Local Racer Competes for National Spotlight 2019 Winlock Egg Day Queen in AMA National Motocross Championship

Vader Washington’s, Ryden Porter just made his dream come true. The 6-year-old dirt bike racer has qualified for the largest amateur motocross race in the world, the 37th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by Lucas Oil, to be held this August at the historic Loretta Lynn Ranch. Porter took on over 22,000 hopefuls from across America to earn one of just 1,446 qualifying positions. “The Amateur National at Loretta Lynn’s is the best of the best motocrossers in America and around the world, said Tim Cotter,” Director of MX Sports. “Just being here makes you an elite racer and a top athlete. A solid finish at Loretta’s would give you

Local dairy cow gives birth to tripplets By Paul Jungclaus On May 30, a Winlock couple woke up to something that happens less than once in a lifetime. Going about their business, as usual, Ben and Linda Brown went to check on their pregnant cow, Maybelle, in the early morning. They knew she would be giving birth any day, and May 30 happened to be that
day, but beautiful newborn triplets are not what they expected. The excitement in Ben’s demeanor and voice was catching. Neighbors and friends were stopping by to see this rare event. It seems like a dreaded double headed cow is born more often than triplets. But when people hear that triplet calves were born, they are usually
surprised at first and then a little happy. After someone digests that triplets were born their first question seems to be is the heifer able to feed all three.
