What a Week Wreake Valley Academy Had for Children in Need!

As Wreake Valley Academy are in the top 150 schools in the country for our Children in Need fundraising, our Charity Council started planning for our event back in September and

began by decorating the whole school in spots to promote the ‘Spotacular’ theme. Determined to make it bigger and better than ever before, we roped in the whole school and even got the local community involved. We had a visit from Pudsey Bear himself, arranged by the BBC, on Wednesday 16th November and we had great fun taking him around our local Primary schools, meeting pupils, staff and parents and even taking part in an assembly. The reception he got from them all was so welcoming that he came back again over the next two days and joined in with all of our other activities within school. We had cake sales, a tuck shop, a Pudsey Nail Bar and netball & football tournaments throughout the week. On the Thursday, Pudsey posed in our very own Pudsey Photo Booth, which was a huge success. We also had splat the teacher which our

Principal, Mr Pinnock, and other staff, were brave enough to take a turn in as well as our local Police Constables’ who were kind enough to come along and join in the fun. One of the highlights of it all was our raffle, for which we had over 50 prizes which included; a signed LCFC shirt, a signed Leicester Tigers match shirt, a signed basketball, tickets to the Basketball League Final match at the Barclaycard Arena, a voucher for a family of four to enjoy a session at the Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre and some tasty treats from Greggs, to name but a few. On the Friday, as well as all of the other activities, we had the staff v students football match, where staff were lucky enough to borrow the red LCFC football kit to play in, in an attempt to unnerve the opposition.
