From Stone to Glass. We are Ready for any Challenge

Submitted by Romeo Tarrayo and Dustin Castellarin

Flynn Manufacturing Vancouver has supplied quality unitized curtain wall frames to several projects both in the province of BC as well as in the PNW – Washington.

Each project has a new twist, it seems. Simple and typical curtain wall frames are a thing of the past.

Below, you are looking at a test frame that has been glazed with one inch stone panels for a project in Bellevue, WA called Block 5. These heavy panels have been installed into frames in place of glass units. The team lifted the frame as a final step in the test process and reported no issues - we are good to go. There have been several types of materials used in place of glass. We can think of the Terra Cota panels for 155 Water Street. Then we have massive louvers for Block 16 in Bellevue, WA. In Vancouver’s downtown core, we have 48-foot glass fins for the 1568 Alberni job. We’ve fabricated STX (tile) panels and have even put on granite panels on the exterior of Nordstrom’s. It seems that there is nothing Flynn cannot put on the façade of these structures.

So, what’s next? Did someone say – Speedwall?
