Happy 4th of July!....

The Pride of Our Country

Let's get this started now, So it will be out there on the fourth!

Author: Roger Robicheau Today as before, our brave do fight for a land they love, a flag so right. The pride of our country, yes they are the strength of our nation, best by far. Just as our brave from each war gone by, they march for us proudly, flag held high. From all over this land they come to serve, they’re taught by the best, this they deserve. When troops give all, the world does see, whether serving on land, in the air or at sea. The pride from this country, march through war with home drawn strength, held deep in their core. Our best are so awesome, their loved ones well know, may God guide their journey where they --–for us---go. What these brave must have is support from their own, the love from their people and firm thankfulness shown. Our greatest achievement is that we’re still free, please take time and ponder who caused this to be.

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA , AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! For all of our military personnel, where ever they may be. Please Support all of the troops defending our Country.

Have a safe and wonderful 4th of July

from the Association President Dear Friends, We are always attempting new things!

Sharing our blessings is one of them.

In the past, the Association has focused on our own park. This summer we have selected “Day Star Pantry” in Dade city as a way of helping others by the collection of food for their pantry while sharing with you our activities. Memorial Day, we had Pizza, Salad, Watermelon. We played bingo and gave out $100.00 in cash prizes. We used the sheets for nickel bingo and this time “no nickels” were needed with everyone wanting to win a cash prize. In June we had another form of a card game (card bingo- no dimes needed) with refreshments and another $100.00 was given out in cash prizes. We asked everyone to bring at least 2 cans of food for Day Star Pantry. Please see our 4th of July activity on another page in this newsletter. Also in July, a middle of the week (at 10am) meet us for coffee hour and the article is also on another page in this newsletter and explains it a little. It is very important that you sign up for these activities so we can plan and have enough food. We are always looking for new things that you might enjoy. If you have any ideas, please speak to any of the officers and directors! Have a safe and Happy 4th pf July, Dot Cady

Women’s Club

On June 4th 23 Members went for a nice breakfast at Village Inn and it was very enjoyable. Mary Bolin read a thank you letter from The Abuse Women Center for our donation. There will be a box in the Clubhouse to collect School supplies for the less fortunate Kids. Please be generous. On July 2nd at 10.00. am we will be going to Sunrise Eatery in Zephryhills for breakfast and a short meeting. Happy 4th to all! Marielle _______________________________________________________ Burglaries

Dade City PD is experiencing a large increase in vehicle and storage shed burglaries. The majority of the burglaries are in the southern part of the city. The burglaries are occurring in the overnight hours and the majority of the vehicles are unlocked. Please contact the Police Department if you see any suspicious activity. So far Southfork has no reports of any of this activity.

Free but with a catch……bring at least 2 cans or more of food for the Day Star Pantry. While it is always nice to receive……it is even nicer to share our blessings! COME one, come all Southfork community, join us on this 4th of July. THE ASSOCIATION IS PROVIDING THE FRIED CHICKEN and we are asking for you to bring your FAVORITE Salad , Vegetable or a Dessert , enough to serve at least 8 people.. PLEASE SEE SIGN UP SHEET ON THE BULLETIN BOARD IN THE LOBBY OF THE CLUBHOUSE. WE MUST HAVE AN ESTIMATED COUNT SO WE HAVE ENOUGH CHICKEN FOR EVERYONE. SEE YOU ON THIS GREAT DAY!!!!!!

We will serve breakfast items such as muffins or bagels but yet to be decided! Get rid of middle of week boredom and for something different‌‌come join us and lets have coffee together!!! For all who do not like the 8am hour we are trying to satisfy all with a later get together!!!!

Please sign up at the clubhouse so we know how many food items we need to purchase.

HURRICANE SHELTER LOCATIONS HERE IN PASCO COUNTY This is something that I thought would be very helpful in case of evacuation here at Southfork if we get any signs of Hurricane Warnings. There are many other shelters in Pasco County but these are the closest to us. Special needs shelters are available for persons requiring more skilled medical care than is available in a public shelter, but not requiring an acute care facility, such as a hospital. TO REGISTER FOR THIS KIND OF SHELTER CARE, IT MUST BE MADE IN ADVANCE, PLEASE CALL THE SPECIAL NEEDS REGISTRY IN PASCO COUNTY @ 727-847-8137 Here is a list of shelters to keep handy in case we have to leave our homes!

Just some tips: Stay away from downed power lines and avoid floodwaters. Always assume that a downed power line is energized, and move away to safety. Caution: Use portable generators safely. DO NOT connect your portable generator to your home’s circuits. Also, portable generators must not be operated near air conditioning ducts or in residences or any enclosed space (including a closed garage or shed) where deadly carbon monoxide gases could build up. BE Safe AND NOT SORRY AND HEED ALL WARNINGS GIVEN!!!!!

Southfork Ambulance Program Mid-Year (2014) Report Good news, our membership is currently at 120. To date (April 1 st, 2012-June 1st,2014) we have paid out $1200.00 to our members. Our annual dues and fund raisers have allowed us to increase our coverage area to all of Pasco County. December seems a long way off, but renewal time will be here before we know it. Of course new members may join at any time. Anyone interested in a “Fruit Salad Sundae-Sunday? Jim

___________________________________________________________________ BOCCE BALL Don’t forget, we are looking for a person/persons to organize the Bocce games in the Fall.

For those who do not know anything about Bocce, it is like lawn bowling.

We are looking to form a few teams and need the help in getting this going and a potential date for when it can start. So come on everyone….a new challenge is on its way!

This is from management: When all is said and done there will be score boards, equipment, benches and hopefully sunshades over the benches for your enjoyment. Looking forward to an active season.

Meaning of family ( AnniversaryMemory of my Mom) I grew up with practical parents. A mother, God love her, who washed aluminum foil after she cooked in it, then reused it. She was the original recycle queen before they had a name for it. A father who was happier getting old shoes fixed than buying new ones. Their marriage was good, their dreams focused. Their best friends lived barely a wave away. I can see them now, Dad in trousers, tee shirt and a hat and Mom in a house dress, lawn mower in one hand, and dish-towel in the other. It was the time for fixing things. A curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things we keep. It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that re-fixing, eating, renewing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more. But then my mother died, and on that clear summer's night, in the warmth of the hospital

room, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more. Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away...never to return.. So... While we have it..... it's best we love it.... And care for it... And fix it when it's broken......... And heal it when it's sick. This is true. For marriage....... And old cars..... And dogs with bad hips.... And aging parents...... And grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it. Some things we keep. Like a best friend that moved away or a classmate we grew up with. There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special........ And so, we keep them close! Miss you Mom!!!!!
