their peers, and the theory input, fosters an environment in which collaboration and critical dialogue can flourish. Even after graduating, our alumni network remains a valuable resource, providing connections, opportunities, and forms a lively artistic community.
One of the key strengths of our programme is its focus on artistic research. You are encouraged to incorporate your artistic practice into your academic research, creating a dynamic exchange between the two.

Master Choreography
Deze tweejarige deeltijdmaster is een innovatieve gezamenlijke master van Codarts Rotterdam en Fontys Academy of the Arts Tilburg. Het programma stelt ervaren bewegingsmakers uit verschillende disciplines in staat om artistiek onderzoek te doen op basis van hun huidige praktijk.
Omring jezelf met een levendige leeromgeving. Duik in de diverse bewegingsstijlen en creatieve domeinen. Co-creëer het curriculum, geef samen vorm aan de opdrachten en werk aan betekenisvolle projecten met vakgenoten.
Je volgt jaarlijks drie ‘intensive sessions’ en maakt gebruik van alle dans-, theorie- en circusfaciliteiten op beide topcampussen. Je krijgt nieuwe inzichten in je eigen praktijk en bestudert theoretische ideeën. Je test je kennis in verschillende omgevingen, met als afsluiting een openbare presentatie en een scriptie.
Als een Master of Arts in movement creeër je, verbind je verrijk je ideeën. Het programma biedt veel benaderingen, bewegingsstijlen en creatieve domeinen, terwijl je verbonden blijft met je eigen werk. Je ontdekt nieuwe perspectieven om jouw creatieve werk te benaderen en te delen. Het opent deuren naar academische, educatieve en creatieve sectoren. This part-time, two-year master is an innovative joint degree from Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam and Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg. It empowers experienced movement creators from various fields to conduct artistic research based on their current practice.
Immerse yourself in a vibrant learning environment. Dive deep into movement styles and creative fields. Co-create the curriculum, shape assignments collaboratively and engage in meaningful work with peers.
You will attend three intensive sessions each year. Utilize full dance, theory, and circus facilities at both top campuses. You will review your practices and study theoretical ideas. You test your knowledge in different settings, ending with a public presentation and thesis.
