Season Two - Spring/Summer 2021
Who is Flossiphy?
The
name Flossiphy comes from a mixture of “Floss”, my childhood nickname, and the word philosophy, an important word for the basis of my life. My philosophy is to love and be loved and all the while enjoying nature. I’ve always looked at water colour art and thought: “wow, but never thought I could paint even a simple flower or leaf”. I’ve loved doing craft over my lifetime and when our family was facing some huge challenges I found that depression started to take the joy out of my crafting. I wondered if I should be spending the time doing these things but soon found out how important it is to create little pockets of joy and started painting with my kid’s old watercolour paints and brushes. It has been a really beautiful journey of discovery. I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoyed painting them. Paulene

One of our most relaxing holidays would be when we were in the Islands. Its where we discovered island time is a real thing. We loved everything about it, the soft sound of the waves, the smells of frangipani, cold ice in our drinks and being surrounded by beautiful people.

Spilt Milk Its funny how our childhood memories stick with us. I remember looking down and seeing my ice cream on the ground and just not knowing what to do next. But there were plenty more ice creams and summer fun that followed. Now berry fruit icecream would have to be my favouite and is always a treat when we go to pick fresh berries.

The day before lockdown was announced I was at a market with some of my art and was just doodling these watercolour flowers. I was really unsure about what was going to happen next for our country and the world but I just knew deep in my soul that there would be some amazing stories that would come from this adversity. Over the past year we have heard some absolutely wonderful ways people have come together to support one another and create fusion.

Little Tulip
Tiny Tim would probably tiptoe through the tulips. He and his sweetie would lay there and drink mint juleps. They would enjoy the beautiful sunshine. And he softly kissing his lady so fine. And softly stroking her hair of blond. Enjoying the colorful pretty tulips and having so much fun. Colorful Tulips © Lamar Cole

Side Swipe When I was growing up my Mum used to make a lot of our clothes and some of her own. I used to love one particular dress which looked like someone had taken a brush dipped into blue paint and just swiped it onto her white dress.

What lies amongst the underbrush of our woodland intrigues me. Life of a different tiny kind that we normally don’t see as they scuttle away into their homes is the insipiration of this range. Mushie Life
