At the age of 14, Craig played roles in "Oliver", "Romeo and Juliet" and "Cinderella" at Hilbre High School in West Kirby. He left Hilbre High at 16 to audition at the National Youth Theatre's (NYT) troupe on their tour in Manchester in 1984. He was accepted and moved down to London. As a struggling actor with the NYT, he worked in restaurant kitchens and as a waiter. Craig performed with NYT on tours to Spain and Russia. He failed at repeated auditions at the Guildhall, but eventually in 1988, he entered the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at the Barbican. There, he studied alongside Ewan McGregor and Alistair McGowan, Damian Lewis and Joseph Fiennes. He graduated in 1991. From 1992-1994, he was married to Scottish actress Fiona Loudon and had a daughter, Ella Craig, born in 1992.

His father, Tim Craig, was a merchant seaman turned steel erector, then became landlord of "Ring O' Bells" pub in Frodsham, Cheshire. His mother, Carol Olivia Craig, was an art teacher. His parents split up in 1972, Craig was raised with his older sister Lea by his mother, in Liverpool, then in Hoylake. From the age of 6, Craig started acting in school plays, making his debut in the Frodsham Primary School production of “Oliver!” and his mother was the driving force behind his artistic aspirations. He was also a good athlete and was a rugby player at Hoylake Rugby Club.

The stoves we sell are fully functional heating appliances that can be used regularly as a main heat source, not just as a focal point which is used once a year. Modern wood burning stoves burn much cleaner and more efficiently than older conventional stoves, but the view of the fire is just spectacular! By upgrading to a CE certified and HETAS accredited wood burning stove, you can save wood, reduce smoke and enjoy the view all winter (year!) long. It’s a great time of year now to purchase a stove, ready for next winter.
Do you offer advice regarding suitability? We can offer advice on models and suitability. We also work very closely with HETAS engineers. Our models should be installed by a local, qualified HETA engineer for safety and peace of mind. They can also provide sweeping and other services for your stove. The main thing is for customers to ask us questions, we run our stoves everyday and can tell you about that. We can give advice that you can’t find easily on the internet or in brochures. From lighting, wood to smoke control kits and zones. We also sell a wide variety of tiles for floors and walls, including mosaics, tiling tools, adhesives and tile trims.

Wirral midwife scoops ‘national’ award... to add to regional honours!
A ‘One to One’ midwife has scooped a Royal College of Midwives national award - to add to her regional trophy won last year - for her work with new mums across Wirral. Lauren Irving - who is expecting her first baby as we go to print - was awarded the national ‘Johnson’s Baby Mums’ Midwife of the Year Award’ in London for being an exceptional midwife. The award is given to an exceptional midwife who is voted as being a very special person. They possess the ability to calm the most anxious mum-to-be and provide an essential source of reassurance and support. Many mums across Wirral are now aware of the high quality service offered by ‘One to One’ midwives which is available to NHS patients. A team of midwives offer care to mums-to-be in their own home. Lauren Irving, 31, said: “I can’t believe I’ve won this national award as well I’m totally overwhelmed! Being able to support a woman throughout her whole pregnancy helps me to build up really good and trusting relationship and I love this aspect of my job. “The award shows that many mums across the Wirral are now aware of this quality service which is available to NHS patients. Our midwives are finding new mums prefer receiving midwifery care at home as it really fits in with their busy lifestyles.”
Joanne Parkington, Clinical Director for ‘One to One’ midwives in Wirral, added: “This is an excellent achievement by Lauren to win both awards.
