BIPARJOY LASHES THE STATE

Several places in Rajasthan received heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours due to Cyclone Biparjoy, which moved further towards the desert state following its landfall in Gujarat, officials said on Saturday.

Heavy rains, floodlike situations have been reported from many parts in Barmer, following which NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed while Army is put on alert mode. BSF teams have also been deployed in many bordering villages.

In Barmer, officials informed that against the average rainfall of 380 mm during the monsoon, Barmer has recorded 1706 mm rain during the past 28 hrs. Barmer district collector Arun Purohit confirmed the report.

 The NWR on Saturday cancelled 13 trains. Rainfall in state is expected to continue till Monday.

‘Dummy Student’ found giving law exam in RU; Held

Jaipur: The Gandhi Nagar Police on Saturday arrested a dummy candidate for impersonating an actual one during the third-year law exam of Rajasthan University. Police informed that, the investigator checked the ID card and other documents of the accused and found his documents did not match with the permission letter of the actual candidate. “Law College Principal Ankita Yadav filed a police complaint,” officials said.
