CHEMERONG WATERFALL : BIODIVERSITY SANCTUARY OF EXCELLENCE (DESIGN THESIS)

Chemerong eco-forest parks, nested in Pasir Raja Forest Reserve, Hulu Dungun, located 30km from nearest township Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, 67km from town of Dungun.

The park is in a remote and natural area in the district of Hulu Terengganu, which is part of the larger Terengganu state, known for its lush rainforests and pristine waterfalls. The park consist of Cengal trees park which houses the largest Cengal tree in the world (Compartment 5) and highest vertical waterfall in South East Asia (305m high).

Extension of mountain ranges in shared Taman Negara (oldest rainforest in the world), peak of Mount Berembun is over 1000 meters, the eco-forest housed wide biodiversity, featuring a wide variety of flora and fauna coexisting in a dynamic web of life. Unlike some monoculture plantations, eco-forests embrace the principles of natural regeneration and succession, allowing them to self-sustain and evolve over time.

This proposal aimed to provide a connected, highly accessible tourism base for tourists promoting Chemerong Eco-forests Parks ecotourism, law and security surveillance (preservation and conservation) and emergency response center.

A SANCTUARY

A sanctuary is a designated area that provides safety, protection, and refuge for people, animals, or plants. For humans, it often refers to a place of worship or a safe space for those seeking asylum from danger. Wildlife sanctuaries are protected natural areas where animals and plants can live and thrive without threat from human activities like hunting or deforestation. These sanctuaries play a crucial role in conserving biodiversity and protecting endangered species.
