Gerhard Hörl and Bernhard Reinisch each started with a Grand Slam. All in all, it was a very nice week and all participants were able to start their journey back home being very satisfied. - 3 -
Trotzdem gab es gleich am ersten Tag einen Doppelerfolg zu berich ten. Gerhard Hörl und Bernhard Reinisch starteten gleich jeweils mit einem Grand Slam. Insgesamt war es aber eine sehr schöne Woche und alle Teilnehmer konnten zufrieden die Rückreise antreten.
Nach Cuba – Jardines de La Reina – in den Garten der Königin - hierhin sollten unsere diesjährigen Fischerei-Abenteuer – aufgeteilt auf zwei Gruppen in zwei Wochen führen. Ein gutes Gefühl, dass nun auch der zweite 50% Gutschein vom Covid Ausfall 2020 beglichen ist. Unser Plan war es, während der zwei Reisewochen einen Film über das Tar pon-Fischen zu drehen. Deshalb begleitete uns mein Freund Vaidas.
To Cuba - Jardines de La Reina - in the garden of the queen - this is where this year‘s fishing adventure should lead us - divided into two groups in two weeks. A good feeling that the second 50% voucher from the Covid failure 2020 has now been paid. Our plan was to make a film about tarpon fishing during the two weeks of travel. So my fri end Vaidas accompanied us.
Our yacht, the JA III, anchored this time in Zone A – Boca Grande. The weather conditions this time were very different from the first week. There were days with no wind at all, fishing was also very difficult then. There weren‘t any big schools on the flats as well. That‘s why we unfortunately sighted and caught significantly fewer tarpons than in the previous week. At first I thought it was a mistake going into zone A. However, it later turned out that Zone C was even worse this week. You just can‘t control the weather - in my opinion it just had to do with the change of weather. Nevertheless, there was a double success to report on the first day.
Die Teilnehmer der zweiten Gruppe reisten am 7. Mai an und mussten gleich ein schreckliches Ereignis in Havanna miterleben. Am Samstag Abend gab es im Zentrum von Havanna eine Gasexplosion im Tradi tionshotel Saratogo. Das Hotel wurde fast vollständig zerstört und es gab über 40 Tote. Zum Glück ist unserer Gruppe nichts passiert und wir konnten Havanna pünktlich mit dem Reisebus verlassen und nach Jucaro Unsereaufbrechen.Yacht,dieJA III, ankerte dieses Mal in der Zone A – Boca Gran de. Die Wetterbedingungen waren diesmal ganz anders als in der ersten Woche. Es gab Tage mit totaler Windstille, wo die Fischerei sich auch sehr schwierig gestaltete. Es waren keine großen Schulen auf den Flats. Deswegen haben wir leider wesentlich weniger Tarpons ge sichtet und gefangen als in der Vorwoche. Zuerst dachte ich, es sei ein Fehler gewesen in die Zone A zu wechseln. Später stellte sich aber heraus, dass es in Zone C in dieser Woche noch viel schlechter lief. Das Wetter hat man einfach nicht in der Hand – es hatte meiner Meinung nach einfach mit dem Wetterwechsel zu tun.
The participants of the second group arrived on May 7th and immediately witnessed a terrible event in Havana. On Saturday evening there was a gas explosion in the traditional Hotel Saratogo in the center of Havana. The hotel was almost completely destroyed and over 40 peo ple died. Luckily nothing happened to our group and we were able to leave Havana on time by coach and head to Jucaro.
