Nestled in the idyllic village of Trusham, situated in the scenic Teign Valley between Chudleigh and Bovey Tracey, lies the exquisite Tucketts Barn. A mere 20 minutes away from Exeter, this stunning home is a true testament to the impeccable taste and attention to detail of its current owners. Every aspect of the home has been thoughtfully decorated and furnished to create a warm and welcoming ambiance as soon as you step inside. The use of high-quality materials throughout the property is evident, showcasing the owners’ commitment to excellence. From the moment you move in, you can simply enjoy the beauty and comfort of this extraordinary home.
As you step into the property, you are immediately greeted by a sense of luxury and quality. The exquisite use of materials, such as mandarin limestone flag flooring and oak doors, is evident from the moment you enter the entrance hall. From here, you have access to the main living accommodation, the staircase, and a convenient shower room with a WC.
To the left of the entrance, a couple of steps lead you down to the stunning kitchen dining space, which truly serves as the heart of the home. The bespoke wooden units have been professionally painted in Little Greene paint and are adorned with Bianca Massa quartz worktops, exuding elegance, and functionality. The abundance of storage and worktop space, along with the 12-foot matching island, make this kitchen a perfect spot for socialising and cooking, there is a wood burner, and built in appliances. Natural light streams in through two windows at the front and one at the back, while double doors open to the front terrace, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.
On the right side of the entrance, you’ll find the impressive sitting room that leaves you in awe with its high vaulted ceiling and exquisite décor. Flooded with light from the doors that lead out to the front and back terraces, this room is divided into two areas, with a main sitting room and a cosy snug area under the mezzanine. A spiral staircase leads up to the mezzanine floor, offering additional versatile space that could be used as an office, an art studio, a reading area, or even an occasional bedroom. The mezzanine floor has its own double doors that open up to a private terrace area, connecting seamlessly with the rest of the garden.
Welcome to Tucketts Barn, our little piece of paradise in a picturesque village. Nestled in a private enclave, our home is a sanctuary of tranquillity where we can enjoy the warmth of a close-knit community or retreat behind closed gates for ultimate privacy. From the moment we laid eyes on the place, we fell in love with its charm and character.
One of the first things we noticed were the thick walls that keep our home cosy in the winter and delightfully cool in the summer. The four patios that follow the sun or shade provide perfect spots for outdoor relaxation or entertaining, with three sets of barn doors that open to create seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces. Our sitting room is a magical place during Christmas, with a towering 12-foot Christmas tree that fills the room with festive cheer. In the summer, it becomes a fabulous entertaining space with multiple seating areas outside, perfect for enjoying the warm weather.
One of our favourite features of the property is the mezzanine, which provides us with additional space for my design studio, a chill-out area, and a spare room for guests. With its own private garden and patio area, it’s a perfect retreat within our home. The gardens surrounding our property are a haven for children and animals alike, offering endless opportunities for adventure and play, all within a secure and safe environment.
Inside, our home boasts a beautifully crafted bespoke wooden kitchen, hand-painted with Little Greene paint. It features a designer Elica hood and two Neff cookers, a warming tray, and an extralarge induction hob, all centred around a stunning 12-foot island made of Bianca Massa quartz. It’s not just a functional space for preparing meals, but also a wonderful entertaining area.
Tucketts Barn is not just a beautiful home, but also a practical one. With underfloor heating in the sitting room, oil heating, mains electric and water supply, and a sewerage treatment plant installed last year, we have all the modern amenities for comfortable living. The fully insulated loft, complete with electricity and boarding, provides ample, convenient storage space.
One of the things we cherish most about living here is the sense of community. The village pub, a quiet and welcoming spot, serves fabulous food, especially their Sunday roasts. It’s a great hub for meeting villagers, family, and friends, and adds to the warm and friendly atmosphere of our village.
After nine wonderfully happy years at Tucketts Barn, we are reluctantly saying goodbye. Our decision to leave is driven by the need for more land for our daughter’s pony, but we will always treasure the memories we have made in this truly special place. Tucketts Barn has provided us with a sense of peace, security, and belonging. It’s been our private haven, where we’ve enjoyed the wildlife, the village, the magnificent birdsong, and the warm community spirit that we can dip in and out of as we please. We really hope the new owners, enjoy living here as much as we have.”*
