Violence broke out in Junagadh Friday night over a dargah that authorities say was constructed illegally. Now, a video has emerged showing a group of men lined up and being beaten up outside the dargah in question. The video shows two men in civilian clothes with handkerchiefs tied around their faces thrashing the people lined up. One person was killed and several, including policemen, were injured in the violence that broke out outside the dargah on Friday night. The police detained 174 people who allegedly resorted to stone-pelting and vandalism outside the dargah.

STONES PELTED, COPS HURT, VEHICLES TORCHED

Junagadh: A person was killed and four policemen, including the deputy superintendent of police, were injured in Gujarat’s Junagadh after clashes broke out over a demolition notice for an “illegal” dargah. Violence erupted after the notice was served and at least 200-300 people gathered around the dargah on Friday evening, pelted stones at the police officials, vandalised a police post, and also set police vehicles on fire. The ruckus ensued when the officials of Junagadh Municipal Corporation reached in front of the Majewadi Gate to put the notice outside the dargah.

Dilbag Singh said on Saturday that continuous infiltration attempts on the Line of Control (LoC) are “part of the plan by enemies of the country to keep terrorism alive”.

Singh said this while interacting with the mediapersons on the sidelines of the Dal Lake Festival in Srinagar.

He said after a long time, people of the state are reaping the dividends of peace as children go to schools and business activities, including tourism, are going on without disruption.

“Terrorism is dying a slow death but some attempts from across the LoC are being made continuously to push in terrorists just to keep terrorism alive,” he said.
