FROM THE EDITOR

Have you ever placed an ounce of dirt in a cup of purified water? What happened? Would you then refer to it as clean, pure drinking water? Or would you refrain from ingesting its contents and describe it as polluted, unclean, unsafe, and unqualified for human consumption?
In this scenario, what if you replace the dirt with societal trends and ungodly beliefs and the water with the Christian church community? Would it then be ready for spiritual consumption and use?
The world is injecting things into God's hallowed spaces, such as the church because it has become drunk with the ways of the world and its culture. This is reminiscent of those living in the days of Noah before the flood in Genesis Chapter 6 and Lot's wife in Genesis Chapter 19, both of which are reminders of the consequences. Because of these occurrences, God sent his judgment upon the Earth.
There is unrest in the land, a rumbling in the Earth, and constant fulfillment of the biblical prophetic signs of the end times unfolding before our very eyes. The true church is seemingly in steep competition with the church world. As the church world becomes enamored with the world's culture and society to the point of questioning or ignoring the true word of God, the true church must maintain its responsibility to our Creator and His word.
Is God preparing to judge the nation and the world? Are you prepared for the next great happening? This issue aims to unveil how the word of God will be critical to both the ungodly and the Christian's survival of the world's next dilemma. It features articles like The Anatomy of Today's Church, The Days of Noah, Refine Your Shine, and others, all aimed at equipping you with the knowledge and understanding you need to survive.
As true Christians, we do not have to fear the end but ensure that the spiritual man is ready. We must be firm in our understanding that the Bible is the roadmap. If we follow the Bible precisely and apply its principles correctly, we will lead humanity away from damnation and toward eternal life with Christ.
As you flip, scroll, and read through this publication, we pray that you will be made aware of the importance of being prepared for the Lord's coming.

REAL TALK
QHow can you save yourself when you are so deep in sin?
A First, you must understand that you cannot save yourself. Jesus taught in Luke 9:24 that "whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it." Sin is not like falling into a bottomless pit whereby, through strenuous effort, you can climb yourself out. The complete corruption of the soul is displayed in selfish, selfgratifying behavior. Sin is a disease of the heart that no earthly medication can cure, and therefore, deliverance must come from someone who can purge your soul and change your heart, and that person is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only remedy for sin because he lived a perfect life of obedience to God's will and died representing our sins on the cross because the wages or payment for sin is death, according to Romans 6:23. God honors this sacrifice and declares that if sinners turn away from their sin in desiring forgiveness and trust in Jesus' death on the cross, they shall be saved. Romans 10:9-10 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." So, do not try to save yourself; instead, turn from all wickedness and place your belief and trust in Jesus, who can save you from sin and make you righteous before God. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Why attempt to save yourself when someone has already done it for you? Only believe!
QIf I profess to be a Christian, does what I do or say really matter?
AEverything matters! Now, more than ever, every action counts. We must be shining lights, pointing people to Jesus. However, it is not enough to talk about it; our actions must show that we have indeed changed because of salvation through
Jesus Christ. As Paul wrote, "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). As Christians, our old selves should fade, replaced by visible change. People often judge us by how we live, not just by what we say. That's why the saying "actions speak louder than words" is still so true. If we say we follow Jesus, our actions and words should show it. Even in how we talk, we should show that we're living new lives because of Jesus, just like Ephesians 4:29 teaches. Even if someone never reads the Bible or goes to church, our lives should be like books people can read, guiding them to Jesus and salvation (2 Corinthians 3:2). St. Francis of Assisi said, "Preach the gospel at all times. If necessary, use words." Our conduct and character contribute significantly to us having an effective witness.
QI just received news that I have a terminal illness and have only days to live. I am a believer. How can I hold on to my faith after learning that I do not have long to live?
AO LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! [even] cry out unto thee [of] violence, and thou wilt not save! (Habakkuk 1:2)
Your faith is at a disadvantage because it is being challenged. In actuality, it is your faith that will enable you to overcome.
In the Bible, a King named Hezekiah fell gravely ill. God told the prophet Isaiah to tell Hezekiah that he would not recover and he should set his house in order, as he was going to die. We read that God added fifteen more years to the life of King Hezekiah after he prayed. This event is recorded in 2 Kings 20:1-6, Isaiah 38, and 2 Chronicles 32. Hezekiah prayed earnestly to God, reminding Him of his faithful service and devotion. Moved by Hezekiah's prayer and tears, God sent Isaiah back to Hezekiah to tell him that He would heal him and add fifteen years to his life.
God also provided a miraculous sign by making the shadow on the sundial of Ahaz go back ten steps to confirm His promise.
There are many accounts in scripture of God's power over death. These events were recorded to build our faith and know we serve a God who can heal all our diseases. I know this may be one the most challenging things you have faced or will ever face, but I admonish you to hold on to what you know to be true: God's power and love for you.
QI am considering proposing to a young woman with whom I am madly in love, but I am a little scared. How can I know that she is the right one?
ACongratulations! Proverbs 18:22 says, "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD." Marriage is a beautiful thing, and you are doing the right thing by wanting to make sure you have made the right decision before "popping the question." However, the quest to find the "right" spouse starts before one is ready to pop the question, even before courtship. When you believe that you are spiritually, financially, and mentally prepared to be married, and you have found someone who you are attracted to before approaching her, you entreat God. Many times, this is done out of order. We will approach her under the guise of forming a friendship, see if she is compatible, then seek God. Unfortunately, this creates a lot of heartbreak for both parties once they have invested time and emotions into a relationship, only to discover they are incompatible. Instead, seek God AND wait on Him to speak. God will give both of you assurance if you are moving in the right direction. God will not tell you one thing and her another. If you did it out of order, do not despair. Both of you should take the time to seek Him now. Wait patiently for Him to speak, and more importantly, trust His answer.
QI really need help. Since the school year, I have received two phone calls from my daughter's school that she is smoking marijuana vapes. She continues to do this after counseling and talking with her numerous times. Please help!
ASometimes, as believers, there may be a tendency to seek a natural application
for a spiritual problem. God has given us spiritual and natural capabilities; we must be clear about which should be selected in any situation. In Matthew 17:1421 when the man brought his son to Jesus' disciples, they could not cast the devil out. But when the man petitioned Jesus, he was able to cast the devil out at the same hour. When the disciples inquired of Jesus why they could not cast the devil out, he let them know that the type of devil they were facing would only come out by prayer and fasting. Prayer and fasting are supernatural weapons God has made accessible to his children when natural means fail. It is not the vaping that is the root issue, but rather the unclean spirit that influences a person to any unrighteous act. When believers activate the weapons God has given them (prayer, fasting, and His Word), the devil is powerless to stand, and nothing shall be impossible for the righteous. Use the tools that God has given you in unwavering faith, and watch Him honor your actions.

QREAL TALK
I hear many Christians using profanity at work. As a newly saved Christian, I am confused. Is this behavior okay for Christians? Am I being too judgmental?
AThe use of profanity is never the prescribed method of Christian communication. There is a difference in the speech of a Christian and a non-Christian. A few scriptures immediately come to mind. “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?” (James 3:10-11)
”Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” (Ephesians 4:29). Our speech should always point towards Christ and his love for the lost. Our responsibility is to ensure that our conduct does not blend in with this world but rather the conduct of the kingdom of God.

In today’s social media fame, where people can become overnight viral sensations, it is evident that many believe being a leader or someone of high notoriety is easier said than done. With easy access to social media platforms, people can portray themselves as equally or even more important than the next person. However, becoming a leader of an organization, company, ministry, family, or the like is an incredible responsibility and should not be taken lightly.
There are several traits a leader should possess to be successful, no matter what capacity they serve. It is common for people to get caught up in their leadership positions and not truly understand how
to possess effective leadership qualities. But it is crucial for those you lead to be aware of your impact on those who follow you.
A leader leads or commands a group, organization, or country. While this description is quite simple, the responsibility of leadership is very complex. Leadership is not just saying you are the boss; it comes with a massive weight of obligations. Effective leadership means understanding the assignment and doing everything within your ability to handle it with care, precision, and wisdom. The measure of this is how well the leader motivates and impacts those within their authority. On the other hand, the ineffective leader does not create a diplomatic work environment where everyone can feel welcome to contribute and collaborate to accomplish the end goal. This leadership style is very harmful and can create issues within the organization. The late famed American football coach Vince Lombardi once
“Leadership is an action, not a position.” - Donald McGannon, former American broadcasting industry executive.
said, “Leadership is not just one quality, but rather a blend of many qualities. And while no one individual possesses all of the talents that are needed for leadership, each man can develop a combination that can make him a leader. Contrary to the opinion of many, leaders are not born; they are made. And they are made by hard effort, which is the price we must all pay for success.”
Leaders are responsible for several aspects of being at the forefront of their group or organization. First, they have the arduous task of being a visionary. They must envision the whole picture of their group or organization while leading their followers toward that vision. Also, they must mentor and teach their followers every function in their organization so that tasks and responsibilities are shared. Delegating tasks is essential so the organization’s weight is not solely on the leader. Being a leader also means correcting others and keeping everyone aligned with the organization’s mission. Lastly, those in leadership must always protect their constituents. They must be able to watch for possible threats and issues that may arise within the organization and eradicate those threats.
One of the greatest leaders of all time was Jesus Christ. Jesus is God’s son, the creator of the entire world. While on this Earth, Jesus understood His assignment: to save humanity from its sins and subsequent eternal damnation. He became a leader of His followers, who were called disciples. While carrying out His earthly
mission, Jesus possessed six powerful leadership attributes: excellent listening skills, a servant mentality, emotional intelligence, delegation skills, stewardship, and wisdom to know when to be silent. (Epperhart, Billy, June 2021)
Jesus not only listened to God’s voice, but He obeyed His Father. He knew He must be accountable to a higher authority to effectively lead His disciples and impact the world as God intended. Jesus was a servant leader. He led by example. He told His disciples in Matthew 23:11, “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” And Jesus did just that; He served. He did not seek fame or fortune but did good to all He encountered. Jesus also knew how to create boundaries. He only allowed a few people in His inner circle because He knew what His Kingdom assignment was and had a set time to accomplish it. Furthermore, Jesus knew how to delegate the assignment to His disciples. He taught by word and demonstrated how to evangelize the world so the disciples would be well-equipped once Jesus returned to His heavenly home. If anyone knew how to exemplify proper stewardship, it was Jesus. He did not let anything get in His way of carrying out His God-given mission and expects us to be a good steward of every resource God has given us. Lastly, Jesus knew how to be silent despite the busyness of life and ministry. Jesus knew how to still Himself, and He made time to have solitude with God and stay in tune with His voice.

ARE YOU STRONG ENOUGH CONVICTION IN CHRIST?
BY: AUNDIA D. ROGERS

Is your conviction strong enough to maintain your faithfulness to God? How do you stay strong and firm in your beliefs concerning the cause of Christ? A life of conviction in Christ necessitates consistent study, obedience, commitment to biblical teachings, and a desire to pursue God’s will.
Faith in Christ produces strength and makes us responsible for our beliefs. Remaining strong spiritually and overcoming temptations and obstacles are crucial. 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 states that it is vital to fight temptation; thus, we must avoid falling victim to sin.
You may encounter adversities, including resistance from family or coworkers when you abstain from all appearances of evil. Refraining from ungodly conversations that involve perverse, crude, or profane jargon are examples of what we should do to uphold the command found in 1 Thessalonians 5:22. You must live a chaste life, directed by God’s Word and following His standards of holiness, if you want to sustain your spiritual vitality!
Our basis for spiritual fortitude should be contingent on trusting God to lead and guide us on the path of salvation. We must maintain a steadfast posture of prayer, fasting, and regular church attendance to receive encouragement
from other Christians and learn how to live out God’s Word. We must maintain a strong prayer life and a godly support system to have a solid spiritual foundation and to sustain our conviction in Christ.
The Apostle Paul, inspired by the Spirit of God, commands us to put on the new man made in righteousness and holiness, according to Ephesians 4:24. We must be steadfast in the Lord and unwavering in our commitment to Him. Withstanding the allure of sin to maintain our integrity serves as a testimony to Christ. We must overcome obstacles with Paul's audacity.
Hebrews 10:39 tells us that we are the people who believe to the saving of the soul, not those who draw back and are destroyed. We are encouraged in 2 Corinthians 6:17 to boldly say “NO” to the world and distance ourselves from it! God’s Word gives us the confidence to withstand temptation and reject its pleasures. When the Spirit of God empowers us, we emerge from such temptations. Will you fight, or will you fold?
Remember, if you keep Christ at the core of your heart and the forefront of your mind, the risk of being eternally separated from God will NEVER be an option!

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it Matthew 7:13 - 14.
Narrow means being limited in size or scope. According to Scripture, the strait (narrow) way is a path that not many take. It requires a lifestyle of separation from worldly mindsets and sinful behavior. Holy living and sanctification are the standards of God for entrance into His kingdom. Not only must you be born again, but you must continue to follow Christ’s example. Because the road is narrow, everything will not fit, nor is it befitting for travel. It is an exclusive thoroughfare where only those wholly committed to Christ may traverse.
Pack light but carefully.
When you travel, you must pack according to your destination. I have been told that I tend to pack a lot when I travel; my resolve is that I never want to lack anything. I would rather be prepared. For the narrow road, this mindset is a good one to have. On the contrary, overpacking things can hinder one’s ability to move quickly when necessary. Though not harmful, many things we add to our lives can become hindrances. We must remember that all things are lawful, but not all are expedient (1 Corinthians 10:23). I may possess it, but is it necessary for me to have it? Will it lead me to entrance into the kingdom of God, or will it impede my progress? As we continue to travel, we are guided on what, and in some cases, who to let go of to continue to abide on the narrow road.
When traveling, we encounter various types of roads. We see freeways, multi-lane streets, and two-lane highways. The freeways have multiple lanes to accommodate many drivers, while the two-lane highway only allows one car in each direction. Because of its limitations, the two-lane highway usually has fewer distractions. In contrast, the multi-lane freeway is filled with billboards, restaurant signs, and many other things that can be distracting.

Christian persecution is happening in the North, South, East, and West of the United States of America (U.S.).
More than 70 million Christians have been martyred in the course of history.4 Over half were martyred in the 20th century under communist and fascist governments. (Gordon-Conwell Resources) According to the 2021 World Watch List, [more than 340 million Christians now suffer high levels of persecution for their faith—even for simply reading the Bible—representing 1-in-8 Christians worldwide, 1-in-6 in Africa, 2-out-of-5 in Asia, and 1-in-12 in Latin America.5 In other words, on average, every day, 13 Christians worldwide are killed because of their faith. Every day, 12 churches or Christian buildings are attacked. Every day, 12 Christians are unjustly arrested, detained, or imprisoned, and every day, 5 Christians are abducted for faithrelated reasons].
What is persecution? [The act or practice of persecuting; the infliction of pain, punishment, or death upon others unjustly, particularly for adhering to a religious creed or mode of worship, either by way of penalty or for compelling them to renounce their principles. Historians enumerate ten persecutions suffered by the Christians, beginning with that of Nero].6
Over the years, the Christian community in the United States has taken solace in the fact that freedom of religion is a right that should not be infringed upon. Why? Because the Constitution of the United States guarantees the freedom of religion to its citizens. The First Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Jeremiah 12:5 "If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses?"
Because of the great blessings Christians in the
Manycultures spoke of the world ending:

BY: PAS1
The ancient Egyptians, Greeks, American Indians, Mayans, and Scandinavians all believed that, at some point, the world would come to an end. Their stories about how the world would end vary, from the tales of Ragnarok (believed to be the last battle by the Nordic people) to the world being swallowed up by a universal sea (believed by the Egyptians and Greeks). Whatever the culture, the narrative was the same: man’s time on Earth had ended. I have brought in these other cultural beliefs to show that the idea that our time on Earth was limited has always been ingrained in man. According to an article in Wikipedia¹ in 2012 (List of dates predicted for apocalyptic events), 20% of those polled in 20 countries believe they are living in the last days of our world. In an article published by The Pew Research Center on December 8, 2022, 39% of the people in the United States believe the same thing.2 So, the belief in the world ending is not exclusive to Christian believers, but is it true?
Do you believe it or not?
As we look at our world and the challenges we are experiencing, many fear that we are on a collision course with self-destruction. Whether from a world war that spawns devastation and nuclear winter or an asteroid strike that does much the same, some feel cataclysmic doom is on the horizon. The question is, do you believe it or not? If you are of the Christian faith, you probably believe that at some point, God is going to end our world with the return of Christ. Those of other religions or those who do not believe in God would have a different
opinion. For the sake of this article, I will focus on the parallels between what the Bible says will happen and the things we are experiencing in our world today.
Is technology a harbinger of the end?
When we consider the many prophecies in the Bible about the end of time, some appear to be mystical or magical. Science fiction writer Arthur C. Clark once penned in his book, “Profiles of the Future (An Inquiry into the Limits of the Possible), “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Although Mr. Clark was a writer who merely expressed his thoughts on the subject, his words had an aura of truth. The things recorded by the prophet back then would have been perceived based on the technological knowledge of the times. So many things predicted in the Bible that would have seemed fantastical to them are commonplace today.
What does the Bible say about the end time?
And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, “Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and the end of the
world?” (Matthew 24:3) These words were part of a conversation between Jesus and His disciples over two thousand years ago. The question was asked because Jesus had told them about the future destruction of the temple. Jesus gives them a discourse on what shall come before His return. By what He told them, the signs seem clear: We are close to the last days, and the Lord’s return is imminent. Many of the signs recorded in the Bible signify the final days of this world and appear to be prevalent today. The things mentioned in Matthew 24 by Jesus are just the tip of the iceberg (so to speak). Wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes in diverse places, and nations rising against nations are well-documented signs. He spoke of those things that we can point to whether we believe in the Bible or not. Besides the wars between Russia and Ukraine and Israel and Hamas, there are more than 45 armed conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa. There are rumors of a brewing conflict between China and Taiwan, and North Korea is a constant threat. There is unrest in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar,

and even the Philippines. Add to that the tensions between political parties in the United States, and we see the words of Jesus poignantly coming to pass. (The Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights https://www. geneva-academy.ch/galleries/today-s-armedconflicts)
Signs in Nature?
Peter spoke in Acts 2:17-20 of particular signs in the heavens and the Earth. Blood, fire, and vapors of smoke were three of the things he mentioned. Many of us are unfamiliar with Red Tide, but it is increasing—an abundance of microscopic algae in the water forms red tide. The proliferation of this algae can produce toxins that kill fish and other marine life. The algae cause the water to turn reddish, hence the name “Red Tide.” In Florida, Red Tide has become a problem; they are plagued by it almost every year in late summer and early fall. (Inside Climate News, January 19, 2022)³. Some might argue that Red Tide and Blood are different,

but there would be little difference if someone saw it from Peter’s perspective. Fires and vapors of smoke would seem to go hand in hand. Fire is not something out of the ordinary, but wildfires are on the rise. The number of wildfires doubled between 1984 and 2015. (Center for climate and energy solutions)⁴ In March of this year, a wildfire raged in Texas that burned an area larger than the state of Rhode Island. The smoke from this fire covered a large area of the northern part of the state.
Signs in the heavens?
The moon turning to blood and the sun turning dark is also based upon Peter’s perspective. We know that eclipses are natural occurrences but are still God’s handiwork. A “Blood Moon” occurs when the Earth blocks the sun’s rays on the moon, causing a lunar eclipse. When this happens, it takes on a reddish color resembling blood. Total solar eclipses are a rare sight and were viewed in ancient times as a sign of wrath from the gods. A solar eclipse occurred on April 8, 2024, covering a large swath of the continental United States. Millions of people (including myself) got a chance to see it. It was as if the sun had turned black for about four minutes, and darkness covered the land.
Climate change?
In II Peter 3:10-12, the Bible mentions that “the elements shall melt with a fervent heat.” Climate.gov reports that since 1850, the
combined land and ocean temperature has steadily increased by 0.11 degrees Fahrenheit, jumping to 0.36 F per decade since 1982. Because of the rising temperatures, hurricanes have increased since 1980. (globalchange.gov) NASA has reported that Antarctica loses 150 billion tons of ice mass yearly. That, along with Greenland losing 270 billion tons a year, has increased ocean level (climate.nasa. gov). This, along with the tsunamis caused by earthquakes and hurricanes, has caused a change in the shoreline of several places.
Another effect of rising temperatures is that thunderstorms have become more robust, causing floods and mudslides. It is suspected that the number of tornadoes spawned by these storms has increased, but the data is inconclusive. (National Geographic’s: Tornadoes and Global Warming, Is there a connection: Christina Nunez October 19, 2023.)⁴ Society blames it on Greenhouse gasses that are destroying the ozone layer, which may be true.⁴ However, in Peter’s time, he could not have known the cause, just that it would happen. Is it a sign? You be the judge.
Earthquakes:
Earthquakes were another of the signs mentioned by Jesus that would come upon the Earth before His return. According to Quantectum.com, 15,600 earthquakes were detected in 2023. Nineteen of these seismic

events reached a magnitude of 7.0 or higher on the Richter scale (which is the energy equivalent of 32 Hiroshima atom bombs), 128 that were between 6.0 and 6.9, and 1,637 that registered between 5.0 and 5.9. In the Book of Isaiah, chapter 24, God speaks of judgment upon the land, and in verse 20, He says, “The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard.” We know earthquakes are usually caused by the shifting of the tectonic plates upon which the Earth’s crust sits. So, many would call this just a coincidence. If it is just coincidence, it is congruent with Isaiah’s prophecy. Whether this shaking is caused by continental drift, volcanic eruption, or fracking to extract oil and natural gas deposits, it is in concert with what Jesus said would happen.
Israel: God’s clock
Before I go on, I must give you a fact that supports the assertion that these are the last days. That fact is that Israel is a nation once more. In AD 70, the Roman legions destroyed the city of Jerusalem and scattered all the people of Israel throughout the known world. After that, Israel had ceased to be a nation with a country. Though they were dispersed, the people held on to their heritage, believing that one day, they would return to their homeland. On May 15, 1948, the people of Israel were given back their ancestral lands and became a nation again. Jesus spoke of this happening in Matthew 24:32-34 when he spoke of the “parable of the fig tree.” Israel’s return marked the beginning of the last generation. Everything He said in Matthew 24 would be fulfilled before this generation passed away.
What is on the horizon?
The list of things Jesus said in Matthew 24 would be happening before his coming is more extensive than I have time to write about in this article (You should read Matthew 24 for yourself). Yet there are a few things I want to mention. The Bible says that there is a world leader on the way who will dominate everyone. He will come in with flattering lips to win him support (Daniel 11:21), and the world will flock to him as a savior. He will cause all to take the mark of his name on their forehead or hand to buy or sell anything. He will turn out to be a tyrant who will cause many deaths and lead
the world to ultimate destruction (Revelation 13:118). This is discussed in the Book of Revelation, which many may feel sounds like a science fiction story. John, the author of the Book of Revelation, could only write the things he was shown based on his understanding of technology at the time. He knew nothing of microchips implanted under the skin, crypto-currency, or even the satellite technology that allows us to see what is happening worldwide. The world had to catch up to the things John wrote about, and with the advent of AI (Artificial Intelligence), all things seem to be in place. Many who read this article will try to find a way to rationalize and explain away the correlation between the things the Bible has said would happen and today’s world. That, of course, is your prerogative. Some of you might even say that a Jewish generation is only forty years old, and Israel has been restored for more than forty years. To that, may I suggest you read II Peter 3:39? Because a generation does not end until the last child born to it dies, and the children born in 1948 should be approaching 76 years old now—just food for thought. I think Jesus said it best, “Let no man deceive you” (Matthew 24:4); what has been foretold is a foregone conclusion. Do you believe it? I do.

In the natural order of things, we cover something or someone in several ways. To cover means something that protects, shelters, or guards. For example, car covers protect a vehicle from different weather conditions. Umbrellas protect a person from the rain or the sun. A house roof covers and shelters a family inside from elements on the outside, such as animals or severe weather conditions. Just as these coverings provide physical protection, assurance, and comfort, some also have emotional coverings. Have you heard of Linus in the Peanuts series by Charles Schultz? Linus used his blanket as his weapon, but it was also a form of comfort for him. Just like Linus, we all look to things or people to provide that security and reassurance.
Furthermore, God is our ultimate covering. God protects us. According to Psalms 91:1, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." As a believer, having a life of communion with God provides constant protection from our spiritual enemy. God shelters us. The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 61:3, "For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy." A shelter protects or shields from something harmful, especially terrible weather. A strong tower was a central place in ancient cities where people could run to face danger and find safety and protection. We can run to God, who provides a place in him where we are safe from the will of the enemy and shelter from the storms of life.
In addition, God provided us with a spiritual
covering here on earth. A spiritual covering can be a pastor, an elder, or a mentor. A spiritual covering is someone who protects and provides spiritual comfort. Watching over your soul and providing spiritual and natural guidance and counsel are benefits of having a spiritual covering.
They protect and guard you from spiritual pitfalls and attacks set by the enemy. The danger of not having a spiritual covering is that you fall prey to the tactics of the devil. This means there is no spiritual guidance and counsel to protect you from Satan. Many have departed from their spiritual covering with a mindset, "I can do it on my own."
The problem with this mindset is that it leaves you to your own devices, ultimately destroying you.
The Bible says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (Proverbs 14:12). Choosing your way over God's way is saying that you know better than God. Many have determined they do not need someone to cover them spiritually, but the Bible says, "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?" (Romans 10:14). There is a purpose to the preacher. God sends them to preach the word so those who hear will come into the knowledge and understanding of God.
In contrast, some people seek and desire a spiritual covering but are unsure who that should be. God
said in Jeremiah 3:15, "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. God promised he would give you a pastor, a spiritual covering whose sole purpose is to nourish you in knowledge and understanding. God desires you to have all you need to live this Christian life successfully.
Overall, a spiritual covering is beneficial to our spiritual well-being. Walking away
from our spiritual covering leaves us uncovered and unprotected. This gives the devil an opportunity to destroy our souls, making us candidates for Hell. We should not give the enemy any chance to cause us to miss Heaven. Abandon your way and follow God's way.

Whenwe think of the word “church,” it usually brings to mind an edifice or building where people congregate to worship a deity. Most often, it is the Christian deity or God that we associate with it. Other belief systems (some older, some younger) besides Christianity gather together to worship their god or gods, but they do not use the word church for their edifices. When asked, "What is a church?” most would answer that it is a building where people worship, which is a true statement for the most part. However, when we ask, "What is the church?" the answer is very different. The Church, simply put, is a called-out group of baptized believers in Jesus Christ. Although many people see it as an organization, it is really an organism, a living thing. It is the growing and maturing “body of Christ." Its purpose is to represent God's love, drawing and converting others to come to know Christ in a personal way. The church's mission is to win the lost back to God. Somewhere along the way, however, the mission has changed for many.
A good start does not guarantee a strong continuance.
The church that began in Jerusalem on the “Day of Pentecost" grew rapidly. Many were added in those first weeks and months, and all believed the same. As time progressed, some issues arose because some did not agree with the apostles' doctrine. The purity of Christ's message was mixed with the opinions of man, which caused divisions and strife among the believers. These same conditions exist today, so the church is not what it was at its beginning. When we look at Christian churches today, we see a myriad of denominations and doctrines. The fundamental truth that Christ preached is challenged by many who say they serve him, and the “body” suffers because of it. Some readers might argue that the church is not suffering but growing, and these are merely growing pains. Then, let us clinically examine the body according to its foundation (the Bible) and see if this is so.
The body is beautiful, every part and its function.
Romans 12:4-5 reads, “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and members one of another." Our bodies are made up of many organs that work in conjunction to keep us healthy and alive. All are part of the whole and dependent upon each other. If one organ malfunctions, it affects all the others. The Church (as the body of Christ) works the same way; each person performs a function that is vital
to the rest. No one is unimportant. Everything must work as designed to fulfill Christ’s mandate (Mark 16:15). Some things that come into our natural bodies can affect them negatively; the same is true for the church. When a foreign agent enters the body, it can disrupt its normal function, acting as a carcinogen (cancer-causing agent). It can become a mutation that alters the body or hinders growth. It appears this is the case with many churches when we observe how they present Christ.
Divisions in the church are nothing new. As previously stated, over the centuries, divisions in the church among its members arose, yet this is nothing new. The apostle Paul dealt with the same things in his day in the church at Corinth (I Corinthians 1:10-13). The Corinthian divisions were based upon the preference of ministers, but the division in today's church is based upon doctrine. The doctrine we preach and believe must be biblically based and true to what Christ preached. To deviate from it is to weaken the church and allow the forces of darkness to enter the body. Our organs work together to maintain life and need the nutrients that keep the body healthy. The body of Christ is no different; what we consume (accept and allow) determines its health.
A
well-kept body, but full of impurities.
There are literally tens of thousands of denominations within what is called the Christian church.1 The edifices get more beautiful and grander; however, the message (with many) becomes impure. They adapt the scriptures to coincide with what makes people comfortable, compromising the health of the body. The standard that the early church upheld (God's holiness) has been altered to appease the masses. They have bowed to society and modified the teachings of the Bible in the name of political correctness. Because the body is polluted, it is made ineffective in the task it is to perform.
The body has been mutated.
The scriptures say that “Christ is the head of the church: and the savior of the body” (Ephesians 5:23), so the body should be as he is: holy. Yet what we see in many so-called churches is a mutation of Christ. The word "mutation" means altering or modifying something so that it is changed from what it should be. Because of this, it does not function as it should and can lead to the death of the body. The Book of Revelation was addressed initially to The Seven Churches in Asia Minor (Revelation 1:16-20) to address their works. Each church, except Laodicea, was commended for

some of their works. Five were reproved for their actions or inaction. The warning He gave to them still applies to today’s church. It is incumbent upon us who call ourselves Christians to ensure we are functioning in the body as we should. Otherwise, we are not the church; instead, we are a mutated version of the church.
The body fits jointly together, the members in particular.
As stated, the Church is made up of different parts, just like our natural bodies. Although we have various functions, we all benefit each other in the body. The fivefold ministry spoken of in Ephesians 4:11 gives the hierarchy of ministry within the Church (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers). The purpose for this is given in verses 12-13, showing the benefit to the whole body's growth. I Corinthians 12 gives us a clearer illustration of how important each part of the body is. The Spirit of God is the empowering agent and guide to the Church, giving gifts to help in ministry accordingly. Here, we have a slightly different version of the ministry's hierarchy, and it calls them ministry gifts. Paul illustrates how limited the body would be if it were just one organ; thus, the need for diversity in the body. Some might argue that the different doctrines represent diversity. However, trying to incorporate a doctrine different from what Jesus said produces a mutation, not a perfect man, as Ephesians have said. The church is modeled after a human being and not some mythical creature (such as a Manticore, which has the head of a man, the body of a lion, and the tail of a scorpion). What we see now as the Church looks very little like what Christ has said the Church should be. The principles of Christ’s doctrine are freely adjusted to gain and maintain membership. As a result, the perfection of the body is marred, and like the church in Laodicea, Jesus is outside the door, knocking to get in.
The cure for the body is simple...Repent. Some churches have adhered to "The principles of the doctrine of Christ,” but their numbers are dwindling. Pressure from those who wish to change the gospel and make the message agree with “New Age” thinking has caused many to compromise. Acceptance of same-sex marriages and the normalization of deviant behavior are two of the cancers attacking the body. Many churches now seem to be on life support (so to speak), and the image of Christ is just that: an image. However, there is a panacea that can restore the body to its original glory. It is found in one word: repentance. We must go back and embrace what our
foundations are to revive the body and complete the work. To perfect the body, we must re-establish the doctrine of Christ within our churches (the doctrine the apostles preached.)
We must admit we have strayed off course. Before a person can get help with any ailment, they must first admit they have a problem. The problem with today’s church is what has been brought in by those who would subvert the truth. “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were ordained of old to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ'' (Jude 1:4). There are many who would try to gain advantage for themselves by presenting a weakened gospel message that appeals to carnal Christians. It is presented as truth, but it is only a facade to make many feel good in their error.
Because of this, many churches are sick and in need of a cure. They have left the love of Christ for the love of the world, which the Bible warns against (I John 2:15). “Repent and do your first works over, '' are the words Jesus said to the church in Ephesus (Revelation 2:5), and it is still the cure for the malady many churches suffer from. It is time to end the cycle leading to the body's demise and go on to the perfect church that Christ has ordained (Hebrews 6:13). The message that John the Baptist preached and Jesus preached is the message to today’s church. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 3:2, 4:17).

These characteristics can also be applied to traveling on spiritual roads. On the narrow road, spiritual alertness is required to avoid distractions and navigate this path unscathed.
Many are called, but few are chosen. Not just anyone can travel on the narrow road because it has requirements. Although all are invited to travel here, everyone will not qualify to journey on this road. Jesus spoke the parable of the rich young ruler who approached Him asking what he must do to have eternal life. Jesus' response outlined six of the Ten Commandments. Proudly, the rich young ruler proclaimed to Jesus that he had lived according to the commandments since he was a child. Jesus’s response shifted from foundational and core values to a call for sacrifice and discipleship when asked what he lacked. He spoke, "...go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me." (Matthew 19:21). The rich young ruler, not finding this directive attractive, went away displeased. He chose not to abide. Here, the young man did well to start but did not continue to follow God as he was called to higher expectations. The prerequisites are what make this road narrow. They consist of repentance, change in lifestyle, and daily surrendering to God.
A change in one's lifestyle requires the right decisions.
Our decisions are directly tied to our foundational beliefs. For the narrow road, the foundation that is needed is the Word of God. Those who contend with it consistently question Bible teachings. They may ask, "What does the Bible say about this?" or "Show me that in the Bible." They question because they don't believe and would prefer a broader worldview. However, to travel on the narrow road, you must believe and follow what the Bible says is right. In other words, surrendering one's will to God is required.
The broad way.
In contrast to the narrow path, the broad way is a "free” way; it allows you to live any kind of way. Just as God invites us to come and travel the narrow way, Satan offers an alternative. Satan's purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy, and he deceives many with false teachings (John 10:10). Through
deception and the deceitfulness of sin, Satan lures individuals away by their own lusts. As a result, they have no fellowship with God because of their sins and lustful desires, which inevitably leads to destruction.
Endurance
is required on the narrow road.
The narrow road, in essence, requires endurance. Many have begun the process, but some did not complete their journey. Some forks in the road will present themselves along the way, enticing one to veer off course from righteous living. These forks will come in various forms. Sometimes, they are clearly Satan's work; other times, they may appear to be a good choice but not quite the right path. Then, some choices are based on convenience. Whichever they may be, if they are contrary to God's way, they lead off course.
The narrow road, though unappealing, will save you from rejection.
The difference between broad and narrow roads is that the narrow road requires more discipline. On it, we become more like Christ, reflecting the fruit of the Spirit, which is the character of God. Despite their initial start, those who veer off the path will hear a resounding, "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:23). However, the narrow road has definitive rewards and benefits now and in the end. There will be difficult choices and sacrifices on this road, but you can also expect joy, peace, and happiness, where eternal life awaits.

United States have been afforded, many Christians have reduced persecution down to financial difficulties, someone gossiping about them, a flat tire on the way to work, etc. Those things can be chalked up to the human experience, but it is far from persecution. Self-inflicted pain and bad decision making is not persecution!
The current Department of Justice (DOJ) works 24/7 to remove the rights to freedom of speech and religion. Slowly but surely, the enemy has been somewhat successful. We have seen prayer removed from the classroom and sporting events and the Ten Commandments removed from public schools, state houses, and courtrooms.
Soft Persecution: We have not resisted unto blood
In the 20th century, Christians started to see soft persecution from the Marxist left in the United States. The current DOJ is using what is called ‘lawfare’ against Christians. The LGBT and the abortion community, along with their political allies, strategically began filing frivolous lawsuits against Christian families, businesses, and ministries. The objective is to bring these Christians to financial ruin. That is persecution.
As the country becomes more hostile to Christians, Christians remain complacent. Except for a few organizations, not much pushback is happening. Christians appear inwardly focused on their ministries, denominations, and political associations. You can see it in their actions and hear it in their prayers. The practice of praying for persecuted Christians morphed into prayers for blessings and a plethora of other material things. Christians abroad are persecuted and forgotten by many Christians in the United States.
In October 2017, the President declared, “America is a nation of believers, and together we are strengthened by the power of prayer.” Along with this statement, a section was set aside in the Department of Justice (DOJ) to fight for religious
liberty. The DOJ issued twenty religious liberties principles to guide the administration’s litigation strategy and protect religious freedom. The reported attacks against churches were relatively low during those years.
In 2020, the DOJ fought against COVID restrictions on religious services on multiple occasions throughout the United States. Churches were deemed nonessential, and overbearing rules were placed upon the church community. The DOJ stopped the ridiculous restrictions, which allowed churches the freedom they deserved.
In January 2021, the DOJ department that protected religious liberty was shut down. This was the beginning of an uptick in hostility toward the Christian church.
According to the Family Research Council (FRC), [from January 2023 to November 2023, FRC identified 436 acts of hostility against churches for those 11 months alone. This was more than double the number of incidents in all 12 months of 2022, which was 195. It also marked the second consecutive year that saw more than twice the number of incidents of the year before.]
Many of our institutions have become more antiChristian. The eight institutions that impact the culture the most are under the influence of Satan himself. Institutions such as:
• Cooperations
• Academia
• The Arts
• Sports/Entertainment
• Media
• Government/Military
• Family
• And sadly, many churches
Everything antithetical to the Christian faith is promoted.
Persecution in the United States (Continued from page 12)

Propaganda is used to target whole groups of people as the enemy. What do these people have in common? They have a biblical worldview, they are pro-life, anti-LGBT agenda which includes antitransgender and so-called ‘gender-affirming care.’ They stand for the rights given to U.S. citizens in the Constitution and believe our rights come from God, not the government.
Persecution in the United States
Our liberties, freedoms, and our very lives are under siege.
On November 15, 2023, a street preacher was shot in the head while preaching on a street corner. In Nashville, TN, a person identifying as transgender went to a Christian church and killed six people. On February 21, 2024, a transgender person attempted a mass shooting at the Lakewood church in Houston, TX. These are examples of persecution.
The Face Act law, signed by President Clinton in 1994, has been resurrected to arrest pro-life Christians who have prayed in front of abortion clinics.7 However, the law hasn’t been used until 2022.8 Pro-life advocates have been arrested using this law. Some face up to 11 years in prison and fines of up to $260,000.00.
Another example of persecution is using the power of the government against the church with ungodly laws, such as the Marriage Equality Act of 2023 (H.R. 4602) and the Respect for Marriage Act (H.R. 8404). These laws will help to protect marriage equality for LGBTQ+ couples at the federal level. The ‘Amend the Code for Marriage Equality Act’ of 2023 would remove gendered words like ‘wife’ and ‘husband’ from multiple federal marriage laws. This law will also attempt to force Christians to perform same-sex marriages. Forcing Christians to participate in anything antithetical to their core beliefs is persecution.
Wake up!
Christians in the U.S. have become at ease in Zion (Amos 6:1-3). It is time to awaken out of sleep. Watch! Reject the world and the ‘woke’ culture
because it is an anti-Christ culture.
As Christians, we must change our mindset about persecution. No longer can we say, “Oh, those poor Christians overseas.” The handwriting is on the wall: persecution is coming to the U.S., and it is happening right before our eyes. 9We have not yet resisted unto blood, but it is fast approaching.
Do a self-check. Are you a 100% bible believing Christian in word and deed? How is your biblical worldview? Are you willing to stand for Christian principles in the public square? If you will not stand now, you certainly will not stand when persecution is staring you in the face.
Even though we see persecution on the horizon, we must love our enemies. However, loving your enemies does not mean we should be blind and naive to the devil’s devices. Nor should we be willing to take on oppression or be bullied into silence against wickedness by the world. Someone has to say something! Bring an intelligent mind to the table: Be gentle, love God, and love people while understanding the real evil we are facing.
Jesus warns us of persecution but also gives us hope in Him. “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

THE DAYS OF NOAH
BY: TIARA HOLLAND

What happens when you miss a final call? Many announcements about upcoming departures at airports, train stations, and cruise ports are made. These warnings ensure that everyone makes it to their destinations, but many still miss their boarding opportunity.
As a ticket and a passport are required for travel, a relationship with God was necessary in Noah’s days. Just like today, where warnings are given for all to board, the people received precautions on how their choices will lead them to miss the ark. As seen in the book of Genesis, the warning was dismissed. The people were enjoying the pleasures of life and were distracted while Noah and his family, along with various animals, entered the ark.
Are you prepared like Noah? While many ignored the opportunity to change, the Bible states that Noah was a just and perfect man (2 Peter 2:5). He lived a righteous life, which led him to prepare for the flood that would take place soon after. He was also given the extra responsibility of building the ark.
We can reflect on what missing the last call may look like from recent events. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the world was in a state of panic, fear, and anxiety. Medical professionals and the public did what they thought was best to stop the spread of the infectious disease. The world had shut down overnight. Many were shocked by the drastic change and were introduced to a new normal. Church services, businesses, and public gatherings were canceled. During this time, more people considered their relationship with God. This pandemic showed how the world was not physically and spiritually ready like in the days of Noah. It is a stark reminder of the importance of being prepared for the unexpected.
Are you prepared for what is next? Today, one must be ready for the return of Christ. Jesus Christ died for our sins so that we may have eternal life. He will return to judge everyone’s lives and save those who belong to Him. The days of Noah will be similar to the return of Christ. Matthew 24:37 states, “But as the days of Noe were so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” There will be those who are eating, drinking, marrying, and distracted with the pleasures of life when the final opportunity arises. Many will not have a relationship with God nor heed the warnings.
The resemblance between the days of Noah and the current warning of Christ’s return shows how the world is not prepared for the event that will judge each individual on their righteousness. We can relate this to the people during Noah’s time who did not listen to the warnings. They missed their final opportunity to enter into the safety of the ark. Many did not consider the consequences that were to come. The last call is coming. Will you be prepared?
The return of Christ will reflect the days of the great flood. There were two categories of people: those who were prepared as Noah and those who were scoffers. (2 Peter 3:3-4) You must be ready for judgment. With salvation and a relationship with Christ, you are guaranteed to have what is needed for this imminent event.

REFINE YOUR SHINE
BY: AARONDA SMITH
From the time God said, "Let there be light," it was apparent that light would be essential to life. One could even conclude that God wanted us to have light more than anything else. Light has many functions, but the ultimate goal is to guide and reveal. When darkness was on the face of the deep (Genesis 1:2), God created light. Light is a necessary commodity to our world and our growth. Mostly, all things that benefit life need light to grow and mature. For example, plants convert light into food and then become food that feeds man and beast. God never intended for us to live in darkness, so He created light. In fact, He calls us the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). Often in scripture, the comparison of the candlestick is used to represent the children of God as the light. Every candle is made and molded by a candle maker. We are His candles, made to shine and not to hide. We are candles molded in the hands of the great Candlemaker.
HISTORY OF THE CANDLESTICK
The earliest recorded candle was in 3000 B.C. when the Egyptians created “rushlights” or “torches” to aid in seeing at night. Since then, candles have continued to evolve. The following significant change in candles came with the Romans' creation of the wick. These candles were often used by the Romans "to light their homes, aid travelers at night, and in religious ceremonies." Today, we use them for these reasons and more, and they come in a variety of colors and are also utilized to create a sweet-smelling savor. From their earliest creation to the present, the materials used to make candles have increased in variety. In the beginning, candles were formed using animal fat, beeswax, spermaceti wax (found in sperm whales), and stearin wax. Today, the most popular wax forms are paraffin wax, synthetic and chemically synthesized wax, and soy wax, with paraffin wax and soy wax being the most common.
THE WAX
Wax is the main component of candles, with the wick serving to increase its usability. The wick is placed into the wax to control or slow the candle's burning. Paraffin and soy wax are the most common forms we use today, but each burns differently. Paraffin wax burns faster than soy wax but releases fragrances faster. While soy wax burns and releases
fragrances slower, it also burns slower, giving the candle more usable life. It boils down to what the consumer desires: a faster burn with more fragrance or a slower burn with less fragrance. As candlemakers create candles, they consider these factors when selecting their wax. They are focused on the input as it relates to the output. What they put into the candle is what will come out. The purpose of the candle is to burn bright and illuminate. If the light it gives is poor, it is of little use. As God's candles, we must shine bright in our lives, representing Him in our godly character. If we do not do this, we are useless to God. In Jesus' address to the seven churches in Asia in Revelations, to one church, Jesus replied that He would prefer that they were hot or cold. Since they were neither, He would reject them (Revelations 3:15-16).
It is not just the candle's light that makes it acceptable but also the fragrance it gives. The aroma should be pleasant and farreaching, filling the room with its scent. God's candles should be the same. So, those who are the candles of the Lord must encompass the properties of paraffin and soy. They must burn bright and give a sweet-smelling savor to our words and actions, and they must burn long to make the savor last.
THE WICK
The wick is essential to both the type of candle and the purpose. It is the igniter. The match lights the wick, and the wick engages the wax. It is the controlling agent for how the candle will burn. The wick provides a way for the candle to function safely. Without it, the candle would burn out of control. To the Candlemaker, the type of wick used depends on the purpose. Three common ways to intertwine the fibers that form the wick are plaited, braided, and twisted. "Most high-quality wicks are made from

braided, plaited, or knitted fibers to encourage a slow and consistent burn. In general, twisted wicks are lower quality than braided or knitted ones. They burn much faster because their loose construction allows more fuel to reach the flame quickly." As the children of God, our wick cannot be of the twisted variety. Our candle must burn slowly so it can last long enough. Burning out quickly is just as bad as putting the candle under a "bushel" (Matthew 5:15). You cannot be an efficient candle without the proper wick.
THE CANDLE AND THE CANDLEMAKER
Every believer of the gospel can attest that our job is to shine for Christ. God created us to reflect His glory. To do so, He made us the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). Unlike natural candles, our composition varies. While a natural candlemaker has to choose what ingredients are required to create the desired candle, we were composed of two ingredients: the dust of the earth and the breath of God (Genesis 2:7). Each candlestick of the kingdom has become a living soul in the hands of a living God. Just as a natural candle requires a wick, we also have one. Our faith serves as our wick, consistently supplying us with the means to shine a light into this dark world. However, we need something to ignite the wick to be effective as a candle. Naturally, we use matches, but spiritually, we use the Word of God and his Spirit. Through the Word of God, the Spirit empowers us to live a life that is a beacon for a lost world. The Candlemaker holds the answer for every question or problem the world has: His Son Jesus. As His candles, we are to bear witness to this by allowing our light to burn bright. He put the wick inside of us so that we could light the way for those who are lost.
CANDLE’S RESPONSIBILITY
We are responsible for fulfilling the Candlemaker's desired intent to create us. When Jesus was in the world, He was the light, but now we, as His candles, have become the light. "A city that is set on a hill
cannot be hid" (Matthew 5:14). That means we are to shine for Jesus everywhere we go. As a candle whose function is to illuminate sin and show forth the glory of God, we must take care and keep our flame from dying out. Matthew 5:16 commands us to "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
You should never change your candle into something it was never created to be. Ephesus, one of the seven churches, suffered from a possible burnout because they had left their first love. They moved out of position, and metaphorically, their candle was leaning. The final warning was to "...remember from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent" (Revelation 2:5). If you notice that your light has become dull or extinguished, return to the Candlemaker. You may need a new wick because yours has become buried. When a wick is buried, the candle cannot burn properly, but with some tender love and care from the Candlemaker, your candle can shine once again. You cannot hide your light under a bush. That is not the proper use of a candle. It was made to glow. As you continue to walk this Christian path, never forget that the Candlemaker designed you to shine. We must do as the children's song tells us, "This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine."
"The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly" (Proverbs 20:27). We must understand who we are as the candlestick in the hand of the Candlemaker.

FRUIT INSPECTORS
BY: TAMIA HOLLAND
Have you ever experienced the disappointment of picking out a fruit from the grocery store only to realize it is discolored, squishy, or even rotten? This fruit is unsuitable; money is wasted and does not serve its intended purpose. Not only is it frustrating, but it can also make you sick if you consume it. But did you know that just like we inspect our fruit for consumption, God inspects our lives for maturation? From a spiritual perspective, we should strive to produce good fruit that is not decaying from the inside out, appearing healthy but soft to the touch, or emitting an odor that might offend God. Therefore, the question arises: can God rely on us to produce good fruit when He chooses us? It is something worth contemplating.
The Husbandmen
God is responsible for inspecting the fruit and soil’s quality, ensuring that every branch is tended to. He is like a husbandman whose business is cultivating the ground (as mentioned in St. John 15:1). If a branch bears good fruit, He ensures it produces more. Unfortunately, those branches that are not producing or have bad fruit are taken away. The inspection is done unbiasedly, similar to how the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) checks the grade and condition of fruit. The fruit’s maturity is thoroughly inspected through pressure testing, cutting samples to identify internal damage or defects, and ring samples to ensure proper size. According to the Oxford Dictionary, “to bear fruit” means to yield positive results, achieve success, and be effective. As a Christian, it is essential to produce good fruit that will result in the fruit of the Spirit, as described in Galatians 5:22-23. These traits include love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities should be emphasized in every aspect of our lives as they are the byproduct of living and walking in the Spirit.
Stay Connected - True Vine
As mentioned in St. John 15:3, to produce quality fruit, one must be connected to the vine, Jesus Christ. Our foundation and eternal life are dependent upon Jesus as much as quality soil and proper watering are essential for fruit growth. Without Him, we cannot flourish or bear quality fruit. Through Christ, we can stay rooted, grounded, and connected and accomplish all things.
Connection Broken
Premature fruit drop is a significant problem for farmers during harvest season. It occurs when the fruit falls off the tree early or appears mature from the outside but not fully developed inside. Causes include inadequate water supply, harsh weather, and a lack of bee pollination helpers.
St. John 15:6 says, "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them in the fire and they are burned." In a spiritual sense, our fruit results from being a hearer and doer of the Word of God. Our source of sustenance is Jesus Christ, who provides us with the rivers of living water. We must hold on to the vine so that when life’s storms rage and circumstances come our way, we can still bear quality fruit. We do not have to drop because Jesus can calm any storm that comes our way.
Pollination helpers play a vital role in fruit

production. Similarly, we have the Holy Ghost as our helper, who assists us in living a life that is pleasing to God. The Holy Spirit helps us when we struggle to find the right words to pray and makes intercession for us. It guides us towards all truth and helps us overcome our weaknesses. The Holy Ghost is our comforter during challenging times and gives us the strength to resist temptations and focus on spiritual matters instead of worldly desires.
Check the Fruit
It is said that one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. This is because the influence of one corrupt element can harm everything around it. Our actions reflect what is in our hearts. Therefore, whatever is in our hearts will seep into our habits, thoughts, and daily lives. God has instructed us to recognize quality fruit and avoid deception (St. Matthew 7:20).
It is essential to be cautious of those who try to sway us with empty philosophy and deceptive traditions of men (Colossians 2:8). Instead, we should follow the example of Apostle Paul, who instructed the Corinthians to follow him as he followed Christ. No amount of charisma can replace the holiness of God. Our connection to the true vine, Jesus Christ, allows us to abide in Him and produce good works.
Negative influences can only lead to works of the flesh and are incompatible with a life of true discipleship. We must align ourselves with God’s word and not compromise our beliefs. As it is written, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3). Therefore, we should always strive to be a mirror to the Word of God, and if something does not align, we should not agree
with it.
Preserved and Kept
Farmers often use preservatives to keep fruits fresh and prevent them from rotting and becoming contaminated with pesticides. These preservatives are applied after the fruits are picked and shipped to the market. Similarly, the gospel of Jesus Christ is like a preservative for us, saving us from sin and granting us eternal life. However, we can only benefit from it if we stay connected to Jesus. Like natural fruit, we must produce good spiritual fruit that reflects the Lord. We should not let go of Jesus, as He is the source of our strength and salvation. God has chosen us to bear fruit; if we abide in Him, everything else will fall into place. Unlike natural fruit, we will never rot as children of God. St. John 15:16 states, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”

Dealing With
BY: RAPHAEL ROKER

Anxiety is one of the most prevalent mental illnesses in the world. Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, and uneasiness (MedlinePlus) and affects 40 million adults annually in the US alone (Anxiety and Depression Association of America). According to studies like the American Psychological Association, Generation Z (Gen Z), those born between 1997 and 2012, is the most worried generation to date.
Anxiety can take different forms, and according to the United Kingdom National Health Service, it is identifiable in ways like:
• You cannot stop worrying, causing you distress
• Worrying interferes with everyday activities, such as school, working, and socializing
• You worry a lot, including trivial issues like housework and your job or health.
The World Health Organization also provides further indications such as difficulty focusing or reaching a decision, feeling angry, tense, or restless, experiencing nausea, having heart palpitations, sweating, trembling or shaking, insomnia, or feelings of severe panic. Life brings about a roller coaster of emotions—feelings of joy, yet uncertain about what will happen. From the COVID-19 pandemic, international wars, economic distress, and many other things, the world is left untouched by feelings of fear and uncertainty. Even further, social media has contributed significantly to
the anxiety faced by Gen Z. Ninety percent of Gen Z reported experiencing physical or psychological problems in the past year due to stress. At the same time, 70% say that depression and anxiety are severe issues among their peers (Stress in America Generation Z | American Psychological Association).
Based on these statistics and reports, there is a growing concern about the effects of anxiety on this generation. Though it seems grim, there is still hope. You may be facing much fear, worry, and uncertainty. You may be lonely and isolated in a world constantly on the go. You may be in university, wondering about your next move. Like the woman in the Bible with the issue of blood, you may have tried everything to get out of this dark place. I want you to know that you are not alone. It is okay not to be okay, but you do not have to stay there.
When you have tried everything else, try Jesus. He is the One who knows you by name. He is the One who knows your beginning and end. He is the One who looks high and looks low. He is the One who is right by your side, even now. When life’s pressures seem too hard to bear, He is the One who says, “Come unto me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
Jesus wants to give you rest today. Being on edge about something you cannot control does not help your situation. I know you sometimes desire to

know all the details and answers. However, life only sometimes works out to be that way. Look at it like this. You are on a car ride where Jesus is the driver. He is the One controlling the car. When you say, “Jesus, take the wheel!” Do you mean that? Even in saying that, there can sometimes still be the urge to tell Jesus to go left or right or to keep going. He is in the driver’s seat, but you still want to tell Him where to go.
Sometimes, the road ahead looks bleak, and you do not understand why He is taking you on this road. Sometimes, there are bumps, twists, and turns, and you wonder if there was not another route Jesus could have taken you. Trying to take the place of Jesus in your life can cause unnecessary pain. When you learn to let go, let God, and rest in Him, you will gain peace even when life is wild.
Jesus knows the uncertainty that you feel. Remember what Matthew 6:33-34 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself…”
When you choose to seek Jesus, nothing else matters. When you decide to rest in the direction of the Master Pilot, nothing else matters. I want to share a little about the story from Luke 8. Jesus was sleeping on the boat during a storm. His disciples thought it would be their end. They were in a dark
place, filled with fear and worry. How can Jesus be sleeping at a time like this? Jesus, the Prince of Peace, knew that this storm would not be the end for Him and His disciples. Jesus is with you in your storm right now. It may seem like He is not listening or concerned about your feelings, but He is. He sees your tears. He knows how you feel. He desires for you to rest in Him.
Scrolling through social media, one of the leading contributors to anxiety in GenZ, for hours and hours will not help. Jesus wants you to lay all your cares at His feet and leave it there. So, what are you still carrying today that you were not meant to carry? Life is uncertain, but you do not have to live without hope or filled with fear and worry. Jesus is our hope. Hebrews 6:19 says, “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast…”
Other practical tools to overcome anxiety are:
1. Prioritize physical exercise. Research has shown a connection between mood enhancement and a decrease in anxiety after only one exercise session. Exercise improves blood flow in the brain and releases endorphins, which are feel-good chemicals that can help you cope better with stress (Guszkowska, 2004).
2. Take deep breaths. Isolate yourself from the situation and breathe to calm the body, telling it there is no danger right

now and that you are safe.
3. Journaling.
If you do not have anyone with whom to share your feelings, journaling can give you a way to express yourself and help you spot patterns and emotions linked to your anxiety. According to a study, after a month of writing for 15 minutes three days a week for 12 weeks, participants experienced decreased depressive symptoms and increased well-being (Smyth, 2018).
4. Find community.
As you navigate your emotional journey, surround yourself with persons who can keep you accountable and uplift you.
Above all, your life will have hills and valleys, but you have something anchored, sure, and steadfast— Jesus. You may not know all the details of life, but the Author of your life’s story does. Although life may sometimes feel uncomfortable, every chapter has a hopeful end.

Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was a leader among leaders.
Even today, we can learn much from His mission on Earth and how He carried out His most important assignment, saving humanity from sin and degradation.
Another great leader of Biblical times was the Apostle Paul. Although Paul was a very educated man before his conversion to being a follower of Jesus Christ, he positioned himself as a humble disciple of His Lord and Savior. His leadership skills were exemplary and were evident in how he established and led the Christian churches of his day. He never made His Kingdom mission about himself, but rather, he taught and lived a life of servitude, compassion, mentorship, patience, gentleness, and wisdom. He was a transformational leader, and his leadership style has been studied and noted throughout the ages. In his letter to the Corinthian church, he told them to “be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ” (I Corinthians 11:1).
Whether you are a leader in a Fortune 500 company, a church, an educational institution, or a family, you should desire to be exceptional in all your actions. People are influenced by their leaders, whether positively or negatively. As we see in current times, some leadership figures are being influenced by the perils of worldliness and debauchery. It is common to read news headlines of certain leaders being caught in heinous crimes and shameful acts. However, reputable leadership always lives a blameless life, denying what is evil and maintaining its integrity. And such should it be, especially among those called to be Christian leaders. Being a leader, especially in the body of Christ, is a weighty assignment, and it is a role that is rewarding and must be taken with all seriousness and commitment.

Rome is the capital of Italy, a country on the continent of Europe. It was established on April 21, 753 BC. Located about 15 miles inland from the Tyrrhenian Sea, it is in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, the Tiber River. Rome is known as the City of Seven Hills, the Eternal City, and the Cradle of Western Civilization and Western Christian Culture. https://www.mapsofworld.com/italy/cities/rome/geography.html
Climate: Rome's climate is Mediterranean. The summer is warm to mild and ranges from June to September. The winter season extends from December to March and is generally cold. Rainfall occurs mainly during the winter but begins in October and continues through January.
Rome and the Christian Church Rome is a place rich in history, especially Bible history. As the leading governing regime at the start of the early Christian church, many aspects of this period are associated with this city and its people. The apostles Peter and Paul completed multiple missionary journeys across the hemisphere, expanding the early church among Jewish and Greek communities. The persecution suffered by the Christians, the end-time prophecy, and the writings of the Apostle John in the book of Revelation also include traveling through and several stops in Rome.

BY C.J. AND NICOLE HAWTHORNE
The Hawthornes return to the Fired Up family to share the details of their intercontinental trip with their blessed son, Cooper, a chosen miracle introduced in Fired Up Magazine Vol: II, Issue 1.
C.J.: Growing up, there were things I never imagined I would be privileged enough to experience. But living for God has brought so many wonderful blessings. One of the most recent blessings was the opportunity to travel to Italy! No, not Italy,Texas; Rome, Italy, in Europe, and it was quite an experience. It was all my wife Nicole's idea. What made you think of going there, Nicole?
Nicole:
One day, I randomly thought, "Let us do something crazy for Christmas this year," and told C.J. about it. I considered a few different locations and decided on Rome because of its rich history and historical sites. Preparation, staying safe, and staying comfortably within your budget is vital. Everything, including our hotel, airport transportation in Rome, scheduled tours, and anything in between, was planned before we left home. I purchased travel insurance and did a lot of research on traveling to a new country, learning about Italy's essential customs, getting tips on flying with a toddler, staying safe as tourists, and studying the hotel's area. I researched until there was nothing left to find.We stayed in the historic city center of Rome, within walking distance of many restaurants and the Coliseum. Being in the historic city center provided us the security of being around Englishspeaking locals and police. I learned about the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum in high school, so I had to visit Pompeii. The towns and people were destroyed one day in A.D. 79 by Mount Vesuvius. The bodies were covered in volcanic ash and dust and stayed hidden for 1,700 years. Standing on the streets of Pompeii was surreal, and seeing some of the actual body casts was heart-wrenching.The trip from Rome to Pompeii took about three hours, but it was worth it.We booked our visit with a tour company and had a guide as we walked through the city. I am so grateful to God for giving us that opportunity.
C.J.:
I loved visiting the Vatican. I probably took more pictures there than I have ever taken. As we walked down the hallways of the Vatican, I was overwhelmed by the magnitude of history surrounding me. I found myself drawn to the thorough preservation of sacred artifacts and artwork. From priestly attire worn during religious ceremonies to paintings depicting the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, every detail served as a testament to the Vatican's unwavering commitment to honoring its rich spiritual heritage. Entering the Sistine Chapel, I was struck by its seriousness and reverence. Unlike the casual attire often seen in places of worship elsewhere, inside the Sistine Chapel, they maintained strict standards of decorum, with no shorts, cut-off shirts, or hats permitted. As I was directed by security to remove my baseball cap, I was reminded of the sanctity of the space I was about to enter, a sanctuary dedicated to the worship of God and the celebration of His divine presence. In the middle of a sea of tourists and hushed whispers (people were actually in there worshiping), I was amazed at the intricate details of biblical scenes on the chapel's vaulted ceiling. To myself, I thought, "Someone actually painted this!" Yet, it was not just the artistry that left me speechless but also the sense of reverence in the room.

Nicole:
The food was hit or miss, just like here at home. However, we visited several restaurants twice because the food was authentic and pleasing. McDonald's in Italy was excellent and included menu items we had never seen before. It did not taste like McDonald's here in the States. The food prices were incredibly reasonable unless you were in a tourist trap. When ordering drinks, they came in the original can or bottle with a separate cup of ice on the side. We went to the good restaurants at least twice, even if it was a bit of a walk. The pasta and cheeses were terrific; the taste was rich and flavorful. We had this superb fettuccine Alfredo with chicken (twice), and believe it or not, the pizza we had could have been better because it was at a touristy restaurant.
Our hotel offered breakfast, so we ate there nearly every morning until we got tired of it. The blood orange juice was heavenly! They do not expect a huge tip in Italy, just a few extra euros to round up the bill. Over-tipping is not expected like here at home.
Nicole:
As for travel, our flights were nine hours from Texas to Paris and then two hours from Paris to Rome. On the way back home, our flights were ten hours from Rome to Atlanta, Georgia, and then a two-hour flight from Atlanta to Texas. Other passengers and the flight attendants complimented Cooper on both long-haul flights for being well- behaved.
Traveling with a toddler was fairly easy because we had traveled with him before, and I had done a ton of research on long- haul flights with toddlers. I had all kinds of snacks, toys, and his tablet to entertain him on the flight.
Italy is an infant-friendly place, but many historical sites are not (simply because they are ancient and strollers did not exist). Pompeii and the endless staircases leading to the Sistine Chapel were nightmares regarding the stroller. The Coliseum has an elevator retrofitted, so our tour guide ensured we went that way with Cooper and his stroller. Many places had separate restrooms for a parent and child, and when people saw us with a child, they made sure to help us bypass a line to get through a special "family and handicapped" entrance (airport, train station, etc.). We noticed a lot of people were interested in Cooper. I was not sure if they had seen African-American toddlers (or travelers in general) in Italy very often, as we got quite a few stares, and he got a lot of loving attention. It was not rude and did not make us uncomfortable; we just noticed people looking at us quite a bit.

Gettingsaved is one of the best decisions one will ever make. Yet most people think living saved is not for them; they believe they are alright because they are morally good or do not see the need to accept salvation.
Why do you need to be saved?
Jesus, the Savior of the world, who died on the cross for our sins, is soon to return. He is coming for His saints, those who have been redeemed and lived to please Him. The enemy, Satan (who was expelled from Heaven for his rebellion), uses one's logic to reason salvation away. God has given us signs to bring to our attention that Jesus is coming back soon. There are wars and rumors of wars, pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places (Matthew 24:6-7). You will not return to Heaven with Jesus if you are not saved.

What does it mean to
be saved?
Saved means to be rescued or preserved from harm, danger, or injury; to make or keep safe; to be delivered from sin. A sin is an immoral act considered a transgression against divine law, which is an offense against God. Simply put, to be saved means that you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and have devoted your life to serving and following Him.
To be saved, one must first realize their need for rescue. This is similar to when a drowning person realizes that they are in danger and that they need help. When you are not saved, you are drowning in the sea of sin which results in spiritual death. Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The only one who can deliver you from sin is Jesus Christ. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). You must sincerely believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for your sins (John 3:16-17).
When a person is drowning, naturally, they may yell for help. The lifeguard will be alerted and come to their rescue. Lifeguards have what is called a life preserver ring. It is a buoyant float ring placed around a person's waist to keep them afloat and save them from drowning. Jesus is that lifeguard for humanity. He guards lives from danger and rescues them from the sea of sin. Just as a natural lifeguard sits high, watching for someone who needs and wants his help, Jesus is watching and waiting. Salvation is a life preserver that Jesus extends to all. Yet only those with a mind to be delivered will reach out for rescue. Jesus has done the difficult part by sacrificing His life in your stead. It is up to you to simply receive His sacrifice. You must call upon Jesus to save and deliver you. He is already waiting. Perhaps you have felt Him tugging at your heart, drawing you to Himself with His love. Jesus is the only lifeguard on duty when it comes to being saved. No idol god or treatment can take Jesus’ place. There is no alternative way to salvation. You must then repent. Repentance is expressing sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin. Romans 10:9 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
What are the essential keys to salvation?
Confession is one of the most essential keys to salvation. No works on earth can give you a ticket into heaven. Confession is a formal admission of one's sins with repentance and a desire for a formal release from guilt, obligation, or punishment. You must confess with your mouth that you believe Jesus Christ is real and that He is the only one who can deliver you from your sins. We could never earn salvation; it is a gift that must be received.
wants you to die in your sins and end up in hell throughout eternity, believing his lie that you don’t have to be saved. God has given us a way of escape. He offers us the way to eternal life through His only Son, Jesus Christ. The Lord will save you no matter how you have sinned or what you have done. He is waiting for you to repent and genuinely accept salvation.

God loves and cares about humankind so much that He sent His Son to die on the cross to save them from eternal death and damnation. Satan

Areyou aware of how many things contain salt? With more than14000 stated purposes for which it is used (SaltWorks, 2001), salt is everywhere, formed in different ways with different physical and health-related properties. Scripture even mentions salt as necessary for an acceptable meat sacrifice to the Lord (Leviticus 2:13). He goes even further to say in Matthew 5:13 that Christians are the salt of the earth. This analogy refers to the need for Christians to fulfill their purpose in the earth just as salt fulfills its purpose in food. As stated earlier, salt has thousands of purposes, but the most common is to season. Another important purpose, however, is to preserve, which goes for pretty much any, if not all, of the different forms of salt (rock salt, iodized salt, sea salt, etc.). Each of these salts, in similar ways, enhances desirability and resistance to decay. Going back to Matthew 5:13, Jesus considers His disciples "the salt of the earth" to season lives with the Word of God and

their testimony. In whatever way the Lord may lead, we are to preserve from societal decay.
To Season
Just like seasoning food enhances its flavor, the knowledge of Christ enhances the life of humanity, especially if that person decides that they want Christ in their life. That "seasoning" and that person accepting it also makes that person useful to the kingdom of God. A testimony of God's goodness works to season a person's life because it lets them know what God can do in their life, such as deliver them from vices that they lost all hope of being delivered from (lying, smoking, drinking, etc). This can prove incredibly effective if the seasoner deals with the same vice as the seasoned one. It is crucial, however, to use wisdom when it comes to "seasoning," as too much salt or the wrong kind of salt can work against making that life better. Too much salt could mean trying to force

your beliefs onto people instead of persuading them and letting them individually make the final decision about whether they want to believe or not. Approaching a non-believer and suddenly saying, in a scathing tone, that they are going to Hell without any supporting context will most likely ruin your witness and get you a ring around your eye. The wrong kind of salt could refer to how one approaches someone to win them to Christ. For example, a particular praise and worship song or Bible scripture may work to win one person but may be ineffective in winning another. Being wise and Christ-led will lead to the right amount and type of salt. Even if that life rejects it, you did what Jesus, the master chef, told you to do and can comfortably move on.
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30).
To Preserve
Again, preservation does not extinguish imminent rot and decay. Preservation means the rotting process is slowed to allow a consumer to put that salvageable part of that perishable thing to good use. Spiritually, society and humankind are the perishable products, and God is the consumer. Spiritual preservation does not mean a seasoned individual is going to live forever on earth because it is appointed unto men once to die (Hebrews 9:27). However, preservation comes from the fact that living a seasoned Godly life results in the individual having divine conservation and protection from trials and hardships that those without Christ would have to go through. Proverbs 13:15 declares that "the way of transgressors is hard." This isn't to say that a believer's life is always easy. Trials and hardships also come to believers, but the believer has Christ on their side to cast their cares on. Jesus assures in Matthew 11:30 that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Preservation also affects the soul, and in this case, preservation
is indefinite because when a still-seasoned soul's natural body passes away or is caught up in the rapture, that soul will be taken by God and indefinitely preserved from being eternally separated from Christ.
Why is salting and preserving society important? The more society is salted, the more God can consume and save from the rot of sin. However, Genesis 6:3 states that my spirit shall not always strive with man; in other words, time is short. Rot and degradation have already taken hold of society, and the process is, unfortunately, irreversible. It can be compared to a cake with a section of mold growing on it. As the days go by, that mold section gets bigger and bigger. While for some, it may already be too late, there is still a harvest that remains. There are still edible portions of cake waiting to be eaten. With all of this being said, it is paramount for Christians to stay salty at all times to be effective laborers. The lost depend on the righteous to pull them out of danger because everyone does not want to rot. An acquaintance or loved one may be part of that harvest that remains or that edible cake portion. What will gather what is left of the edible portion first, the salted or the spoiled?

How did you get your start in music?
I became interested in music at the age of 9 when I lived in Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis was a very musically oriented city; however, the musical foundation was very spiritual.
What instruments do you play, and which is your favorite?
I play trumpet, flute, alto, and tenor saxophone. My favorite instrument is the flute. The flute is very special to me because although I was already an accomplished first-chair trumpeter in college, I asked the Lord to teach me to play the flute after giving my life to God. Based upon what I was now being taught under the ministry of Full Gospel Holy Temple, I purchased a flute by faith (with no prior experience of playing), and within two weeks, by faith, the Lord had blessed me to learn how to play the flute.

How long have you been involved in the music ministry at your church?
I have been involved in the Full Gospel Holy Temple music ministry since 1975.
What has contributed to your steadfastness in music ministry?
My commitment to the ministry and faith in God have contributed to my steadfastness in the Christian/gospel music ministry.
Do you have any memorable moments or experiences in your music journey that you would like to share?
One of my most memorable memories is when I played with the gospel group "Robert Smith & the Gospel Brass Company," and our "all instrumental" gospel group was selected above more than fifty other choirs, gospel vocalists, and gospel instrumentalists to be the opening group for Shirley
Caesar, James Cleveland and The Mighty Clouds of Joy. That moment was a spiritual confirmation of our musical commitment to the ministry. Additionally, the song we played was based on II Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." The name of the song we played was "This is the Answer.”
How has music enhanced or impacted your life as a Christian?
Being able to praise the Lord in the house of God through music and through the gift that God has blessed me with has given my life meaning and a spiritual purpose.
What advice would you give other musicians?
I would advise other musicians to be committed to the ministry and always learn to give praise in the house of God, not a performance. Performing is based on an act and could be perceived as disingenuousness. Praise is based upon seeking the anointing whenever one sings, plays an instrument, or conducts any act in the house of God.

SOMETIMES I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND
by: PAS1
As I sit here a pondering and wondering I’m confused
Why are there so many people homeless
And destitute of daily food
When money is spent on the space program
And for other purposes is used
I just don’t understand
As I sit here a pondering and wondering I draw a blank
Why is it that those you help the most Hold you least in rank
And the very last thing they would want to do
Is offer thanks I just don’t understand
As I sit here a pondering and wondering I sigh
Why do the child you love so much
Tend to make you cry
Living life’s thrills much to their ills
Then without warning, they die
I just don’t understand
But as I sit here a pondering and wondering I must ask
How long before The Almighty
Takes us all to task
For our guilts and sins are many
We can no longer mask

In Power, Spirit and Truth
In churches weekly, tears are shed, hands are lifted, and prayers of repentance are uttered, but what happens when one is faced with the ills and vices of this present world outside the church walls? Are you able to stand up with power to evil influences and resist the yearnings of the flesh to partake? Or will you cower, embracing what you once cast off because you are actually powerless, unregenerate and ill-equipped to navigate the world's terrain?
This next issue aims to inform and equip today's world citizens with a deeper understanding of how to walk in this world with real transformative power.

CALL TO SALVATION
Dear friend,
Inside every person's heart, there is a void we try to fill with the pleasures of this world. However, in reality, that void can only be filled by God. He wants to give you a life filled with joy, hope, and peace that the world cannot provide. Come to God. He welcomes you in with open arms. In John 6:37, the Bible says “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." God loves you so much that He sent His only Son to die for you. Even if you were the only person on Earth, Jesus would have still died for you so that you may live with Him forever. That is just how much He loves you! If you are ready to surrender all and give your life to God, then say this prayer:
Prayer:
God, I am sorry for everything I have done in my life that was not like you. I repent of all my sins. I believe in my heart and confess out of my mouth that Jesus is Lord. I believe He died for my sins and rose again on the third day. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Save me and fill me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
It is just that simple! The Bible states in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." Now that you have repented, God has given you a new heart filled with His joy and peace. Go forward and live according to Psalm 63:8. Follow hard after God. Welcome to your new life in Christ!
