Seeing is believing How long has Pine and Oak been established? Pine & Oak has been established for 20 years now. We’ve been on the Champions site for Five years. Predominately, we’re a family run business, but the growing success has allowed us to employ local people. They look after the warehouse & deliver our furniture to addresses all over Wirral, Cheshire, North Wales and beyond. In addition we also employ skilled local people to assemble all furniture and ensure nothing leaves us without being 100% right.
We hear that 'seeing is believing' with the quality of your products. Tell us more. We found that putting prices on any adverts became somewhat misleading. It gave the impression that our furniture was of a low quality, when the opposite is true. All our lines stand up against anything in leading high street outlets and in most cases like for like is significantly lower in price when purchased from Pine & Oak.
You offer trade counter prices on all stock. How can you do this? By keeping our overheads at a minimum and not being greedy on our margins enables us to maintain discount prices. The Pine & Oak policy is not to inflate prices then give false discounts.
Can customers only order by coming down to your warehouse? Obviously we would love everyone to come down and visit us - seeing is believing remember?! But we understand this isn't always practical. Our website allows customers to view all of our products, order on-line and arrange delivery. It's a really easy system and is available at www.pineandoakwarehouse.com. The on line part of our business has grown steadily year on year. Although our stock is popular here on Wirral mainly due to the quality & prices we offer. In other parts of the UK these prices are just not available, hence on line ordering has become a major part of our business structure.

500g Lamb Mince / 1 Onion Chopped
1 tsp Ground Cumin / 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika Pinch Ground Cloves
1 Large Bunch Coriander Chopped / 1 Egg Vegetable Oil / 2tbsp Harrisa Paste
400g tin Chopped Tomatoes
4 Tomatoes Chopped / 400ml Chicken Stock
1 Cinnamon Stick
Using your hands mix the lamb, onion, cumin, paprika, cloves, half the coriander leaves and egg till well combined. Next form the meat into walnut sized meatballs - I made about 20, then brown them in a pan with a little oil. Remove them from the pan and add the harissa. Cook the paste for a minute then add the tomatoes, stock and cinnamon. If you snap the cinnamon stick in half it helps to release the flavour. Simmer the sauce for 15 minutes then return the meatballs and simmer for a further 20 minutes until cooked. To finish, stir through the rest of the coriander. I have served the stew with pasta but steamed cous cous, rice or mashed potato all work well with the thick rich sauce.

Give My Regards to Broadway
T
his year saw the 8th annual gala on Friday 15th June to show case the Hair, Beauty Hospitality and Catering team move to a new venue at Heswall Hall. The evening represented a culmination of work showcasing all skills that the learners have developed over their year at the College. The overall theme this year was “Give our Regards to Broadway” and the categories represented different stage shows. During the year, learners worked on their individual themes. The best were then selected for the competition, held this year at Heswall Hall. Parents, families, friends and employers enjoyed the show and watched a demonstration of skills not only in Hair and Beauty but also the Hospitality team provided a sumptuous sit down meal which was prepared and served by the students. This year, several representatives from the Governing Body and Directorate team and their guests were invited to dine as well as family and friends of the students.

For the competition part of the show, the students prepared a themed piece of work under competition rules which included Hygiene and Total Look as well as their Hair or Beauty Skills.

Most of these models have never walked down a catwalk and it can be a daunting prospect for them, especially when sometimes they are called upon to dance or showcase their work. Also, some of the outfits were quite flamboyant, and mostly made by the students to best represent their theme.
