POLLUTION: Why you need to rethink The threat from pollution is real and it is not getting any better any time soon. The consequences can range from skin irritation and sensitivities, premature aging, to organ damage and, at its worst, cancer. What you can do to protect your skin? The good news is that there are ways to protect against the damage and repair at least some of the damage caused by the harmful effects of pollution. You need to use a specialist anti-pollution facial skincare products with a unique science behind that works to stop pollution entering the pores and the product that acts as a skin barrier on the skin without clogging the pores i.e. allowing skin to breathe and without toxic unnecessary chemicals in formulations. Sadly if you do not protect the skin with the thin layer of protection you are risking an increased skin damage from pollution which will result in dry, dull skin, aging skin, discoloured skin and you will look older.

How does pollution damage your skin? Urban dust contains a cocktail of 224 toxic chemicals. These pollution particles can be up to 20 times smaller than human pores, making it very easy to enter pores.

3 simple steps to protect and restore your skin • Cleansing is a first step towards pollution free skincare. Use gently but effective facial cleanser that are suitable for your skin type. Cleansers help remove dirt, remaining make up, pollution from the skin. 160 MARCH 2018

• Pollution accelerates your natural aging process This means that you look older than your age. It is all to do with free radial damage that can lead to tissue damage and as a result you get wrinkles, loss of elasticity. You need to have a product that helps repair that damage and also protect skin from future damages i.e. your skin becomes resilient and able to deal with pollution on a daily basis. You need to be looking at facial serums and moisturising creams packed with antioxidants and adaptogens, including Niacinimanide (Vit B3) • Pollution causes Age Spots and hyperpigmentation If you have pigments on your cheeks, or your forehead sadly it is pollution induced as per recent studies conducted in Germany. Look for treatment products containing natural AHA (alpha hydrocy acids) , Beta Glucans, Lactic Acid but in a hydrating base as you do not wish to cause your skin to become extra dry. Written by Zaga Colovic founder of FOM London, first anti-pollution skincare brand in the world to address pollution induced skin aging in an award winning ANTIOXSILKtm technology. The mechanism behind this very unique science that is only available to FOM London is to not only protect the skin but to also repair skin damages caused by the harmful effects of pollution. www.fomlondonskincare.com
