AN ENDURING VISION: FAITH IN ACTION FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH TROY

FBC LAUNCHES “AN ENDURING VISION: FAITH IN

MORE THAN ENOUGH TO DO ALL THE WORK: EXODUS 36: 1-7

So Bezalel, Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the Lord has given skill and ability to know how to carry out all the work of constructing the sanctuary are to do the work just as the Lord has commanded.”

Then Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the Lord had given ability and who was

willing to come and do the work. They received from Moses all the offerings the Israelites had brought to carry out the work of constructing the sanctuary. And the people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning. So all the skilled workers who were doing all the work on the sanctuary left what they were doing and said to Moses, “The people are bringing more than enough

for doing the work the Lord commanded to be done.”

Then Moses gave an order and they sent this word throughout the camp: “No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary.” And so the people were restrained from bringing more, because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work.

The excitement is building! The stage is set! The renovation bid has been accepted! Prayer visits are complete! Building renovations have begun! Now is the time to launch “An Enduring Vision: Faith in Action” campaign! God has richly blessed FBC with membership and attendance growth as well as funding to keep our facilities in excellent condition. The money in trust was given to not only keep the property updated and in good working order, but also to keep FBC debt free. It is essential that we use that strong base to make needed repairs and updates to

our existing buildings. At the same time, we want to keep our financial position strong for future generations.

“The God of heaven is the one who will give us success...”
Nehemiah 2:20a.

Our pastor, Dr. Ross Lankford, and Program Director, Suzanne Taylor, are leading the campaign to raise the Hallelujah Goal of $3.5 Million to cover renovations, repairs and continued financial viability for today’s ministries and for tomorrow’s generations. In Exodus

“The Lord said to Moses: Tell the Isrealites to take for me an offering; from all whose hearts prompt them to give you shall receive the offering for me.” The prayer visits to our congregation during July indicate that our people’s hearts are excited and ready to give.

Now is the time to act!

STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBERS LEAD;

MEMBERS WILL BE ASKED TO SERVE

The church is made up of the body of believers striving to build God’s kingdom. Each member has skills, talents, gifts, expertise or experience that enables them to serve in our church. As we embark on this campaign, it is necessary to have the whole church body willing and able to serve in varying roles to help accomplish these goals. A few members have been designated to help lead in these efforts. If they contact you to serve on their team, please be willing to make the commitment. If you have a specific area in which you would like to contribute, please contact that team leader.

Dr. Ross Lankford,

It is imperative to have the shepherd of FBC Troy spearhead and lead in this effort. His influence and guidance are most valued during this time. He has already shared great commitment and excitement about what the Lord is doing in the FBC family through this campaign.

Suzanne Taylor, Program Director

The Program Director is responsible for building the organization that will tell the story of the fundraising campaign. The director provides general oversight to FBC’s An Enduring Vision: Faith in Action campaign as well as encourages the other program volunteers to engage enthusiastically in the campaign!

The prayer team initiated visits ahead of the campaign to encourage the church members to be in prayer for FBC Troy as this campaign launches. Carol formed a team that contacted members ahead of the campaign launch and will continue to serve as prayer warriors for this campaign.

Blake Diamond, Commitment Team Director

The commitment team will ensure that all members have access to a commitment card and help facilitate the collection of the cards to the financial secretary. Blake will work with team members to encourage FBC Troy family units and individuals to make commitments that embody the campaign’s motto, “equal sacrifice, not equal gifts.”

Morgan Drinkard, Promotion Director

The communication team will work to consider the most effective communication efforts are executed during the campaign to keep FBC members informed about upcoming components of the campaign. This includes special dates, print and digital communication pieces, along with special events.

Geoffrey Spann, Administrator

Geoffrey helps bridge communication between staff, church members, Sunday School teachers and the Steering Committee. He aids in administrate work for the committee and serves as secretary.

Jesus told his disciples, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).

This means as Christ’s followers, we are his light in the world by the way we worship, follow, and live for him. This includes the way we share the things God has entrusted to us. The Bible speaks of this in terms of stewardship, which every believer is called upon to participate, and which also includes generous giving to advance the gospel and meet the needs of the church.

As we embark on this journey together of “An Enduring Vision: Faith in Action” Campaign to renovate our church campus, let’s each consider the financial commitment the Lord wants us to make to see the complete renovation of our campus come to reality. We have inherited a wonderful gift in our church campus, but this also comes with a great responsibility to make sure it is at its best for God’s glory and to reach and disciple current and future generations for Christ.

So let’s join together in a strong financial commitment to finish the task of renovating our church campus, and let it be a symbol of an even larger commitment to penetrating the spiritual darkness of Troy and Pike County with the light of Christ’s love.
