Make Room By Spotlight Writer: Nkemdi Thompson Designed by Olivia Miller No one likes a spotted banana Or how quickly they turn Or the books we’ve started and haven’t finished Or the water bottle that just sits We often find ourselves in the middle of witnessing the shift from ripe to overripe, often. There’s a moment where our things hold an abundance of energy and a moment they fade. Little conviction often has an expiration date. And willpower is quite overrated Yet still, we carry the mental burden of finishing And reconciling why we won’t ever drink enough water And so on and so on And so is it - Transformation Her hand is always near Daydreaming about what it looks like to have less To say less To have enough To only make room for the things in life that sustain energy Or in other words, things you care for Though in doing so can feel small And at times, feel like not enough Only bringing new in after the old things depart. But you can only be in transformation with so much Only so much room in your carryon. Transformation is worth your attention for in return, she will Nurture your spirit Refine your conviction, and grow your compassion.
