FROM THE EDITOR

As early as the age of 2 years old, I remember going to Sunday School each week at my church. The engaging, one-hour session was held just before the regular morning worship service and was a valuable training session in which I gained a solid foundation in the Holy Scriptures and how to properly apply the word of God in my daily life.

Aside from the actual lessons taught by some prolific and loving teachers, one of my fondest memories that occurred in virtually every class is the singing of the classic hymn, "Everybody Ought to Know Who Jesus Is," at the start of the class. This song is still sung in many Sunday class sessions today, and its words ring truer as the years progress and time for His return nears.

Jesus is the son of God, the second in the Godhead trinity. He is more than the baby of the Virgin Mary, more than a human who walked on the earth centuries ago, a religious scholar, or a prophet. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is the only hope for the world today.

This issue aims to explore the purpose of His coming, the impact of His life, and the crucial importance of understanding why everybody ought to know who Jesus is.

Readers can become equipped with a deeper understanding of how to walk with Jesus in this world and to prepare for the world to come with features like The Way, the Truth and the Life , Navigating the Wilderness , The Coming of The King , in addition to other life application articles such as The Power of Prayer , and The Necessity of Clean Hands

As you flip and scroll through this publication, we pray that you understand the importance of the coming of Jesus Christ and the necessity of living a life that is pleasing to Him on earth to enjoy eternal life in Heaven.

This "Fired Up" magazine has me in AWE!!

REAL TALK

QAll my life, I have celebrated Christmas. Lately, I have heard that it is a pagan holiday. How should I, as a Christian, think about celebrating Christmas?

AIn its original context, the celebration of Christmas was focused on the birth of Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah. It began around 200 A.D. by early Christians while under the rule of the Roman Empire1. The pure acknowledgment of the arrival of the world's most precious gift is never a pagan act. The question lies in the shift away from the primary purpose of the celebration. The over-commercialization and usage of different materialistic imagery and activities that now occur during this season have birthed questions about paganism. However, if you adhere to the true meaning that started the tradition, it is a celebration that glorifies God. So, as a Christian, it can be a good thing to celebrate this event, the divine arrival of the world's Savior. It can also be viewed as another opportunity to witness and share the plan of salvation with others.

Q

Christmas has become so commercialized that I do not want to give or receive gifts during the Christmas season. However, I know my family will disagree with this. Am I wrong in my thinking?

AGiving gifts during Christmas has come under scrutiny today because of its association with materialism and mythical characters. In reality, the issue is not the gifts; it is more about the reason they are given. Gifts are a thoughtful means of showing love and appreciation to those we highly esteem. According to Matthew Chapter 1, after the announcement of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Magi (Three Wise Men) gave gifts (of gold, frankincense, and myrrh) to Jesus (Matthew 1:1-12). These were very precious, costly gifts that aligned with their level of expression of honor and gratitude. This act is a significant foundation in the modern-day concept that aligns with Christmas-time gift-giving. So, you must be led by your mind and heart in this matter, but there is no harm in giving a gift to show your love any time of the year.

While holiday gift-giving is being commercialized, it is our responsibility as Christians to remember the real reason for the celebration: the birth of Jesus Christ. God has given the best gift ever to the world, and though we could never match His gift, we can

show love for others through giving.

QMy child is skipping class at school because he refuses to disconnect from his cell phone and streaming services. How can I tell if my child is addicted to technology, and if he is, how should I intervene? Please help!

AParenting can be a challenging job, made even more difficult with the advent of technology. We empathize with you. While we do not have all of the answers and are not experts in this area, there is proven research that has identified the signs of technology addiction in children, which includes2: (a) avoidance of daily responsibilities, such as homework and/or chores; (b) becoming irritable, anxious, and angrily aggressive, mainly when not engaged with a device; and, (c) social isolation: avoiding face-to-face interaction with others.

As a parent, you can intervene by setting parameters for 'screen-time' use. Your child or children's adherence to the parameters should ensure a successful outcome. Also, consider developing alternative activities for children to engage in, creating device-free zones, and conducting open communication regarding screen time restrictions. While there are natural methods to intervene in this situation, let us remember there is power in prayer. When all else fails, as it has been said, take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

I John 5:14-15--And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Q

I saw a video of a minister laying hands on a blind woman, who then received her eyesight. However, critics were commenting that miracles no longer exist today. How can I tell the real from the fake?

A Miracles are defined as supernatural happenings not governed by nature or science. However, they are contingent upon a person's ability to believe in the power of a Holy God to act. Since the beginning of time, miracles have existed. The Bible further says that God set miracles in the church

(1 Corinthians 12:28). Sometimes, people experience miracles (medical/health, financial, etc.) without readily realizing it. One clear indication that a miracle has been performed is who receives the glory once it has taken place. Whenever God moves, He moves with intention. God has said in His Word, "My glory will I not give to another." So, if you see a miracle performed and humans receive the glory, then that miracle is not of God. Remember, Satan makes his ministers "ministers of righteousness" and can perform "signs and lying wonders" (2 Thessalonians 2:9). But there is no reason to believe that God is incapable of performing miracles. He has performed them time after time and declares that He changes not. Bible days are still here. We must simply have faith in God and His miraculous power.

QI eat from my favorite fast food value menu five out of seven days a week. While it is not the healthiest, it is the cheaper option. But I am now concerned about its impact on my family's health and weight. How can we eat healthier on a budget despite rising grocery prices?

AWe have all enjoyed a meal from the value menu; however, these eating habits can have a negative impact on our health in the long run. Amid rising grocery prices, families can eat healthier by doing the following: (a) setting up a grocery budget; (b) meal planning and meal-prepping; (c) checking weekly sales, using coupons and other food discounts; (d) cooking at home and avoiding excessive eating out; (e) embrace the use of frozen foods; and, (f) study meal and grocery sites, such as the US Department of Agriculture’s MyPlate site, found here: https://www.myplate. gov/

QI believe in God but am not sure about Jesus. Can I still be saved?

AGod designed a way for mankind to be saved, and that way is through Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. Jesus is God’s righteous seed and our Lord and Savior. Without God designing a plan for humanity to be saved and Jesus' sacrifice in carrying out the plan of the Father, no one would have an opportunity to be saved from our sins. Although God made it possible for us to be saved, He did not force it upon anyone. God granted us freedom and the ability to accept or deny this precious gift. Therefore, it is left up to each one of us individually to receive the gift of

salvation.

The Holy Bible clearly shows how we can be saved. The following scriptures tell us that our salvation can only be through Jesus Christ.

John 17:3

And this is life eternal: that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou have sent.

Acts 4:12

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 10:13

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

QHow can college students manage feelings of homesickness during their first semester away from home?

AFor the most part, homesickness is likened to separation anxiety. When a college student encounters this emotion, they should consider the following tips to overcome homesickness: (a) keep the lines of communication open with family members back home; (b) maintain a cheerful décor in your dorm room; (c) engage with classmates in study sessions; and (d) attend a local, Biblebased church.

DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT LIFE AND FAITH? WE'RE LISTENING! GET ANSWERS AND INSIGHTS FROM A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE!

Chosen for His Glory

What does it mean to be chosen? At some point, we all desire to be chosen—whether for a job or to be picked for a game during recess as children. To be chosen means to be selected or picked out for a specific purpose. Usually, someone is chosen because they are the best or most skilled; for example, being chosen as a basketball captain because of their talent. But God did not choose us because we were the best or because of anything we have done. He chose us because of His great love so that He may get the glory from our lives.

For God to get the glory, everything in our lives must point back to Him. He deserves the praise and the honor for everything and anything that happens to us. God has a plan to fulfill His will on earth and uses us to help accomplish it. Whether it is small acts, like being a light at work, or larger roles, like becoming a pastor, the goal is that His will is done and He is glorified.

God has set us apart to be light in a dark world and to draw others to Him. Jesus says in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Good works include showing kindness, helping others, or even simple actions like returning from lunch on time. People are watching and noticing your actions. Our deeds bring glory to God. Let your light shine so brightly that when people see you, they see Jesus in you.

Being chosen by God is an honor and privilege we do not deserve. The Bible says in Matthew 22:14, “For many are called, but few are chosen.” We may think we chose God, but Jesus says in John 15:16, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit.”

I remember working at a Christian daycare. I was selected to be a teacher for the toddlers. Teaching 2and 3-year-olds was challenging, as you can imagine, and it began to weigh on me. But God reminded me that He chose me to bring forth fruit for His glory. I started teaching the children bible verses; soon, they could recite them by heart. Their parents were so excited, and while they may not remember Ms. Kiana, God's Word will stay in their hearts, and He gets the glory!

God knows what He has called us to do before we are even born, yet we often feel inadequate. If I am honest, I had thoughts of inadequacy even while writing this. I felt unqualified to write for God, but I am thankful He reminded me through His Word that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Jesus has given me the confidence to do what He has appointed me to do. God is so faithful and is always there to encourage us.

There are numerous biblical instances where God's chosen servants felt they could not do what He had called them to do. Jeremiah, for example, felt inadequate, saying, "I am but a child." But God knows what He has placed inside of us. As Jeremiah 1:5 says, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee…" God touched Jeremiah's mouth and said He would put His words in him (Jeremiah 1:9). The best thing we can do is surrender, trust Him, and obey so that God gets the glory from our lives.

God chose Moses to lead the children of Israel out of bondage and worked many miracles through him. The Bible describes Moses as a very humble servant; as such we too must remain humble and meek before God so that He can use us. Even from childhood, God had a plan for Moses, protecting and preserving him for the day he would free His people. In the same way, God has preserved you, setting you free from sin and bringing you into His Kingdom for His purpose.

Jesus has set us apart from the world, meaning we no longer live to please the world, but to please God, the Father. This also means we must deny ourselves, our desires and aspirations, and submit to His will. It is not about us; everything we do is for the glory of God. Being chosen by God is an incredible blessing and privilege. We have special access to the Kingdom of God and, most importantly, to God Himself. He has equipped us with everything we need to fulfill His calling on our lives. Whether God has purposed us to sing, write, or preach, we must do it with all of our heart, and especially for His glory.

I Wonder Why?

I wonder why Jesus had to die In the way the Romans chose To quell the rising tumult It was expedient I suppose

But the manner in which He died Was cruel beyond compare To be nailed onto a wooden cross in pain too much to bear

It was the punishment they felt best To deter seditionist acts Yet He was no threat to their empire For He was convicted on lies and not facts

He was publically humiliated Brought to an open shame Yet prophecy must be fulfilled And by the cross He was claimed

As I thought on this, I asked God Why He died the way He had His answer was simple, but profound He said, “Sin is just that bad”

He said sin caused the separation I could no longer fellowship with man It has tainted all of my creation And interferes with My holy plan

The cross was the perfect vehicle Because it is a symbol of death and shame So He could become sin for all mankind And redemption be found in His name

As I thought upon His answer Of why the cross had to be I felt shame beyond measure For it was all because of me

His death on the cross was necessary For redemption had a high price The cross to Him meant a horrible death But the cross to us, eternal life

Why the cross? To save the lost.

Adding 2 and 2 to get 4 is as far as I could have gone with math. When the class material advanced to equations to solve 2x+8y, that is where I checked out.

Throughout my secondary school years, math was always a struggle. I remember seeing Cs, Ds, and Fs. I felt like I could never accomplish anything with math.

As I completed my undergraduate studies, I had to take a statistics class. I thought I had finished all the math I needed in secondary school. I sighed deeply but set out a goal to shoot for an A in the class. I knew my struggle, and I also knew that a greater power was living inside me.

A famous verse came to mind that I had to memorize as a child: Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

As the semester began, I quickly enrolled in supplementary classes (extra support sessions). I could complete my homework and module assignments while my professor was accessible when I needed assistance. Although my professor was a master at statistics, she would not give me all the answers without me putting in the work. I had to use my calculator. I had to wrestle with the questions to solve them. I marked up a lot of paper. It was tough.

To achieve the grades I wanted, I had to be disciplined and intentional about fulfilling the course requirements and going the extra mile necessary for my pace. Math did not come as easy to me as it did for others, which was okay. Help was still there.

There is no problem with struggling. We all have various struggles. However, as my professor was accessible to me for math help, Jesus is accessible to help us in all areas. I prayed, ‘Lord, help me with math!’

Now, Jesus will not force His help on anyone. He is there for those who want Him. You must desire to be helped to get the job done (whatever you set out to do). My professor would have known I needed assistance; she knew my grades, but I had to reach out for help myself. Like Jesus, she did not see me as a burden but was glad to contribute in some way to my success. She did not desire to see me fail but to see me get the job done.

Throughout the semester, I was in those extra support sessions. I did not allow my struggle to run me away from the help that was available to me. While other people were able to have fun, I was doing work. Did it feel good all the time? No! Did I want to be in there every session? No. But there was a goal I wanted to reach. There was an assignment to complete by the end of the semester.

It is the same way in our relationship with Christ. Do not allow your struggles to push you away from Jesus. Instead, your struggles indicate your need for Jesus'

strength. Run to Him! 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, "And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."

This passage means that when we are weak and unable to rely on our strength, Christ's power is most evident in our lives. Jesus can demonstrate His power, strength, and grace through our weaknesses. He does not want to see us fail.

Guess what? At the end of the semester, when all the grades were in for statistics, I achieved something I had never been able to accomplish: I got an A overall. I would have never imagined this happening. Jesus, discipline, and a determined mind pushed me to get it done.

I am reminded of Jesus' disciples and how He chose ordinary fishermen, a tax collector, and others from mundane professions and empowered them to do extraordinary things. Those men, like Peter, James, and John, would not have been able to spread the gospel to unknown parts of the world, lead churches, and significantly contribute to the Christian faith without Jesus.

They, too, faced many obstacles. Their lives were not untouched by the things we face today. They were just like us. They, too, had to rely on Jesus to overcome.

The way those disciples died (crucified, stoned, sawed asunder, beheaded, and so on), yet still rejoicing in the face of death, was a testament to the power of Christ's empowerment to get the job done.

Their "job" was to spread the gospel, endure persecution, and stay faithful to Christ even in the face of death. Despite their struggles, they were empowered by Jesus to complete this mission, just as I was empowered to complete my course in statistics.

Of course, we cannot forget the Apostle Paul, who, before his conversion by Jesus, was known for opposing the Christian faith. We would not have the majority of writings in the New Testament scriptures without Paul. In fact, Paul understood the necessity of Christ's strength to accomplish his earthly assignment. That is why he wrote Philippians 4:13.

Paul faced many hardships, including imprisonment, yet he found strength and peace in his relationship with Jesus. We, too, can find strength and peace in our relationship with Jesus.

Paul found joy at the end of his life, knowing he had accomplished everything Christ called him to. He said, "I have fought a good fight, finished my course, and kept the faith."

Whatever you set out to do, with the help of Jesus, you can have the power to get it done!

Imagine a stunning landscape with dry land, rough rocks, and lively animals. Many people are attracted to the beautiful mixture of colors and natural scenery, looking for amazing and memorable experiences. The Lord has created natural wonders to behold and explore, all for us to enjoy. Although many of these places are considered uninhabited regions, they are still filled with stunning sights to see and explore. The wilderness is meant for exploration but not for permanent living.

When getting ready for an adventure, we are given a pamphlet while a friendly tour guide takes us through the ‘would be backwoods’. As you walk, you discover awe-inspiring views and important lessons. It can be easy to feel lost in the wild, but following the tour guide's advice can help you find your way and bring clarity out of confusion. Similarly, there is a spiritual wilderness that we journey through, which can often seem hard to navigate. Still, we have a spiritual guide to help us in these times. Embracing this journey can lead to unforgettable experiences and a greater appreciation for the beauty all around you, both naturally and spiritually.

Wilderness of Life

Unlike tourists who flock to experience the beauty of a natural wilderness, one may encounter a spiritual wilderness that they may not find beautiful. You may wonder, "How did I get here after being on a mountaintop of joy?" These feelings can arise at any time and leave despair in their wake. They may happen a week, a day, or even within hours after experiencing joy. Yet even amid these feelings, our guide is ever-present. Throughout life, we all go through 'wildernesses' and a period where we feel confused by our circumstances (dry seasons). This ‘dry season’ sometimes happens during periods of desolation, and is a time spent walking through the valley, filled with tests and trials. However, it can also be filled with victories. Our greatest example is Jesus, who was led into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. He used the Word of God to combat the enemy's lies (Matthew 4:1-11).

Just as Jesus journeyed through the wilderness victoriously, we, too, can face our challenges and emerge victorious. The power of the Word defeated Satan, and as a result, he did not return for a time.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Our Tour Guide

A tour guide educates, leads, coordinates, and ensures the safety of the tourists. They possess knowledge and experience about the routes being taken.

From a spiritual perspective, as we journey through our ‘back country’, we must follow and listen to our ultimate guide: the Holy Spirit. We discover the right path when we seek His direction and follow His lead. Navigating this somewhat deserted terrain alone can lead to confusion and, in the worst case, to our downfall. This is not the purpose of the wilderness. Some paths may seem right to us but lead to dead ends (Proverbs 14:12). It is tempting to seek shortcuts out of the wilderness, but if we are led into it, we will be led through it.

As our example, Jesus helps us learn and gain valuable experience navigating the wilderness. A guide is essential because we often do not know how to find our way in these challenging times. Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, Jesus helps carry our burdens, acts as a healer when we become sick on our journey, and advises us on pitfalls to avoid as we traverse the ‘boondocks’. Remember, you are not alone in this journey. You have help; let Him lead and guide you.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Hold on to Your Pamphlet

A well-crafted pamphlet is a valuable tool for tourists. It displays the destination's highlights, wildlife areas, and compelling testimonials. Handed out by the tour guide before embarking on the journey, it provides essential information that enhances the travel experience. However, we possess something far more significant than a simple pamphlet: the Word of God. This divine Word acts as our compass through life’s wilderness. It illuminates our paths and helps us discern what to focus on and avoid.

Just as tourists diligently follow their pamphlets, marveling at every artifact and observing the intricate details of each creature they encounter, we are invited to delve into the Word of God. It offers profound insights and teachings that speak to our hearts, ensuring we remain attuned to His voice amidst the world's noise. This spiritual pamphlet is a collection of stories and an essential guide that helps us navigate life's challenges.

Whenwe consider the aspect of something bought or purchased for the sole purpose of being given to another, this act of love should hold a great deal of weight, especially when the recipient receives it unexpectedly!

The Natural Perspective

Have you ever expressed your love for someone to the point that you wanted to give them an extremely expensive gift that they needed, regardless of the price involved? Your designated recipient of “the gift” did not even ask you for it, but at the same time, the thought of providing this magnificent gift did not require any lengthy thought at all on your part! Your decision was solely because the intended recipient “needs” this gift, even if they have not yet become aware of how much they will benefit from it!

The Spiritual Perspective

Mankind is God’s master creation, and from the beginning of time, He loved us so much that He designed a way to bestow upon us access to eternal life. 1 Corinthians 6:20 states, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” In this passage of scripture, Apostle Paul reminded the Corinthian church that Jesus Christ paid a significant price to redeem mankind from sin; thus, we should glorify God in our bodies (our entire being). We were bought with a price because God created us as His master creation, and always intended for us to live according to His precepts. As stated in God’s Holy Word, in the beginning of time, Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, and broke fellowship with God. Their sinful acts of disobeying God and indulging in the temptations of Satan resulted in mankind's state of being slaves to sin. Therefore, mankind needed a way back to God. Sin causes guilt, shame, and degradation. God, in His infinite wisdom, offered up His only begotten Son, Jesus, to be the propitiation (atonement) for the sins of mankind. Jesus was 'the price,' and He 'paid the price' for the sins of the whole world. As such, Jesus took our place by dying on the cross to redeem us back into fellowship and right standing with God, the Father. Jesus purchased our salvation through His sacrificial substitution. Yet, this magnificent act of love for our redemption was not, nor has it been, accepted by all mankind.

Since God is omniscient, He knew that without the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the world would be condemned to an eternal abyss called hell. Because of the love of God for all of mankind, He designed a way for us to escape the damnation of sin and hell. Hell is a place of eternal suffering, torture, and separation from God. God gave us a divine treasure in the person of Jesus Christ.

God will never force any of us to accept Him or the gift of salvation He afforded us through His Son; instead, He has allowed us to make that choice for ourselves. 1 Peter 1:18-19 declares, “Forasmuch as you know that ye were

not redeemed with corruptible things, such as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

The Benefits of This Spiritual Purchase

When we accept Jesus Christ’s divine gift and the freedom from sin's bondage that salvation affords us, then we can live our lives in true liberty and true joy! We are no longer the servants (slaves) to sin and unrighteousness, including slaves to sin with which mortal men attempt to entice and bind us. Romans 6:18 says, "Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” Righteous and holy living directly aligns with the standard God requires for our lives.

Just as God offered Jesus as the mediator for the sins of the whole world, it is imperative that we willingly devote our lives to Him. Romans 12:1 states, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

By living for God, we will face challenges in this sincursed world; however, we have the Word of God (the Bible) and the Holy Spirit to guide us daily. When we accept salvation through Jesus Christ and walk in the ways of God, we earn the right to live with Jesus Christ forever in eternity after we depart from this earthly dwelling place.

Will You Reject the Price That Was Paid for You?

Naturally, when given a gift, we can reject it or accept it with great joy and then use it to its full capacity. Accepting tends to enrich our lives, especially since we have received something special for which we did not even pay. So it is with the precious endowment God granted mankind through His Son, Jesus Christ. If we choose to reject Jesus' redemptive sacrifice, then we are choosing to continue in sin and to continue transgressing the will of God for our lives. According to Proverbs 13:15b, "The way of a transgressor is hard."

We were bought at an exceedingly high price. Naturally, when most people purchase very expensive items, they tend to keep the receipt. God (and heaven) has the receipt for the purchase made through Jesus's shed blood. This receipt (or record) can never be nullified.

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, I pray you will do so before it is too late. The Bible declares in Hebrews 2:3a, "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation.”

THEKILLING FIELDS

Imagine yourself locked in a 4’ x 4’ cage; you cannot stand, lie, or sit comfortably. Now imagine someone standing outside that cage with a 3-foot dagger. They began to stab inside the cage. You can move around a little and try to use your hands as a defense, but the reality is there is no escaping. That is what an abortion looks like: A child in its mother's womb, totally defenseless to the horrific evil that is upon it. Through no fault of its own, the child is attacked, murdered, dismembered, vacuumed out of the womb, and thrown away like trash.

God, the creator of life, has fashioned the mother’s womb as a safe haven for children to enter the world. Everything needed to sustain the birth of a child has been provided inside the womb. God even chose the womb of Mary to deliver Christ to the earth.

The Numbers are Staggering

There are many historical events that the whole world sees as unimaginably horrible: events where many, many people were killed, massacred, and starved to death by the evilest of men.

Below are the names and crimes of a few:

• Pol Pot – Up to 3 million people in Cambodia from 1976-1978 were murdered by the Khmer Rouge government under Pol Pot

• Adolph Hitler – Between 1933-1945, an estimated 17 million people were murdered by the German Nazi regime led by Adolph Hitler, 6 million of which were Jews

• Last but not least, Mao Zedong – An estimated 65 million Chinese died as a result of Mao's repeated, merciless attempts to create a new ‘socialist’ China

We look at this history in total horror and ask, “how could we, as civilized humans, let this happen? How could the world let these evil men commit such heinous crimes?”

Yet, there is a massacre going on in the 21st century that pales in comparison to the crimes of Pol Pot, Hitler, and Mao. The reason is that the victims are entirely defenseless. They cannot speak, walk, or run for their lives. They cannot hide or gather large groups of people for a massive protest. They cannot lobby Congress or call a press conference to get their story out to the masses. These victims are the unborn. Although God placed them safely in their mother's womb, Satan devised a plan to attack them both inside and out. There

is a whole political party that champions this massacre.

The number of abortions in the United States (U.S.) and around the world is astounding. In the U.S., the numbers are in the millions and the billions worldwide1:

• Since Roe vs Wade (1973) – 66,279,724 and counting

• By Planned Parenthood since 1970 – 10,575,839 and counting

• Black babies since Roe vs Wade – 19,883,918 and counting*

• Worldwide since 1980 – 1,775,730,089 and counting (that’s 1 billion)

By the time this article is published, 1 million more babies will have been aborted worldwide.

When the abortion numbers in the U.S. are broken down by race, it looks like this:

• Black: 42% *note* black women are only 3% of the ovulating women in the U.S.

• White: 30%

• Hispanic: 22%

• Other: 7%

In the large urban areas in the U.S., 60% of pregnancies end in abortion.

In Cambodia, the place where the Khmer Rouge government massacred millions under Pol Pot is called "The Killing Fields." The acceptance of abortion has made the whole world The Killing Fields. While there are no mass graves, there are many dead bodies and ashes of babies in landfills all around the world.

What is an abortion?

An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. The definition for the word abort is: [to bring forth stillborn, nonviable, or premature offspring or to terminate a procedure prematurely].

The accurate description of abortion is murder, shedding innocent blood. This is why abortion is an abomination to God. (Proverbs 6:16-17)

There is no way to make abortion palatable

The word 'abortion' has a stigma these days, so the pro-abortion movement has given this practice new buzzwords such as Reproductive Rights. In the English

language, euphemisms have penetrated the zeitgeist. If a word or phrase makes people uncomfortable, they change the phrase. Below are a few examples.

• Abortion – Women’s health

• Baby – fetus

• Pro-abortion – Pro-Choice

No matter what you call it, abortion is an ugly, murderous, barbaric, anti-Christian action.

How is this dastardly deed accomplished?

There are several ways abortionists kill a child in the womb. We will discuss the two most popular ways.

In the first trimester (the first 5 to 10 weeks of pregnancy), a surgical abortion called a Surgical Abortion: Suction (Aspiration) D&C is performed). This is the most popular abortion procedure and is quite barbaric.

The second method we will discuss is called a D&E (Dilation and Evacuation) abortion. This abortion is done in the second trimester. The D&E abortion procedure is usually performed between thirteen and twenty-four weeks.

How could the world let these heinous crimes occur?

As Christians, we should always protect life. Secular society has placed abortion under the political umbrella. This allows many in the Christian community to hide behind politics and ignore the mass murder that is going on in the country and around the world. Many churches do not talk about it, and they certainly do not preach about it.

The abortion deception is that life does not begin at conception. Some theologians make this ungodly argument. However, this statement is debunked by Jeremiah 1:5: "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." The gaslighting of the church has caused many Christians to ignore the truth of the word of God to avoid offending the world. This is how evil men can commit such a heinous act without hardly any pushback.

There is a story about how a church that sat on the railroad road track next to where trains would come by carrying hundreds of Jews to the gas chambers. When the congregation would hear the moaning and groanings of the victims going to be killed, they would sing louder to drown out the cries.

In the 21st Century Church, the same actions are taking place. In minority communities, there seem to be churches on every corner. Interestingly, over 85% of all abortion clinics are in these same communities. There is little to no pushback by the churches in the minority community against these murderous clinics even though 60% of pregnancies in said community end in abortion. Blood is crying out from the ground but falling on deaf ears in many churches. They just keep singing louder.

Human life is precious to God. Anything precious to God should be precious to God’s people. Exodus 20:13 states, “Thou shalt not kill.” This should end all arguments. The Lord hates hands that shed innocent blood. Proverbs 6:17(c).

Christians have been commanded to "choose life."(Deuteronomy 30:19) It was God that took us out of our mother’s womb. (Psalm 22:9-10)

God’s Forgiveness is Everlasting

There is much deception around the abortion issue. Women are shown one side of this issue without the other side ever being revealed. Some women know exactly what is happening when they go in for an abortion. However, many women have been miseducated, indoctrinated, coerced, and deceived into getting an abortion.

Increasing research into mental health outcomes associated with abortion shows women suffer emotionally, spiritually, physically, and psychologically. The symptoms are infertility, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm. If you have had an abortion, please know that 100% forgiveness is available to you. God's forgiveness is complete; therefore, you must forgive yourself when God has forgiven you.

A Prayer of Repentance

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you with a heavy heart and in full repentance for the terrible injustice I have done by causing the death of one of Your beloved creations. I did not know the depth of pain that having an abortion would cause or the lingering guilt, shame, and utter self-loathing. I am asking for forgiveness and cleansing. Your word says that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness2. I am praying Psalm 51 over my very life. By faith, I accept once and for all my forgiveness and cleansing from this sin. I pray for other women who have had abortions and the men who have convinced women to have abortions. I pray they, too, can repent and be healed and cleansed. I pray for the men who mourn the death of their children because they, as men, had no choice in the matter. Thank You, Father, for your compassion toward me. Thank You, Jesus, that Your love for us is so great that while we were yet sinners, You died for us.3 I ask these things in the name of my wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our world is full of many prestigious and influential people. Some billionaires occupy this planet and are so wealthy that even if they gave every person on earth $5, they would still be billionaires. It is a popular belief that the more money one possesses, the more influence one has, and thus, the more power one has. However, there was a man who walked the face of the earth whom today's society would classify as poor, yet He possessed all power. A man who made the astonishing claim that “foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests,” yet He did not have a stable place even to lay His head (Matthew 8:20). He was homeless, yet He was mankind’s hero. Although He was poor and homeless by choice, His life was full of purpose. Have you guessed who this mighty but humble man is yet? You are correct, his name is Jesus Christ. Jesus avoided the limelight; however, in one particular passage in the Gospel of John (14:6), Jesus proclaims Himself to be "the way, the truth, and the life." This profound proclamation is pivotal in understanding this man: Jesus.

Jesus is not a mythical heroic figure nor a figment of a vivid imagination. He literally walked the face of this earth, and He is alive today. Just as we were born into this world, Jesus also was born of a woman. However, His birth was unlike any birth prior or after. The Almighty God favored a young virgin woman who was engaged to a righteous man and anointed her womb to carry this Jesus. This has been referred to as the virgin birth because Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost rather than through the union of a man and woman. But why was this necessary? Due to the fall of man in the garden of Eden, every person born in the similitude of our first mother and father (Adam and Eve) was born into sin and shaped in iniquity (Psalm 51:5). To bypass that sinful nature, God chose to take man out of the equation and permitted the Holy Ghost of God to overshadow Mary and give her a pure, divine, and a sinless seed. This was not a random act of happenstance; this miracle had been in the making since mankind’s inception. God cursed the serpent that

beguiled Eve and told her that the seed of the woman would bruise his head: this seed is Jesus. (Genesis 3:13-16) But still, did it take all of that? Simply put, yes! We were in bad shape, in a pitiful predicament, under an awful illusion, in a sad situation; we needed a deliverer.

Yet, the million-dollar question still remains: who is this Jesus? Jesus is the Son of God, not son, in the sense of the word as we understand it, but rather it means to be begotten of God. The Godhead is triune, which is where we derive the word trinity, which literally means three in one. Jesus is fully God and became fully man to be our redeemer. He and God are equal and one with the Holy Ghost, but He is unique in His person and work. Just as we are triune beings (soul, spirit, and body), and those three intricate qualities make up one person, it is with Jesus who was, is, and will always be. The Apostle John enlightened us in the first chapter of his Gospel about who Jesus is. John begins this chapter by saying, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." He tells us in verse 14 that "the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

God, being full of love and mercy, offered His only son as the ultimate sacrifice to redeem an unworthy people. However, for Jesus to do this, He had to satisfy specific qualifications according to ‘The law of the Redeemer’ (Leviticus 25:23-34). First, the redeemer had to be a close relative. Next, he had to be rich enough, and lastly, he had to be willing. Because Jesus satisfied all these, He is the only way to redeem mankind.

Jesus lived a full and busy life, to say the least. He did not have a Facebook or an Instagram account, but He went viral. The writers of the Gospels repeatedly expressed how Jesus’ fame spread abroad.

He did not gain fame through frivolous challenges or by posting creative content. Still, He was anointed with the Holy Ghost and went throughout the land, performing miracles of healing, deliverance, and salvation. As amazing as His miracles were, and they were amazing, His purpose was not found in the miracles. The miracles were simply a by-product of the mandate on Jesus's life. Jesus was born to die. Sounds crazy, right? That was His purpose–to lay down His life. Fortunately for us, His death was the start of life for us. In our eyes, death equals defeat; but in

actuality, Christ's death defeated death. That is worth a second read: Jesus' death defeated death! Jesus' dying defeated the consequences of sin, which is death eternal. Him laying His life down for us gave us another ‘way’ in the form of everlasting life with GOD the Father. And that way is only through Jesus. We were bound for hell; there was no hope for humanity. The gospel of Jesus Christ provides the only way to obtain forgiveness and salvation.

Many forms of the gospel are being preached today, and there are many ways that people think they can find God. Religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and many others are believed, but Christ is the only way because He is the only truth. Just as iron pyrite was mistaken for real gold, many false beliefs are mistaken for the true way. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Only through acceptance of Him as personal savior can salvation be attained (John 8:32; Acts 4:12).

As previously stated, Jesus came to die, but though He died, He also was resurrected. He rose from the dead, with power over death, hell, and the grave (Revelation 1:18; 1 Corinthians 15:57). By believing in Him, we can live victorious lives now and have everlasting life in the world to come.

Jesus is not only our savior and our redeemer, but He is our example. In a world where there are very few individuals that we can successfully pattern our lives after, we can always pattern our lives after the life of Jesus Christ. He was a meek, loving, and caring person. He had compassion on crowds of people, so much so that (on one occasion) He went to great lengths to feed them

with only a young lad's lunch. He never turned anyone away. Even when a woman who was caught in the act of adultery was brought to Him, unlike His counterparts, He did not embarrass her or shun her. Instead, He gave her grace and sent her away with hope. We ought to lead a life as inspiring as this. The Apostle Peter shares with us (1 Peter 2:21-23) that Christ lived a life “leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps:” Jesus Christ showed us how to deal with persecution and ridicule, He showed us how to be compassionate and loving. He was an example of mercy and grace, but ultimately, He was an example of holiness. The Apostle Peter continues, telling us that Jesus was a man “Who did no sin, neither was guile [deception] found in His mouth: Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to him that judgeth righteously.” What an example to follow!

Jesus is our way out of a pointless, meaningless, and superfluous existence into a fulfilling, purposeful, and vibrant life here on earth and in the world to come. As we sojourn through this life, we need a compass, a roadmap, and a guide to help us differentiate fallacies and deception from truth–Jesus is the truth. Following Jesus will never lead us down a path of unrighteousness, deception, or death. Being born does not merit a fulfilling nor purposeful life; but rather, life cannot be experienced fully until we have been born again. Having a relationship with Christ opens life up to us, not because only He can give us life–He is life. Knowing who Jesus is in a personal way will drastically change your life for the better and offer a reward far greater than anything received here on earth.

Have you ever started a job and been told that everything you do from now on represents your company? I have had this experience, and I initially thought they were being too controlling about my offthe-clock activities. I prayed and asked God to help me better understand what they meant. After thinking about my relationship with Him, I realized I exemplify Him everywhere, not just at church. My mind immediately went to Ephesians 6:20, "For which I am an ambassador in bonds…" This reminded me that I am charged with being an ambassador of God in every aspect of my life. As I began to dig deeper into this, I contemplated, ‘How am I a living vessel of God? What does a representative of God look like? How does my human illustration of God affect the world?’

How am I representing God?

As I have matured in my journey with Christ, I have come to understand that everything I do, say, and think reflects God. Recently, I attended a seminar led by Pastor Dianne Cooper, of Petersburg, Virginia, entitled "What Type of Cupcake Are You?" This seminar prompted me to reflect on every person I have encountered and helped me recognize that even my smallest actions could displease God, if not handled properly. The words of Jesus came to mind when he stated, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men" (Matthew 5:13). This verse reminds me that living a life that dishonors Him renders any claim of representation meaningless. Contrarily, to truly be a model of God, one must first know Him.

What does a representative of God look like?

As Christians, our character should be a reflection of God. In His Word, He has given us the outline of who He is. 1 John 1:5 tells us, "This then is the message which

we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all." God defines Himself and who He is, teaching us how we should be. As a result, we are living epistles who are exemplary of Him, in word and deed. For we know that to model the character of God, we must die to ourselves. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." The new you in Christ is the reflection of God the world needs! We must mirror ourselves daily in God's Word to ensure we align with who He says He is. God is a Holy God, so we must also be holy.

How does my representation of God affect the world?

Did you know that people are constantly watching you? Allow me to be the one to tell you: they truly are! Since you might be the only representation of God that people encounter, how will they perceive you? How do you see yourself in the Word of God? I ask God every day to search me thoroughly, inside and out, because I do not want people to see me and say, "If that is how a child of God is, I do not want to be one."

I realize that my human illustration of God can either draw people to Him or turn people away from Him. Ephesians 2:10 declares, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” As agents of God, people are always watching us; therefore, misrepresenting Him can cause people to misunderstand God and His character. Through all of this, I have learned that to be God's representative, I must walk in the way He walked, showing compassion, love, and truth to others. It is essential that I consistently display a godly character in my life. Ultimately, my life should reflect His image.

Prayer is a beacon of hope and strength in a fastpaced world of constant noise and distractions. It opens up the perfect opportunity to connect with the One who has all power, Jesus Christ. Prayer changes things and is so powerful that it can transform people and their lives. Throughout this article, we will delve into the depths of what prayer is, who and how one can pray, and the effects of prayer in a Christian's daily life.

The best form of communication with God is prayer, which helps to establish a personal relationship with Him. Through prayer, Christians seek God's will, blessings, forgiveness, and so much more. Understanding how to pray to God and who can pray to Him is essential. Various scriptures in the Bible explain prayer and the prayers that God honors. Many people are not aware that God does not hear or attend to just anyone's prayers. John 9:31 says, "Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God and doeth His will, him He heareth." Before connecting with Jesus, one must ensure one's heart is in the right place. Praying a prayer of sincere repentance is a good start to establishing a strong connection and relationship with God. Afterward, one can go to God about anything, and He listens.

Many Christians pray different types of prayers, depending on the situation and the need. Generally, in most prayers, people give thanks and adoration to God before asking Him for anything. Then, they make their requests known to God for themselves or on someone else's behalf.

Prayer has positive and powerful effects on people's lives. Through prayer, Christians find strength in times of

adversity, comfort in moments of despair, and hope in the face of uncertainty. Prayer has the power to heal any disease, to deliver people from any sin, and the power to do the impossible. There are a plethora of stories in the Bible about the power of prayer. However, one of the many miracles that happened because of prayer is in Daniel chapter 6. As it says, Daniel had "an excellent spirit". He was a man with great character and was holy. He began to face adversity when a law was put in place that for 30 days, no one could ask a petition of any God except the king, or they would be "cast into the den of lions." Daniel did not let that deter him, he continued to pray three times a day, risking his life. When he was eventually thrown into the lions' den, the Lord sent an angel to shut the lion's mouths so they would not hurt him. In the end, Daniel leaves the den untouched. From this story in the Bible, we can take comfort in knowing that if we stay prayerful no matter what we are faced with in life, God will take care of us.

God wants us to come to Him with faith, believing that what we ask, He will do. It is important to remember that nothing is too hard for God. Anyone who desires a change in their life can expect God to respond. Praying to Christ for that change is a great start. God wants us to talk to Him daily and include Him in our everyday lives. Luke 18:1 says, "Men ought always to pray, and not to faint." Come to the Lord in prayer, no matter how big or small the problem may be. Prayer nourishes the soul and is a powerful tool for spiritual growth. The proper prayer can protect us from danger, heal our bodies, give us the strength to make it through each day, and endure our trials. As we cultivate a habit of prayer in our daily lives, may we find solace in the presence of Jesus and experience the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Jesus: The Balm in Gilead

When I was a child, my grandmother had several home remedies. It was something passed down from her mother and previous generations. As a kid, one of the best feelings in the world was having a grandmother soothe you when you hurt yourself. Usually, my hurt occurred while playing outside in the yard. Whether it was a scrape on the knee or a typical mosquito bite, it seemed grandmother had the answer to all our childhood ailments. I remember how she would put a salve on our scrapes. It might sting, but it would clean the wound so that healing could take place. Fast forward to my adult years, there have been some hurts I have endured that have affected me physically, mentally, and even emotionally. How do I deal with it all? Jesus Christ is the answer. He is my balm in Gilead. He fixes every hurt and calms my fears. Like my grandmother's salve, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, can soothe every pain I encounter in life.

Balm in Gilead

The phrase balm in Gilead is referenced in the Bible. Jeremiah 8:22 states, "Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?"

Jeremiah metaphorically inquired about a solution to his people's sins and unrighteous ways in this passage. In their days, balms were used for medicinal purposes. Typically, these balms were comprised of herbs and were administered by a medicine man or wise woman in their villages.1

Spiritually speaking, Jeremiah knew his people needed a remedy for the sin in their lives. Likewise, people in today's world still need a balm or salve that will remedy their sin sickness. Once this balm is applied, healing and deliverance can and will take place. God loves us so much that He did not want us to be left without a way to be delivered from sin. Since sin was never a part of God's master plan for mankind, He provided a way for us to be freed from the immediate and eternal ramifications of a sinful nature.

Healing from Sin and Sickness

Who can heal us of all our diseases? Jesus Christ is His name. Jesus, the son of God, was born into this world to save humanity from sin and eternal damnation. (John 3:16) Just as God desires us to be free from sin, He also wants us to be well in our bodies, souls, and minds. Christ's sacrifice on the

cross has made it possible for us to be made whole in all aspects.

I Peter 2:24 says, "Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Throughout Jesus’ ministry here on earth, He healed countless people of their illnesses and diseases. A popular Biblical instance is the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5). This woman endured terrible sickness for 12 years. I can only imagine the despair she may have felt. She was extremely ill, and no physician could cure her. Then, one day, “When she had heard of Jesus, she came in the press behind, and touched His garment. For she said, If I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole." (Mark 5:27-28) This woman's faith resulted in her being free of her illness and made whole by Jesus. This biblical account of Jesus Christ's authority over sickness and infirmity is still widely referenced and preached in churches worldwide. It has been the basis for many modernday miracle healings because of her story.

If you find you are in a place where you need to be made whole from your sin, sickness, or both, I encourage you to believe in Jesus Christ. His sole purpose in being born into the world to die on Calvary's cross is so that you could be saved and delivered from the degradation of sin and its shame. Because He sacrificed His life for us, we do not have to live with sickness. "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5) Just like I was able to benefit from my grandmother's salve for my physical wounds, I have benefited even more so from the healing power of Jesus Christ. Because I applied the word of God to my heart and mind, the healing balm took effect and transformed me.

Jesus is that balm in Gilead, “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases” (Psalm 103:3)

Blur red Lines

In today’s times, trends and fads change often. In a world where social media is the gateway to the newest fashion, slang, and hot topics, it is difficult not to get swept away by it all. Trying to keep up with the latest catchphrases and online challenges quickly becoming popular to the masses seems to be the norm. In the grand scheme of things, it is human nature to want to fit in and go with the flow. The question is, does fitting in always work for the believer? What happens when fitting in or following a trend goes against the holiness of God?

What is a Trend?

Trends encompass a wide range of things, from fashion to lifestyles and ways of living. Social media sites and news articles are all about what is trending in society. It is all about what is popular at that point in time. The flaw is that many of them do not stick around for long. Today, it is popular to wear colored contacts. After spending your money on five different colors of contacts to fit in, the trend switches to different eyeglass styles. There is no stability in following trends because they are constantly changing with the wind.

Popularity vs. Purpose

The sole purpose of the believer's life is to please God and point people back to the cross. This means that the things we choose to do may not always be popular or trending. The conflict between popularity and purpose reflects a call to prioritize God's mission above worldly approval. Popularity often seeks to gratify oneself, appealing to the admiration of others. But purpose aligns with a higher calling rooted in glorifying God, and serving His kingdom. Does what is popular always bring glory to God? Is it helping build the kingdom? Does it edify you in any way? 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." The purpose of the believer is explained in the passage mentioned above, and we must ask ourselves these questions before signing on to trends.

Let us take a look at Jesus, our example in all things. His life and ministry certainly drew crowds, but His focus was never on popularity. Instead, His focus was on His purpose being fulfilled. He reminds us in His Word that being faithful to God's purpose may mean being rejected or even hated by

the world. St. John 15:18-19 urges us to remember that if the world hates us, then we know that it hated Jesus first. This passage also says something very sobering. If you were of the world, the world would love his own, but because you are chosen and not of the world, the world hates you. Popularity and fitting in are not even meant to be options for the believer. Standing out and shedding light on darkness should be the focus.

Trendy or Holy?

Beyond the believer's purpose, we must be holy in all things. 1 Peter 1:16 says, "Be ye holy, for I am holy," which is a nonnegotiable command from God. Some trends, such as the 100 Envelope Challenge, may be harmless. It encourages good stewardship and saving money. At the same time, other trends go against the holiness of God, such as worshiping rocks, crystals, and the universe. We live in a time when influencers and content creators are a hot commodity. People can get paid to influence the masses to follow certain trends. While extra money may be made through these endeavors, think: how much money is compromising to support certain trends worth (e.g., wearing scantily clad clothing or dancing to vulgar secular music) to get views? We cannot be hasty in following every trend and fad that crosses our timeline, news headlines, or TV.

Everything should be filtered through the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. Before getting involved, ask how does God feel about it? What does His Word say concerning the matter? We are often tempted to follow conviction alone, but our hearts are deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. (Jeremiah 17:9-10) We cannot always go by what we feel is okay to do. The Holy Spirit is a teacher and guide that we should acknowledge in all our ways. By adhering to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are always choosing what is holy and upright above being popular and fitting in. The lines are blurred when we want to fit in more than we want to please God and be holy. While all trends are not unholy, we must remember that there is a line that cannot be crossed. Someone is always watching the life that we are living. The only Bible some people may read could be the social media post you make or the outfit you wear out of the door today. While it may be trendy… above all, make sure it is holy!

Dear Readers,

You are about to step into a story like no other—a story that has shaped nations, inspired generations, and carried truth for over 2,000 years. I do not say this lightly. It is not a tale spun from imagination or an allegory crafted to entertain. It is a steadfast and unchanging truth experienced by many, even today.

Some parts of the story may seem mind-boggling, even miraculous, but I assure you, every word is true. Prepare your heart as you journey back to a time and place where heaven touched earth in the most extraordinary way. For it is the Christmas story!

Our story begins in the quiet town of Nazareth, a modest village nestled among the hills of Galilee. Here lives a young woman named Mary, whose life seems simple yet full of promise.

As the day fades and shadows stretch across the humble streets, Mary retires to her small, tidy room. The day's tasks have left her weary, and as she lies down,

thoughts of her future with her betrothed, Joseph, drift through her mind. In her culture, Betrothal is not a mere engagement but a solemn and binding contract—she is already as good as married, though the final ceremony is still ahead.

Her eyelids grow heavy as sleep begins to befall her. But suddenly, the quiet is shattered. A radiant light fills the room, more brilliant than the noonday sun. The walls tremble as if touched by the hand of God Himself. Mary bolts upright, her heart racing. Panic grips her as her wide eyes fall upon a figure standing at the foot of her bed.

It is a man, but not like any man she has ever seen. His presence is otherworldly, cloaked in a celestial glow that radiates peace and power. Before she can cry out, he speaks:

“Hail, thou art highly favored! The Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women.”

The words hang in the air like a song, yet Mary feels her

fear mounting. Who is this? How did he get in here? What does he mean by such strange and exalted words? The man, sensing her terror, softens his tone.

“Fear not, Mary,” he says gently, “for thou hast found favor with God. And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a Son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest. The Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David, and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of His kingdom, there shall be no end.”

The room falls silent once more, but Mary’s thoughts are anything but still. Her mind races to make sense of what she has heard. A Son? The Son of the Highest? The throne of David? These words echo prophecies she has known since childhood—prophecies of the Messiah. But how could this be? How could she, a young virgin, fulfill such a divine promise?

Her voice trembles as she finally speaks. “How shall this be,” she asks, “seeing I know not a man?”

The question is not one of doubt but of wonder. Yes, she is betrothed to Joseph, but they are not yet married. She has kept herself pure, as custom and faith demand. How could such a miracle unfold? The figure smiles—a warm, knowing smile that seems to carry the weight of eternity. “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,” he explains, “and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

Mary listens, her fear giving way to a quiet awe. The messenger introduces himself as Gabriel, an angel sent from God Himself. As he speaks, Mary begins to feel the enormity of the moment pressing upon her heart. Yet she does not resist. She does not run. Instead, she bows her head and replies with simple, profound faith:

“Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.”

And with that, the angel departs, leaving Mary alone in the stillness of her room. But her heart is no longer troubled. It is filled with a peace that passes understanding, for she knows now that she has been chosen to play a part in God’s greatest plan.

Unbeknownst to her, the world is on the brink of a miracle—one that will change the course of history forever.

In a single moment, Mary’s life changed forever. Just yesterday, she was an ordinary girl from Nazareth, but now she shall carry the Savior of the world—the prophesied Messiah. Her heart raced with one pressing question: How will I tell Joseph?

Joseph was a man of integrity and had a deep love for Mary. When she revealed she was pregnant without knowing a man, his heart wrenched. Conflicted and pained, he pondered quietly, "I am not willing to make

her a public example; I will put her away privily." Yet, his thoughts did not go unnoticed.

That night, troubled and seeking rest, Joseph dreamed of an angel. The angel said, "Joseph, Son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for what is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. She will bear a Son named JESUS, who will save His people from their sins."

Awakening with clarity, Joseph understood the divine plan. Inspired by the prophecy of Isaiah, he embraced his role in God's design. Filled with purpose, he sought out Mary to marry her, his doubts replaced by faith and love.

Joseph and Mary accepted their roles in a miraculous story, united by trust in God’s promise. Their journey had just begun, destined to bless the whole world. Due to these circumstances and the time of taxation, they realized they had to leave Nazareth. So even though Mary was great with child, the journey to the little town of Bethlehem was necessary.

With the time of her delivery rapidly approaching, Joseph sought for a place for her to deliver the child safely and found an inn in the city.

He knocked and knocked until the keeper of the inn came to the door. "Please, sir, my wife and I need a place to stay for the night," he desperately says. But there was no room in the inn.

Knowing that the time had come for her to deliver the Savior of the world, Joseph had to act quickly to find a place for her and the babe to lay their heads. He found a stable with a manger that the baby could rest in.

While such a spectacular happening occurred, on the other side of the city, in the dark of night, with the land quiet and still, a light shone bright enough in the sky for shepherds to notice.

And suddenly, an angel now appeared before them with a great light and all the glory of heaven shining around him. And they were very afraid.

“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”

As they looked up, they were amazed to see all of heaven opened and a multitude of angels singing, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men."

Astonished at the miraculous sight, the shepherds journeyed to the city to see the Savior born in Bethlehem. They found the baby in a stable manger wrapped in grave clothes.

Amazing! The Savior of the world, birthed in the most humbling way, wrapped in grave clothes. God's own

Whenone attends a defensive driving class, one learns many practical things about safe driving. You are taught to avoid excessive speed, following too close behind other cars, and road hazards that can cause accidents. Those who drive professionally must go through such classes to achieve and/or maintain their ability to drive for their respective companies. These instructional settings may include classroom, video, and practice driving to acquire or maintain certification to drive for these companies. They emphasize several points in defensive driving, such as road and weather conditions, distracted driving, and checking to ensure the vehicle is in proper working order. These instructional methods also discuss the driving habits of others, along with ways to protect yourself in adverse situations. I have found much of what is taught about driving is also good instruction for life. One of the ideologies that they subscribe to is, 'leave yourself an out.' This means that while you are driving, be aware of your surroundings and make sure that in the case of an emergency, you have a clear direction to go in to avoid an accident. We drive on roads that are not exclusive to us (they are not private), and others drive around us. Since we cannot control what others are doing in their cars while driving, we have to make sure there is a direction to go in if they do something unexpected. In essence, you need a plan of escape every second you are on the road driving.

Are you really safe at home?

In today's society, doing many things from the comfort of our homes is possible. Because of the COVID pandemic, many companies have allowed their workers to work remotely, eliminating the need to drive to work. We now have home delivery of just about anything you desire. Everything from groceries to restaurant food, clothing to cars can come right to your door. Even doctor's visits can be done by phone or online. Although all these conveniences are available to us, it does not preclude the need for an escape plan because even in our homes, danger can arise. Fire departments stress that every home should have an escape plan in case of fire. School districts periodically have drills for fire and now for active shooters who may come on campus. In each case the goal is for people to survive and get to safety. We cannot always see or know where the danger is, but preparation is the key to survival.

What is good for the natural is equally good for the spiritual

We all want to live safe, long, and happy lives, and we take steps to make that happen. From security systems in our homes to the anti-lock brakes on our cars, we try to ensure our future. However, no matter what precautions we take, the unexpected can intrude upon our lives and (just as quickly) end our lives. That begs the question: what then? Indeed, we all know that we cannot, and will not, live forever on this earth, and we must prepare for this eventuality. Hebrews 9:27 tells us, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die..."So, we all will die, but is that the end? The rest of this scripture says, "but after this the judgment," so death is not the end; something comes after. No matter what culture you

hail from or what belief system you embrace, there is a recurring theme in most. That theme is that something is waiting on the other side of death. Those of us who call ourselves Christians believe that beyond death, there is an opportunity for life eternal with God and an eternal damnation separated from God. Whether you believe it or not, it does not negate the truth of the first part of this scripture: we all die. So, if the first part is true, the last is also. With this in mind, it behooves us to make sure that we have an escape plan to avoid the judgment that awaits us on the other side. That way of escape can only be found in Jesus Christ.

The only way of escape

There are 4,300 to 10,000 known religions worldwide, with Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and Christianity being the five major groups. In Christianity, there are more than 45,000 denominations in the world, with 200 being in the United States. What this entails is that the ways that are believed to avoid judgment are many and varied. Yet there is only one way that is given to men to escape the judgment to come: Jesus Christ. "Neither is there in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Jesus is the only way of escape.

Claiming Christianity does not guarantee escape

Every escape plan requires specific steps to ensure success. Once the plan is put in place, it must be followed precisely. As previously stated, there are numerous denominations within so-called Christianity, and many tend to cater to the desires of men and not the word of God.

The gospel message has been altered to fit what people want, not what God requires us to do. The message of salvation that Jesus preached was pure and without duplicity. It requires confession and repentance. Confess that we are sinners first and foremost; repent and cease to sin. You cannot modify the plan and expect to get favorable results. Only by following the precepts of the Bible can we hope to escape the wrath ordained for all who reject God's plan of escape. One of the wonderful things about Christ's escape plan is that it also applies to the challenges we face every day. I Corinthians 10:13 tells us that our daily trials will not overwhelm us because God has provided escape routes even in these. There are some terrible things on the horizon for this world, but God has provided us with the perfect escape before it comes (the rapture or the catching away of those who serve Him). This is another appointment that God has set that you can read about in I Corinthians 15:51-52 and I Thessalonians 4:16-17. The escape plan is in place; all that is missing is your acceptance.

Crossroads: Right At The Fork

Few things are certainties in life; among them are crossroads. The term crossroad may sound foreign, but it is where everyone will surely arrive. A crossroads is a crucial point, especially when a decision must be made. Yet it is more important than deciding what cereal you should buy; it has a deeper meaning. As young people, we are constantly pressured to compromise our standards or face the consequences. We may be tasked with an assignment that goes against our beliefs at school. We could do the work and risk offending God or refuse to do it and accept a negative grade. Each person has and will face a crossroads. How do you choose the right road?

The two roads presented can represent life or death, good or evil. Life brings situations that force us to make decisions. Some will be life-altering and can either benefit or damage our spiritual well-being. Some paths have instant consequences or effects that come over time, and some last a lifetime. The consequences can be spiritual or natural and much more serious than it may seem; a lot is at stake. So, when contemplating which route to take in life, you must refer to the Word of God to see which path will align with what the Lord demands. There are many times when you are away from your parents and guardians and are out of their view: at school, away at college, work, or a friend's house. One thing to keep in mind is that God is with you everywhere you go; not even the dark can hide you from Him. He sees you even when no one else can. Before you act, think: “Will this please God?” Proverbs 15:3 says, "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good."

It may seem difficult for you to choose because some roads may not seem wrong to venture down, but they can hinder your spiritual growth. When deciding which direction to take, it is imperative not to lean to your own understanding and do what you feel is okay. Asking God for His direction will ensure you make the right decision. Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Should you go to that event? What kind of activities will everyone be involved in; are they ungodly? If the event is in a sinful atmosphere, it will be best to stay away. For example, attending a party with those who do wrong things and try to pressure you to participate. Other examples are environments where

there will be smoking, vaping, drugs and concerts where secular artists will be performing ungodly songs. Participating in such activities will not be a wise decision; you should listen to and participate in things that uplift you spiritually. You may say that you are grown and can do what you want, as was Jesus, but He was still obedient to the Father's will.

You can liken crossroads to driving. You may be learning to drive, already a pro, or just interested in the idea. When you are driving somewhere, you may come to a crossroad, fork, or interchange. The two roads will take you in two completely different directions. You have to choose the right one to get to your destination. Choosing the wrong roads will never allow you to reach your goal. It is the same when encountering spiritual crossroads. You must choose the right way to avoid heading down the wrong path. Sometimes, after you get on the wrong highway, it is not easy to exit and get on the right one.

Sometimes, you must drive several miles before you can find an exit. There is a risk of making the wrong choice; there is no guarantee that you will have the opportunity to get back on the right path. When figuring out where to go while driving, you may use an app (or GPS) that can give you directions. Similarly, the Bible is your spiritual GPS (Godly Positioning System). It will tell you where you are, where you are heading, and which direction you must take to reach your eternal destination. Isaiah 30:21 says, "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left." If you need to know where to go but refuse to listen to godly instructions, expecting a positive result is pointless. Ask God to direct you and follow His ways.

Perhaps you have recently encountered a crossroads and now realize you made the wrong choice. It is not too late. You can make a U-turn and get back on the right road. You may find yourself at a crossroads now. Remember to compare your options against what God's Word says to determine which one aligns with God's will. Trust Jesus to be your guide. He will always lead you in the right direction. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Religion

Animpressive palace stretches over 828,000 acres of lush terrain, showcasing exquisite gardens and striking sculptures that elevate its grandeur. With 775 distinct rooms, this architectural marvel is a magnificent residence for dedicated butlers who skillfully attend to the royal family's needs.

When we think of a butler, the refined image often depicted in films and television comes to mind: formal attire and an exemplary demeanor define the role. However, being a butler is not just about the image; it is about a deep commitment and dedication. It requires high sophistication and meticulous attention to detail, especially within a royal household. The path to becoming an accomplished butler is paved with rigorous training that includes a comprehensive understanding of palace management and an unwavering commitment to hygienic standards.

Among these hygienic practices, handwashing is paramount, playing a crucial role in protecting the butlers' health and environment. Effective handwashing is essential for eradicating harmful bacteria that can lead to respiratory infections and illnesses.

The butler's dedication to proper hand washing to prevent diseases is comparable to cleanliness. Just as a butler must adhere to hygienic protocols to stop the spread of disease, living a righteous life ensures one is free from sin. Sin is like a disease that has plagued mankind since Adam and Eve first committed it in the Garden of Eden. It has reached epidemic proportions as man has progressed through time. It has caused us to be impure and has separated us from God.

God has called us to be clean and pure, as articulated in Ephesians 5:26-27: “That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word; that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

Through the words of Jesus Christ, we cannot only obtain salvation, but we can maintain purity as well. Psalm 24:3-5 powerfully states, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in His holy place? He that hath clean hands and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

To have clean hands means to live free from sin and not engage in things that can lead to sin. When we possess clean hands, we are not only fit to enter the presence of God but also receive His abundant rewards. As articulated in Psalm 18:20, "The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanliness of my hands hath He recompensed me.” Clean hands are not just a requirement for our relationship with Christ, but they also ensure we receive all the rewards found only in salvation.

Maintaining clean hands is essential if we want to be pleasing to God. Much like devoted butlers, we must yield in our commitment to God, upholding righteousness and having clean hands through Christ.

Navigating

The Wilderness (Continued from page 12)

By engaging with the Word of God, we can draw upon testimonies of triumph, understand our purpose, and find encouragement in times of chaos. Its wisdom is crucial for a successful spiritual journey, leading to a deeply enriching experience that shapes us for the better.

Watch Out for the Snake

Imagine being on an excursion when someone abruptly interrupts, shouting contradictory messages. It can be quite disorienting. In like manner, throughout this journey, we encounter an adversary, Satan. As the voice of deception, he opposes the truth of Jesus Christ.

The enemy's primary objective is to distract us from the crucial lessons we must learn in the wilderness and tempt us to abandon our path. Deception often leads one to make emotional decisions that close their eyes to critical warning signs. This can result in our spiritual demise as we turn back, misled by lies. We must remain vigilant and anchored in the truth.

The Word of God informs us about our enemy, equipping us to resist his tactics by walking in truth. After the enemy's outbursts, Jesus will always stand by us, encouraging us to keep our eyes on Him. Stay focused, for the enemy flees when we resist his deceptions after we submit ourselves to God (James 4:7). Only Jesus can guide us through this wilderness—not the enemy.

Grab Your Souvenir

As the tour ends, the guide will begin asking questions and highlighting key significant points from the experience. We may not realize that today or tomorrow could mark the end of our wilderness journey. However,

Jesus will provide us with questions and reflections when we start reviewing the lessons as testimonies rather than questioning the reasons behind our tests. These are your souvenirs.

As we reflect on our journeys, let us take a moment to thank Jesus for His example and the Holy Spirit for His unwavering guidance through the wilderness. We are grateful for His provisions, the healing He offers, and the paths He illuminates. Truth be told, you have successfully navigated past challenges and are now equipped to conquer future wildernesses also. No matter the trials you face, hold onto your faith. Remember, if you are in a seemingly hopeless situation, you can always seek Jesus' support. He is eager to help you through your struggles. In every obstacle you encounter, trust that He will assist you and lead you to brighter days ahead.

Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

The Coming of The King (Continued from page 28)

Son! Here among humanity—as a babe.

Later, wise men from the east came to the palace, unintentionally stirring an evil in King Herod the Tetrarch. They had come seeking the true King of the Jews, a king far greater than he could imagine.

A malevolent spirit was green and growing in Herod's bosom, fostering murderous and blood-thirsty thoughts: thoughts he is more than willing to put into action.

Springing into action, he calls the chief priests and scribes into a meeting, seeking the validity of these wise men’s declaration. Herod becomes increasingly disturbed as these priests and scribes read to him a prophecy written long ago. A desperate Herod devised a plan to uncover the whereabouts of this new King of the Jews. He tells the wise men, "Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also." Unfortunately, worship had nothing to do with his plan.

These wise men leave with intentions pure as the clearest river with treasures in their hands. Looking for the star and following it, they find the sweetest child in the house, surrounded by His mother and father.

They present to the newborn King: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. All gifts fit for a king, prophesied by the prophet Isaiah.

And they, receiving a warning from God not to return to Herod, departed to go to their own country.

Later that night, as all things quiet down, the child lies

peacefully as sleep falls heavily on his eyes. Mary and Joseph are exhausted from the day, and the little family starts to sleep.

That night, the angel of the Lord appears again to Joseph in a dream, but this time with a warning: “Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.”

Joseph woke up with urgency, rousing Mary and the child Jesus. Under the cover of night, the small family began their journey to Egypt, seeking refuge from the wrath of a jealous king.

Herod’s fury boiled over when the wise men did not return. Feeling mocked, he unleashed his rage on Bethlehem, ordering the massacre of all children two years old and younger. The cries of grieving parents echoed through the night.

But even as Herod’s evil spread, the true King was hidden safely in Egypt. Unbeknownst to men, Christ Jesus, growing in knowledge, strength, and grace, would one day save the world!

CALL TO Salvation Salvation

Dear friend,

Inside every person's heart, there is a void we try to fill with the pleasures of this world.

However, in reality, that void can only be filled by God. He wants to give you a life filled with joy, hope, and peace that the world cannot provide. Come to God. He welcomes you in with open arms. In John 6:37, the Bible says “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." God loves you so much that He sent His only Son to die for you. Even if you were the only person on Earth, Jesus would have still died for you so that you may live with Him forever. That is just how much He loves you! If you are ready to surrender all and give your life to God, then say this prayer:

Prayer:

God, I am sorry for everything I have done in my life that was not like you. I repent of all my sins. I believe in my heart and confess out of my mouth that Jesus is Lord. I believe He died for my sins and rose again on the third day. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Save me and fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

It is just that simple! The Bible states in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." Now that you have repented, God has given you a new heart filled with His joy and peace. Go forward and live according to Psalm 63:8. Follow hard after God. Welcome to your new life in Christ!
