WELCOME.

first heard about the "Faces of" concept in 2016 from a publisher out of Omaha, Nebraska. They had created a magazine that helps promote local business by featuring a "Face" of a specific business type (e.g. "Face of Architecture"). This publisher found that the publication was able to connect community members with local Omaha businesses. From there, I talked to other publishers and wanted to see how the publication was received in their markets. Overall, we found that the feedback was really great in those regions, too.

Of course, I love and will always champion the idea of promoting community. That's why in 2021, we decided to bring this concept to the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo, and Bismarck-Mandan communities. And in 2022, we continued to create this publication in those markets while also bringing the concept to Sioux Falls.

At all of our stops along the way, we have received such great feedback that we are bringing it back once again.

We hope you enjoy this publication and take the opportunity to get to know some of the people behind this thriving business community.

In 13 years, we have been able to create over 500 magazines. All of which are solely based on telling positive community stories! This is another piece to that puzzle and I truly believe you will enjoy reading about

your friends and neighbors in the ensuing pages.

This publication is considered a "native advertising piece" in the publishing industry. This means that each "Face of" is a sponsored page and paid for by that advertiser. However, this is not a "Best of" publication—it is simply a way for our community to see some of the "Faces" of respective businesses. In turn, we are connecting our readers to businesses they may not even be aware of.

By making this a sponsored magazine, we were able to produce the publication at a high quality and make 35,000 copies free to the public. Our sales and editorial teams tried to ensure that we reached out to credible "Faces" of the categories we chose. Our goal is for readers to enjoy learning more about some of the people behind the businesses that make our community thrive. Hopefully, it will create a better sense of community and also encourage more of us to shop local!

ABC Seamless & Renewal by Andersen are your friendly neighborhood experts in exteriors. They are the area’s exclusive retailer of Renewal by Andersen replacement windows and doors, as well as ABC Seamless steel siding and gutters. Their products are the highest quality available in the marketplace and are installed by their full-time, professionally trained crews. ABC Seamless has set out to change the home improvement industry. They don’t just consider themselves your contractor, but your next-door neighbor, and believe every home should

We pick up our phone, and most importantly we back the quality of our work. We know that the homeowners we work with are the same people we’re going to bump into at the grocery store or out in the community. I believe this is why we have continued to be in business for over 40 years. It’s about treating people right.”

The shortages within each of the facilities were vast and created many challenges for their respective small, rural communities. Experiencing the high staffing demands in conjunction with low resources, an idea developed around staffing for rural communities and the dream for Converdia began.

Today, Converdia carries out their mission to serve the community by recruiting and providing healthcare staff. Building relationships through excellent lines of communication is at the core of the company’s willingness

to serve. The goal is to partner with healthcare facilities to provide staff when needed to help maintain an excellent standard of care for patients/residents. The company’s footprint began in the tri-state region. It has now grown into services that impact 22 states with plans to expand into all 50. Since its inception, Converdia has been on a mission to build bridges between healthcare professionals and facilities to positively impact communities in need.

Sioux Falls was one of the ideal locations for Converdia to expand into, as it is a regional hub for healthcare with a thriving business community. “It is a central location where we can carry out the mission of the company to work with

communities in need of healthcare staffing. We are excited to be part of such a dynamic community with amazing people, incredible restaurants and entertainment, and scenic outdoor recreation,” Brian Rahman, founder of Converdia, said.

Dr. Brett Bradfield

University University of Sioux Falls

The University of Sioux Falls (USF) prides itself on providing students with transformational educational opportunities that prepare them for life, as well as a career, and that vision starts with USF President Dr. Brett Bradfield. In February 2017, Dr. Bradfield, a proven and innovative leader in Christian higher education and a familiar figure at the University of Sioux Falls, was selected to lead the University into the future. His dedication to putting students first and maintaining a rich tradition of Culture for Service that encourages students to give back to their communities, along with keeping education affordable, has allowed USF to continue to evolve its identity as a premier higher education institution in the region.

USF has over 90 academic program offerings, which include both undergraduate and graduate degrees, that span the spectrum from associate degrees to a Doctorate in Leadership. The institution's current academic programs are continually being adapted and revised for relevance and new opportunities are created to stay at the forefront of change, keeping in mind how delivery formats are progressing to reach today's learners where they are.

USF is also home to a Center for Workforce Development, through which the university has offered over 200 professional development opportunities, serving over 4,500 students pursuing both credit and noncredit-bearing experiences, leading to various credentialing. In alignment with the growing workforce needs in the region, the university has continued expansion of its already extensive adult learning footprint to serve people attempting to upskill or reskill within the current economy.

“We look to serve all students no matter their educational path. We are proud of our students and know they take both an enhanced skillset and the university’s motto of Culture for Service out into the communities they serve. USF takes pride in its prominent role in serving educational needs and contributing to workforce development in our state and region.”

Victim Services Counseling and Advocacy Team The Compass Center

erving the area since 1976, The Compass Center believes the Sioux Falls community has the power to stop violence, and it works to both educate the community and empower survivors of sexual and domestic violence.

The Compass Center provides crisis intervention, therapy, and advocacy services to children, adolescents, and adult survivors. They are dedicated to removing as many barriers as possible between a victim of violence and the resources they need to find healing. Because the number one barrier tends to be the cost associated with services, The Compass Center is committed to offering free survivor services regardless of income or insurance status.

In addition to typical one-on-one therapy, The Compass Center also offers specialized services at no additional cost. These include Play Therapy for children ages 3-12, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. They also offer a 24/7 Rape Crisis Hotline for immediate access to crisis intervention services.

Their newest program is the Little Navigators Program, which provides social skills and therapeutic support for preschool students in their existing classrooms. The tiered program meets students where they are, providing layers of increasingly intensive services based upon the child’s needs and progress. “Little Navigators is the newest face of our

prevention efforts, where we hope to prevent victimization before it happens by intervening earlier with young children, especially those with risk factors,” Executive Director Michelle Trent said.

In addition to individualized client services, The Compass Center also provides educational training to local groups. Trainings available include Safe Bars for local service industry workers, It’s Our Business for preventing harassment and violence in small to medium-sized businesses, Prison Rape Elimination Act training for correctional facility officers and staff, Bystander Intervention training, and Dating Violence/ Healthy Relationships sessions for school-aged groups and college students.

Residential real estate Sophie Daly

Hegg Realtors

Sophie Daly of Hegg Realtors is helping people in and around the area make their real estate goals a reality. For many, when it comes to making what is one of the biggest purchases in their lives, she believes educating people is the most important part of that process.

“When buying, selling, or even investing, I want clients to understand each and every step in the process. There are so many factors that play into buying and selling a home, and my core mission in real estate is serving as a resource to my clients so they can make the best decisions for themselves during any type of transaction,” Sophie said.

Daly recently added a rental property and a complete home renovation project to her plate, but real estate isn’t the only world you’ll find her spending time in. In an effort to best know the community she works in, she serves as a fill-in host on the local Sioux Falls talk show, KELOLAND Living, where she meets local business owners and community members as well as emceeing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
