1923

Frank L. Blum Construction is established by Frank L. Blum in Winston-Salem, NC. Blum completes its first project, a tunnel under Northwest Boulevard connecting Reynolds High School and its gymnasium.

1931

Blum Constrution builds Atkins High School, the first building in Winston-Salem to have a steel frame and unit ventilators.

1940’s

Blum acquires new construction, renovation and addition work on the Bowman Gray and Eugene Vogler residences, churches including First Baptist and Calvary Moravian, and institutions such as Hanes Hosiery, Salem College, Wachovia Bank and Piedmont Federal Savings & Loan.

1954

Founder Frank Blum passes away. Blum employees vow to carry on his legacy providing exceptional buildings across North Carolina.

1950’s

Blum builds the first women’s dormitory at Wake Forest College and the War Memorial Coliseum. Blum Construction undertakes meticulous restoration of Historic Moravian Community of Old Salem.

1960’s

Medical Park Hospital, First Federal Savings and Loan, the Science Building and Gramley Dormitory of Salem College, Vogler Funeral Home, and Reynolda Presbyterian Church are all built by Blum.

1970’s

Blum restores the Arista Cotton Mill, which was later converted into the Brookstown Inn. The new campus of the United Methodist Home on Arbor Road is built. Blum built much of the campus of the current Forsyth Country Day School.

1980’s

Blum bids its first job at NC Baptist Hospital, a new parking deck, in 1984. The former Carolina Theater is transformed into the Roger L. Stevens Center.

1990’s

The impressive list of ‘90’s projects includes the Wells Fargo Linden Center, a new Power Plant at NC Baptist Hospital, a surgical addition to Medical Park Hospital, and the renovation of the Whitaker Rehabilitation Center for Carolina Medcorp.

2000’s

Blum builds Forsyth County’s first LEED-certified building, the Headquarters of Family Services.

2010’s

Blum expands its geographic presence by opening three new offices – Greensboro in 2015, Raleigh in 2016, and Asheville in 2017.

2023

Blum celebrates its Centennial Anniversary and refreshes the logo and branding.
